1) Sign Ngata to a long term deal. (10-12 years will do)
2) Look into getting a new OC. (Tom Clements - GB QB coach or Joe Lombardi -Saints) think Flacco has learn alot from Cam, but I think having another person with some different perspectives should help him in his growth. Having a different point of veiw and knowledge base should do wonders for the kid's development
3) Secondary needs help. (Draft CBs not safeties) Speed is what we need.
4) Sign Gaither. The OL is soooo much better with him in the line up. This will help the running game ten fold and help on the blitz pick-up.
5) Sign Stallworth if you can get him for a reasonable price. He is a nice addition to the offense and can really allow the offense more options.
6) Sign Carr but put in his contract he cant return punts.

We have the fastest secondary in the division...our problem is we dont have any big physical cover corners.

Have to agree with this. We need more size. We were sitting in the stands last night shocked at how much bigger the Steelers are than our DBs. We need less smurfs and a couple of bruisers.

That's why I was hoping we would draft spievey. I don't know how he has been doing this year though, I just know they switched him to starting safety

I love Mason, but you'd be holding the future of the WR position back at that point. He has been playing great, but I would take Housh over him, since hes a lot younger.

Bottom line is, we need someone to grow with Flacco. The smart organizations get rid of a player one year earlier, and thats what we'd be doing.
eh i think we should just hang on to him for his last year of his contract (if he doesnt retire after this season as it is). Yes Housh is 3 years younger, but Mason is still playing very good football. And like i said, if Mason doesnt retire after this year, he will probably retire after next. hes already asking himself why he came back....

We have a bunch of guys with their contracts expiring. I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that the following guys are free agents

Chris Carr - by far our best corner
Stallworth
Housh
Mason (may retire)
Gaither
Ngata

Thats not counting some other big time players who are 2+ years down the road that we need to start thinking about now like Flacco, Grubbs, Yanda, Rice

I love #85 but agree with this.
Yeah... Mason is the problem. Not the guy throwing to him. Are we turning in to the Orioles now? The goal is not to win... it's to grow talent and groom them for when they are good enough to go on to other teams and produce for coordinators who know what they are doing?!?

Did I ever say Mason was "the problem"? I didn't, so pipe down buddy.

Developing WRs is much easier than it used to be with WRs playing in spead offenses more often. I'm not actively calling for Mason to be released next year but I'd understand if he was, considering his age.

no probably, Carr is our best cover corner right now and the only corner you can rely on to make an actual wrap up tackle.

Thank you. Loyalty will only get you so far. This is the Pats formula and they are one of the best franchise in the NFL.

Really? Why'd they bring back Branch?

Familiarity. They moved when they could get something for him a number of years ago.

Because they needed a WR. Plus he was familiar with the system.

Big difference between loyalty and convenience.

Exactly why Mason is so valuable. He knows the playbook, he knows how to win, and he's still capable of it. Loyalty means nothing. Why get rid of a reliable asset?

You are looking to strictly next year. Lewis is different. MLB's are hard to find.....

Lets hope our FO has a more futuristic look.

Ray is still the best ILB on this team by far. At WR, you could make the case Houshmandzadeh is just as good if not better than Mason at this point in their careers.

I wouldn't make that argument. Watch the Tampa Bay game, again. That was the Derrick Mason show.

He was being covered one-on-one. If Housh was the starter, I don't really see too much of a difference tbh.

So what? He flat-out dominated his man. He should be beating one-on-one coverage and he did. I think Mason is the better receiver. He's certainly been more productive throughout his career.

I believe they have been looking toward the future ever since Harbs got here in 2008. I mean sure some guys are developmental prospects(Kruger, Kindle, Cody) but will be major contributors in a couple years.

with our track record at WR, WR's are hard to find too. we got lucky that we got Housh this year, and i didnt think our FO was ever gonna trade for a WR. i just dont think we should dump Mason when hes still playing really good.

Kindle is no "developmental prospect". Had he not fractured his skull, he'd have at least made an impact similar to what Suggs did his rookie year.

Signings/resignings/release
i think we have to resign ngata..7 year 70 mill..I feel like with cody a lot better next year..and ngata and suggs..our lbs will be in a better position to make plays.

we should get rid of landry if he asks for a ridic contract..bc we have zibby and nakamura and we can draft a saftey also

Release fabian

Resign wilson and with foxworth back we will have fox..webb..carr wilson and cary williams which is fine by me. I don't really see the need to draft 2 cbs..maybe 1 if hes the BPA

Resign either housh or stallworth..hopefully mason comes back for another year. He still has another solid year in him, and he is almost a sure 5-10 yards as anyone in the game.

Resign Gaither if he doesn't ask for a monster LT type contract. If we can get him for cheap since he's only really played 2 years, then we should resign him and still draft an olineman for when he gets hurt again

Hopefully kindle is good to go for 2011 and takes our pass rush to the next level

Draft-

Draft a Wr this year. I know we drafted reed last year, and we may have bigger needs, but whether its a big wr in the 1st or 2nd round who would be able to help out every week in 2012 year when mason retires or a WR in the later rounds like reed who could help out on special teams and could fit in our future plans. Drafting a WR should be a must for us since this will be our last year with flaccos saftey blanket (if he doesn't retire after this year)

Draft an olineman. Whether we resign the injury prone tackle or not, I don't care we need to draft an olineman in the draft. I could see a pretty talented OT or C/OG fall to us in the second and we could snag him

Draft a DE. This should probably be our first priority if we are sticking with the 3-4. Redding isn't doing a bad job but I don't know how much longer he is going to play for us. We need a solid DE to complete our Dominant 3-4 dline with Ngata and Cody. And with suggs (hopefully kindle too) coming off the edge will be huge. If we decide to go with a 4-3 next year (i don't see this happening), we would definetly need a true 4-3 DE to atleast rotate in.

Draft a saftey. Zibby is good, i don't get why everyone hates on him and nakamura is good too so i woudln't be sad if we release landry, but we would definetly need to draft a saftey, even if its late

Draft a LB. Why not? we seem to draft one every year. We have a ton of lbs, I think mcclain is good and gooden might be a little too small.

I know what we pick all depends on what other teams do, here is what I think the round to round should be:

1. DE/DT- someone who can play DE in the 3-4 or someone who can play DE in the 4-3
2.OT/OG/C
3.WR
4.LB (maybe a DE who could play olb)
5.S
6.CB
7.DE

Coaching changes

Fire mattison?
I don't know what I think about this. I don't think mattison is that bad, but theres no reason our D can't hold leads (it is equally our offenses fault for not being able to close out the game).
If we do fire mattison, which I don't think we will, we could hire nolan if the dolphins don't get him back or we could steal rob ryan from the browns..haha

Fire Cam?

Cam has his good and bad games, but the fact is we are 8-4. If we get to the playoffs again, for a third straight year, I see the FO giving Cam one more chance, since flacco has been in this offense for 3 years and it'll be kind of ridic for us to tell expect flacco to learn a whole new system. Unless Cam really screws up, I see the only way we would get a new OC is if some team wants to make him their HC. If that happens, I would rather have Al saunders call the plays than Jim zorn.

A lot of people of are talking about firing the OC. If the FO feels like Cam has to go after this year, then thats what will happen. Our in staff options would be (my rankings):

1. Al saunders, current offensive consultant- He has served until Dick Vermeil and Mike Martz. He had some playcalling experience with the cheifs and the redskins during the joe gibbs era. That offense sucked, but it was more talent than playcalling.

2. Jim Hostler, current WR coach- He did a horrible job calling plays for the 49ers in 07 and was fired in 08. I don't know much more about him other than hes coached for the jets as a wr coach but I would rather give him a chance than zorn.

3. Jim zorn, current qb coach- He did a good job as the qb coach in seattle and I think hes doing a good job with joe this year but his stint with the redskins was a debacle, he was pretty bad at calling plays and I hope ozzie doesn't give him the keys to the offense.

4. William Montgomery, RB coach- He is a really good rb coach, previously coached with Rams and helped with faulk's development and stephen jacksons. Maybe he could get the shot at calling plays but I see the 3 above him getting the opportunity first.

Here are some other OC options if we decide not to promote anyone on our staff since our top three candidates haven't been successful at calling plays in their recent tries.

1. Mcdaniels- Alright, Im not saying lets bring spygate to baltimore, I'm just saying his spread offense would be great for us, even though his offenses don't usually focus on running the ball which is our main focus. This is why i don't see us replacing Cam with Mcdaniels.

2. Billick- I bet billick is drooling right now looking at our offense with an actual qb and a physcial strong wr. I wouldn't mind billick coming back as the OC as long he is not allowed to be in the draft room when we are discussing drafting a Wr or QB

3. Curtis Johnson- He has been the NO saints Wr coach for the last 4 years, and he was the wr coach at miami with andre johnson and reggie wayne. It would be suprising to get an OC who has no experience calling plays, but he is regarded as one of the best WR coaches in the NFL.

I know this is long but I wanted to make sure I hit everything

Draft Julio Jones in the latter half of the first and there's the perfect compliment to Boldin, Mason's replacement, and someone that can grow with Flacco for years.

Infuse some youth on the D line and draft a solid LB to compliment Ray because Gooden and McClain just don't get the job done (I'm still waiting for Ellerbe to hit his stride, really like this kid).

Please, please, please resign Gaither. I beg of you, Ozzie.

Lock up Ngata for life and if Kindle still can't go, draft or sign a stud OLB.

I like the DB's we have. I think a lot of people don't even remember we still have Foxworth lol. Foxy, Webb, Carr, Wilson, Fabe and Williams sounds solid to me. But draft a DB if that's the BPA in any given round, preferably someone who can lay down the law with a tackle.

I would love to see us draft julio jones next year. That would be amazing for our offense and joe. I don't know why a lot of people don't like him, but he can run every route, has great hands and is a big target for Joe. I watched him over the past couple of years and he is good at getting open, and getting YAC
