Next Game: @ Houston Texans

I'm neva worried with the Ravens coming off a loss, we normally dominate the very next game. If our pass rush continues to do what it do which I see no reason why it shouldn't , we destroy the Texans!

Everytime joe has been criticized or cam the team bounced back quite well.

Bounced back from cincy with the cleveland game bounced back from ne with the buffalo game.

Houston is a bad pass defense coming at us at the wrong time for them

None of our corners are really that well suited to guard him but if I had to pick anyone it'd be Wilson. He's done a good job this year but he will need safety help from Reed for sure. Not as much worried about him as I am Arian Foster out of the backfield catching passes though
Hmmm...after watching Wilson miss tackles on Wallace throughout the Steelers game, I don't know.

As for Foster, Cody needs some playing time in this game.

Take my comment in perspective, based on the other corners we have he would probably be our best option, either him or Carr. Wilson's missed tackles on Wallace were a result of Wallace having enough space to accelerate and make moves. I'd be shocked if we don't jam Andre on the line every play.

We dont jam anyone on the line with regularity, what makes you think we would jam the best WR in the NFL.

I think it's of dire importance to keep someone on Foster during 3rd downs. With Owen Daniels' injury woes, and the inconsistency of the rest of their WR corps, Arian Foster is actually their 2nd leading player in Receiving Yards. If we can roll coverages to Andre's side, and keep Foster contained (Which is much easier said than done), pressure should force Schaub into mistakes as he looks flustered when his pocket collapses. The Texans have a tendency to abandon their running game if its ineffective early on. If we can control the middle and force him to bounce outside, hopefully they'll flip that switch and become much more one dimensional. But whatever the strategy is, this should be a very interesting match-up.

HBs and TEs dont usually kill us in the passing game, not that im saying neither are good players but for whatever reason our coverages on TEs and HBs are usually lights out.

True. It's just that facts that he's averaging 49 Receiving Yards against 3-4 Defenses makes him a concern. But that's a good point. In fact, we've held all but 1 TE under 50 Yards all Season. Granted we haven't faced that many elite TEs, though we did an extremely effective job against Winslow and Gonzalez, limiting them to a combined 82 Yards and 1 TD. I haven't done my research, but I'm almost certain that Cadillac Williams, Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown were the only RBs to have or more 40 Receiving Yards against us as well. I hope this statistic continues to go in our favor this Monday.

I would imagine that the recognition of AJ as the best receiver in the NFL warrants being jammed at the LOS to disrupt his routes. Having him on a free release allows him to either beat the medium coverage more easily or sit back and catch a bubble screen, which would be devastating given our corners' inability to tackle.

The only CBs in the league that have had or I could see having success pressing Johnson at the line are Asomugha, Revis and Woodson.

Ya but you actually need corners who can press to press...and not just a corner who can press but one that is as big and strong at the point of contact.

Part of what makes Johnson such a great receiver is his size and strength, which makes him extremely difficult to jam at the line. We might be better off giving him some space and just refusing to let him beat us over the top. Keep Ed Reed back deep and shade him toward Johnson to discourage them trying to go deep on us.

The biggest threat their defense has is Mario Williams, whom they like to move around to confuse the line and get a favorable match up. We need to always know where he is and be sure to double team him, he's such an effective pass rusher. Shutting him down will be the key to protecting Flacco and allowing our passing game to get in a rhythm, especially considering how vulnerable their corners are.

I for one can't wait for this game. With all the stories coming out of the Ravens camp this week, I'm looking to see an inspired Ravens team. The loss to the Steelers was tough, but it looks like it was the wake up call this team needed. I see us going to the running game early and often. That'll slow down Mario Williams coming off the edge, and then Flacco will be able to pick apart their shaky secondary with play action and regular passing. I'm not worried about the defense at all. They're going to be way too physical for the Texans running game. I know they've struggled(relatively) this season but they're getting better every week. Andre Johnson will do his thing, but as long as the corners limit big plays they'll be fine. I'd hate to be in the way of this team right now. I'm looking for a BIG Ravens win here to make a statement on national TV.

This is true and I hope we find one during the draft next year. For now I guess our lack of size is going to force us to play off coverage so I hope our DB coach (sorry I can't recall his name) is putting these guys through some good tackling drills. Heard the team is practicing with pads this week!

We definitely have a need there, as well as ILB next to Ray, and a pocket pusher and the interior Oline. Gonna be a critical off season draft wise. Ozzie imo needs to fill 2 of those 4 with instant starters.

I always love that time of year.

Nevertheless, with what we have now it's imperative that we don't come out flat, fatigued from the rough practice and still feeling the aftereffects of the Pitt loss

I think they resign gaither and sure up that oline. I think birk can give us atleast one more solid season. I would like to see the ravens draft a prototypical #1 type reciever, considering that our core is fairly up there in age. We will need someone to groom.

This is also a pretty deep cornerback class, so a 2nd rd or 3rd pick coukd be used there. Unless somehow the kid out of lsu falls to us by some miracle. I would sure love to see him or aj green in purple and black

I just read this ESPN article by Ron Jaworski and while he brought up some good points throughout, this statistic stood out:
On blitzes this year, the Ravens have given up 10 touchdown passes and made only one interception.
It's a really good thing Suggs has elevated his game since the bye and the team can commit more people to coverage because blitzing hasn't been that effective this season.

I think our guys will have their best game of the season this Monday night, this goes to players and coaches. I think Cam will get the monkey off his back and keep that pedal down until the clock says 0. I think Boldin will make a STATEMENT that he needs the ball more. Donte will finally get a TD for us and I see Housh being targeted down the field a LOT. The Super Bowl run starts this week.

Our offense should have a field day, what with the Texans' crappy defense. :baltimore-ravens:

I don't want to see it happen but we could easily lose this game.
I think, if we win, this could be a sort of statement game as far as the playoff's are concerned.
If we win by a field goal, we may not do very well in the playoffs, if we beat them by two TD's, good job.
On the road on Monday night...
Who knows...
At least it'll be warm in Houston.

I don't feel that making a statement is a necessity for the Ravens. In Week 17 of last Season, we had a close call against the then-struggling Raiders, with JaMarcus Russell and Charlie Frye at the helm. What happened in the Wildcard? We're up 24 points after the 1st Quarter. Under Harbaugh, we've always seemed prepared for the Playoffs, so in actuality, being an underdog would play in our favor. Only one phrase comes to mind in this situation. "Just get me to the dance."

I hope we send more inside blitzes. Ngata is getting double teamed all the time. If we send more guys up the middle Ngata will be singled up. I like our chances more times than not with Ngata being blocked one on one.

This week may just decide where they finish or if they make the playoffs. Tonight's game and sunday's game vs NO will be a test of determination. Sunday's game could be a great tuneup for the grind of the playoffs or it could be a back breaker...the schedule maker was not kind!

Keyword here is "should". If we dont score more than 4 touchdowns, I am going to consider it a bad game.
