Flacco Or Dicksons Fault On 4Th And 2?

Boldin was running a slant and was Flacco's first read, Dickson was doing whatever that route was called and I know I saw Housh and Mase run deeper routes while rice blocked. This is just memory and could be incorrect, but I know for a fact Boldin was running a slant and was stuffed by 20.

Yeah, you're right about that. Q was mugged at the line but Joe did everything right till the throw.

i didn´t read the threat but what i wanted to say about dickson is that i liked it a lot that he was right in front of donte to block on the long bomb and was also around boldin on his long reception. this dude seems to be pretty fast. i like his style a lot. could turn into something special!!!

After watching that it doesn't look as short and poor as it was on TV (though yes it was still short and pretty bad).

It looked like Joe didn't even get a good look at Dickson. He just turned around and let it go expecting him to be where the ball was placed, not analyzing the depth he was running the route.

Though I kind of fault Dickson though. He's an NFL Athlete. rookie or not. A real determined athlete and instinctive player would have immediately sensed the ball was thrown short, adjust himself, use some agility and dive for it. He would have still gotten the first.

EDIT - It looks like Boldin could have been wide open as well had he adjusted his route to a quick out since McFadden was wayyyyy inside. Is Boldin allowed to do that?

I think a few things happened here.

1. Pressure was on. Flacco had to get rid of the ball fast at that point.
2. It appeared that Flacco expected Dickson to be somewhere other than where he was, meaning that he either got held up at the line or did not run the expected route.
3. Flacco tried to float the ball a bit to get over the hands of the LB that was in his face.

While one can say the game hinged on this one play, I disagree. We had it all going our way. We were aggressive and it was paying off. Then, nothing. And no creativity on 4 and 2. McClain was out but we knew this way early and we had no back-up plays for short yardage? Nothing? IMO we should have had some sort of plan for short yardage situations. Something creative. Cam fail.

That is 100% on Flacco. The pocket is totally intact. Dickson is wide open. That is an EASY throw at that level. Maybe Dickson could have made a play on that ball, but it would have been an incredible play. That throw needed to be made. There's no excuse for that.

Actually he was playing him heads up at the snap. Boldin, nor anyone in the league, is allowed to decide half way through a slant that he instead feels like running an out.

I hope the Ravens brass CRUCIFY Cam Cameron ... what an utter FAILURE. You have these offensive weapons and can barely put any points on the board. The offense is not even in the top 10!! PATHETIC! Plus he LOST the game for us Sunday night against the Steelers ... our defense had been stuffing Pittsburgh ALL game... your down around OUR 30 with 2:30 left in the 4th quarter and he's passing .... RUN RUN RUN PUNT, /rinse, /repeat. I had full faith we would have stuffed their offense (again), they hadn't even scored a TD on us - up til then. The Ravens were out coached this game ... they definitely weren't out played .... thanks CAM!! <not nice no personal attacks>
