Players Frustrated

They should be frustrated. If we can't beat the Steelers when...

1) We're at home
2) Big Ben has a bad foot limiting his mobility
3) The Steelers o-line is decimated allowing us to generate some of the best pass rush we've seen in a long time.
4) Plus the Steelers lose Heath Miller and is down to their 3rd string TE further limiting their pass protection and offensive playmakers.
5) We get not 1 but 2 pass plays over 60 yards.
6) We win the turnover battle 2-1
7) We have a TD lead heading into the 4th quarter
8) Our secondary plays a really good game.

Also, don't forget that the Steelers didn't have a punter in the 2nd half. Sepulvada messed up his acl and we were punting with Suisham. Just adding to your list, no ill will intended.

I thought I was forgetting something. But thats more an example of how lucky you guys are more than anything. You guys chose the perfect time to get rid of Reed. Otherwise you would have been in real trouble. But Suisham looked like a professional punter out there.

You call it lucky but if Reed was doing the job Suisham did yesterday kicking fgs who is to say the Steelers wouldn't have won the first matchup against the Ravens since Reed missed 2 fgs so I can say you guys got lucky in the 1st game??? But that's ridiculous, I don't really believe that though, but Im just saying.

And Suisham definitely looked like a okay on two of the punts but don't forget on the possession Flacco got stripped. Suisham punted it to the 4 yard line only to have a mindless penalty on the Steelers let you guys get it out to the 27 yard line instead on the re-punt.

So by no means were the Steelers lucky yesterday. Most teams create their own luck, just saying.

Who is really suprised at the outcome of this? This is exactly what i expected to happen. Every game we have lost this year was due to a blown 4th quarter lead and we always lose to the steelers this way.

I was holding out hope that it wouldn't end this way. That said, I was never comfortable the whole game.

To lose a game that we clearly dominated so much of like this hurts, and Mason is 100% right about that. To say that Cam is totally responsible for the loss may be unfair, but his share would be large, considering how he tried to run out the clock with 9 minutes left and a 4 point lead. Against the Steelers, that's the time when you go for the throat, not where you curl up and hope it ends soon.
Playing stall ball last night reminded me of one of the Cowboy/Steeler Superbowls in the 70's when Tom Landry had Roger Staubach do that early in the second half with a slim lead. Didn't end well for Dallas then, didn't for us last night, never will.

At least all those losses are against good teams, minus the bengals.

Yup. There is not a single loss this season where we were blown out of the water, every single one we had a lead and gave it up in the fourth quarter. Very upsetting because we could be 12-0 if not for minor mistakes in each game...

Cincinatti: Had Joe thrown two picks instead of four we could have won. Still throwing four picks and losing only by five.. this was clearly a winnable football game.

Patriots: Where do I start? We had so many chances to win this game but we played a conservative offense at the end of regulation and in OT and basically let the Pats have chances time and time again.

Atlanta: We scored our final TD to soon. Plus the offensive pass interference is another issue though I won't beat that like a dead horse.

Steelers: Essentially the same as the Pats game. Stopping the fumble and the missed tackles could have limited them to 6 or 9.

The worst of what Mason had to say (for me) was when he questioned why he bothered coming back this season. I understand it was mostly just him speaking out of frustration, but damn. Sucks to hear such a dynamic, big part of our offense say that.
And when a guy of Mason's caliber says stuff like that (whether out of frustration or not), it ought to be serious warning bells to everyone in the organization that there are issues that need to be addressed--the entire team behind closed doors.

Hearing malcontent from the fans is one thing....but to hear it from some of the team's most respected veterans....I only hope that the Big Men Upstairs are paying attention to this. I really do.

I hate to be negative, but the players are frustrated because in the back of there mind, they know if they couldn't beat the Steelers now, chances are they can't in the playoffs, once the Steelers get healthy.

dang -_- i think Mason may be done after this season if we dont go all the way....
Well just think, he had a offer to sign with the Patriots so not only is it sad to hear him ask why he came back but he also could be thinking, why didn't I sign with the Patriots.

Hopefully this turns around the team instead of causing a split in the locker room.
I don't think the locker room will split and hopefully this turns the team around but I'm just hoping The Front Office is hearing these complaints and is thinking of getting rid of him.

On a Side Note...... what Free Agent Offensive Coordinators will be available in the off-season?

Help Wanted: Offensive Coordinator who will use our Talent better and not keep QB handcuffed.

What I'm worried about is if this is the sort of play that we end this season on. Mason ain't coming back. Ray ain't coming back. These guys aren't coming back and putting their bodies through this if this is how we are going to perform.

These guys came back because they thought the FO put together a juggernaut. A team that could win it all and be great favorites to do so.

Dont delete my comments. Freedom of speech. I am not being disrespectful. The Steelers are a better team always.

Honestly, I would say just give the job to Zorn for now. And as much as we are talking about how Cam sucks (which he does), I think Mattison needs to get some criticism for the poor tackling and technique by our players.

I pray that we draft a strong safety next year.

A loss is still a loss and against good teams makes us a not so good team. I feel real good now.

It's funny cause it looks like Mattison is finally starting to figure out what works, for the most part. But Cam is screwing everything up. Here's to hoping he gets the boot...there's a reason he's not in San Diego and I see that now. He's only good with rookie qbs cause playing conservative with the passing game works better then

I'm as angry as the players themselves. I stayed up late and sacrificed sleep to see offensive playmakers make no plays the second half. What is up with that?
You stayed up late, how about me and 71,000+ fans sitting in the freezing cold...thinking we got this and to lose in the final 3 minutes...sucks....We Need some serious work if we even think were making the playoff's. I'm sure glad I have'nt paid my playoff invoice yet, now I know I'm waiting until after next Monday night game.

Add to the list the possible loss of Housh and Stallworth who have only 1-year deals, the likely loss of McGahee and we could find ourselves with a stripped down offense. Next year they might hand out paper bags instead of cheesy towels.

Even with the losses in personnel, just the subtraction of Cam(which I think will happen now) will help the Ravens progress offensively.

It baffles me and makes me wonder if Cam understands the term running up the score. He gets a 3 point lead in the 1st quarter and is like "This is good, don't want to be accused of running the score up herherher" I really hope the players push the FO to get this bum out of here. In Joe's Rookie and Sophomore season we thought he was a genius cause he was playing conservative to protect Flacco now we know he is playing conservative because that is all he can do.

Agreed - The fans have been posting what the players haven't for weeks - now that players are speaking up, it confirms our suspicion that Cam is clueless, and has fooled us all for awhile - same thing happened to aor previous offensive guru - they all get exposed eventually

The offense failed spectacularly tonight but let's not pretend the D has been lights out all year.
Minus the Buffalo and Falcons game...I really cant think of a game that the defense can thank the offense for....cant really say the same for the offense. What bothers me OC wise is there really anyone else that is better than Cam out there in the offseason?

Me too. I was hoping for a big lead so I could get a headstart on beating the crowd departing from the upper level. I foolishly stuck it out thinking we might witness another comback. Oh well. As far as making the PO's, we still control our destiny. The west and south are full of 6-loss teams. We know NE or NY will get one wildcard leavin the Ravens to claim the second if they do not completely self desstruct over the next 4 games. It could very well happen, but if we win, we're in. I'm not very confident about how far we go however.

Yep. This time, it's even more painful though because the team has more talent at the skill positions than ever but is being held back.

You're right. Those were the two games the D didn't hold up to their end of the bargain. With the Falcons game though, the offense didn't show up for an entire half.
