What Is The Ravens Identity?

Browsing these boards, I can sense the frustration amongst all the Ravens fans which I can understand. I know a lot of you are frustrated by the call where Troy stripped Flacco and were wondering why Cam was even passing in that situation.

But rewind to the last Ravens/Steelers game when the Steelers stopped the Ravens on the first 4th down conversion near the Steelers endzone. The Steelers came out and just ran the ball three times and played it conservative only to give the ball back to the Ravens to drive it down their throat.

Cam was realizing that this is Ben, how many times had Ben come back and beat you guys in the final minutes. Cam wanted to keep the ball out of Bens hands, they didn't just want to pound the ball 2 more times then punt it.

You can't call the play calling conservative one second and then outlandish and wild right after. The play calling by Cam was consistent throughout the game but he was not the reason for this loss. It was player execution.

Identities are a joke. An offense, especially one with the personnel the Ravens have(specifically at the skill positions) should be able to adapt to the situation and perform. You don't sit on a 10-3 lead for over a quarter and expect to win the game against one of them most clutch QBs in the league.

Player execution failed at times but the plays called didn't give me confidence Cam was actively trying to put the game away.

Actually, I think mattison did some unique stuff tonight. And, pretty sure the forum champions were calling for his head for awhile.

People will always assume if theres talent they should win, else its the coaches fault. Which, is probably why you think people are saying that stuff.

Cams fine imho. If anyone lost the game, it was a combintion of polamalu + dick lebeau.

We were bunched up and didn't force Polamalu into coverage. We had a terrible game plan, and when Heap went out I knew our pass protection would suffer. I don't know who was at fault for that play, but it was ridiculous. We take big sacks in FG range, our team is just inconsistent. That's our identity, great potential and terrible inconsistency. That's three crucial games that we've scored 10 points in. If you had told me before this game that we'd hold the Steelers to 13, I'd have expected a win. Cam didn't spread it out, he played a stupid game again.

And not even considering past games, Ben didn't drive down the field all game for a TD until the Ravens gave him the field position to do so. Not to mention defense was on the field the majority of the game. I would of ran out the clock, give the defense the rest, and make Ben make that TD and drive on a full field.

Even still, our offensive playcalling was conservative. We are content on sitting a small leads thinking our defense will let us keep it. Our defense can only do so much. I am not a fan of Cam at all.

This is the same identity the Ravens have had in past years. Play great defense and the offense screws em over in the end! It just hurts more since we have an influx of talent on offense but the coaches don't want to use them to their full capabilities.

Agreed. Calls like that work against the Buffalo Bills, not against the Steelers.

This game was like a nightmare of everything I didn't want to see from this team. After we scored in the first quarter, I thought it might be different. But sure enough, we made all of the same mistakes. Just blew it. This is one of the worst losses in Ravens' history just by the sheer amount of fail.

I really am trying to think of a reason, but can't. Apparently Suggs knows more than Cam (watch post-game conference). It embarrassing.
