Ravens Have No Heart! No Championship Mentality

[i]Just trying to cheer everyone up.

What does it really mean if everyone turns their back on this ball club, the Ravens organization goes bankrupt and Maryland folks have to start rooting for the Redskins again? Think about that.

~ Malkavian Raven

PS: Please neg this comment if you are a Maryland native who would hate having to revert back to the Redskins.

I'm not turning my back on this organization at all. I never will, I still love the Ravens.

CAM's heart is probably not the right thing to question....I believe the correct question is DOES CAM HAVE NFL FOOTBALL IQ? If so, then where are all the plays from his playbook?
Cam needs a course from Belachik - as I am watching them totally dismantle the Jets from every possible way - 5 wideouts empty backfield sets - imagine that, see who Palmolive covers and go away from that...I can only imagine

I am so sick of Cam's play calling, he needs to go!

lol Hmmm...a trip to the Office of Oz might help then? Do you think he has what Cam needs in his little bag?

I'm not a supporter of Cam but even I'm starting to get annoyed with all this blame on him. Most of you are blaming ONE PERSON. Think about that for a minute.

For the record, we did put the ball in the air with a late 4 point lead on a throw to Mason that was PI and got us a first down. He also called a pass play on the fumble. It was a missed assignment by Oher. Was it Cams missed assignment? Is it Cams fault that we couldn't keep the Steelers out of the endzone near the end of the game? Is it his fault we couldn't tackle.

Also, on our final drive, it was Flacco and the players out there who need to be held responisble for not coming through. Was it Cam's fault for Ohers numerous penalties? What about the fact that we couldn't open any running lanes?

Cam deserves his share of the blame, no question about that. And he had a few really puzzling play calls like the end around to Stallworth and a pitch running play AT James Harrison on second and long on the edge of field goal range with the passing game just starting to heat up.

But spread the blame. Because ultimately, the TEAM needs discipline and accountability. As far as I can tell, it's everyones fault for this loss because ultimately, no one played well enough to win since we didn't win. People need to realize that.

Hello everyone, this is my first post so please be kind, just kidding.
I know this was a very tough loss and I'm very disappointed as are you all, but I've been reading these boards for a while and some of the doom and gloom posts are...I don't know how to say it but they're ridiculous.

I just want to put in my 2 cents about this season as a whole. Look, no team is perfect in this league, all have their issues. Now, that is no excuse for playing as poorly have the Ravens have at times, both on offense and defense, and for losing so many 4th quarter leads, but even with our problems we are still 8-4 and in a solid position to make playoffs again.

I don't want to sound like I think its ok that they lost this game, and the other 3 games they've lost while having the lead, but teams hasn't yet played up to its potential, it's like when the offense has it going the defense doesn't or the other way around. The important thing that I want to point out is that despite this, they've been in position to win every game they've played. Not many (maybe no other) teams can say this, and this I feel is a huge positive, it means that the team doesn't give up and doesn't get down when things go poorly.

The ultimate goal is to win the superbowl, no one thought that they were gonna win every game, and I bet that not very many of you thought we would sweep the Steelers. This loss doesn't put the Raven's out of contention for the superbowl, and this team has issues but most of them I see as very fixable, and if they get things together and learn to finish games then they will be a force come playoffs.

I'd rather be a team that has it's issues and is 8-4 then a team thats hit it's ceiling in early December. I can't count out a team with the talent and, more importantly, leadership that this team has, no matter how bad it looks right now.

Living on the left coast, I'm not a full-time Ravens fan but I wanted them to win badly when they played Pittsburgh. If they won, they had homefield advantage, an advantage they need to go far in the playoffs. They played a great game: their offense took some downfield chances earlier and their defense was rock-solid.

With a few minutes remaining, it seemed that Pittsburgh was not going to be able to make a long drive against that great defense. The only way Baltimore might lose is by the offense giving up the ball or a special teams gaffe. Even if Baltimore would have punted on first down on the "fumble" possession, which is unthinkable, Pittsburgh was not going to score s touchdown on a long drive.

But then it happened! Palamalo unblocked. Flacco doesn't even check the left side or get rid of the ball quickly. All they had to do was punt. Their line collapsed at the end. Flacco was put under tremendous pressure and then, finally, the missed assignment with the game on the line. And Flacco's inability to complete the fourth and two pass.

I don't think Baltimore will recover from this loss. They may play better. They may win. In fact, I expect them to play well from here on but that's not enough. They do not have the stuff to go all the way. Pittsburgh going on the road and winning after being outplayed for 56 minutes. And with a quarterback that has a broken nose and a DB that played horribly, continually putting Baltimore in a position to win.

If Baltimore can't win a game like that, they are nor finishers. They only had to not make a turnover on the first three downs and then PUNT THE BALL! Their defense would have closed it out.

To all the CAM APOLOGISTS OUT THERE:

CAM needs to:

1.) Study the opponents tendencies, have a plan to counter and attack - failed

2.) Establish a rhythm with his play calling in a timely fashion to avoid delays- failed

3.) Have a plan to score 6 inside the RedZone - Failed

4.) Get the ball into your playmakers hands, Boldin, Rice, ETC. - failed

5.) Notice what works with Joe, and build around his strengths, No huddle, shotguns, quick slants, rubs, crossing patterns - short passes designed for RICE like NE does with Woodhead and Welker - failed

6.) Stay with the run even when only short yardage is available so the Play- Action works - failed

7.) Knowing McClain was unavailable, design new blocking schemes to thwart Pburg's tendencies like Palmolive and Harrison blitzes - failed

8.) Use your fastest recievers together or more often Stallworth and Reed, to open up the middle as you stretch the field - failed

9.) Use both Rice and McGahee together in the backfield, alternate blocking for the other to fill in for McClain - these guys know the plays already - failed

10.) BOTTOM LINE - Use your IMAGINATION to create plays for our playmakers during certain situations like 3rd and short, goalline, etc. - failed

If this was the first game, I wouldn't even write this, but I am so pissed off still, that somebody has got to knock some sense into this guy before he squanders this season. This has been going on far too long.

Have to start with the top - Harbs is letting him drive, he's got turbo boost in the garage in Stallworth and Reed, 4wd in Ray Rice growing spider webs.

My post is a combo complaint, outline the problems, and some easy solutions - if that hard head of his can grasp the concept of IMAGINATION

ok whos ready for monday night ME and yall jumping ship kinda make me think about those who treat some things in particular as a peprally , you aint never been there dont act all hype , I played alot of sport not football but as a pitcher in baseball I can tell you this. its never easy when its close and one wild pitch and your side is the goat . so before you Jump off the bridge into haterville let me say something some times a city gets behind a team in this situation and in Feb they hoist the lambardi it might not be pretty wins or easy ones from here out but we rally support and watch it feed our boys on the field the energy they need .

I saw a qb in highwinds throw passes I didnt think I would see 60 + yarders I firmly believe the dump to rice was wind effected it had the hight but died to early arch was good but the wind looked to have hit it remember we were driving into the wind. dont dump on them find the positives !

I agreed with everything in your post except for this. To expect a team to develop "new blocking schemes" in a week, practice them, while working on other parts of the game plan, and execute them in the game is a bit unrealistic.

Regardless, Cam has his issues.

It's not the players, it's the coaches. They seem inept at times let me rephrase that most of the time.

Fellas, not to try to save Cam or nothing but I have a few friends that feel the same way about their O- coordinators. Eagles and Cowboys to be exact along with the Steelers and Broncos use to be Head coach. Pretty sure most teams fans besides a few in the league is either calling for their O- coordinator or D- coordinator head so its only normal to have this type of backlash on Cam that many of us do. Its normal to be over critical of your team.

People have questioned Andy Reid's love of the pass for over a decade now and every element of the Cowboys is dissected.

Yes, it's common for fans to have problems with a coordinator but in this case, I really feel us Ravens fans have more reason to have a gripe than fans of those teams. The Cowboys and Eagles, despite some of their shortcomings, still put up points and I haven't seen them experience entire halves of offensive futility, even when facing sub-par competition.

The Cowboys are ridiculously talented and the Eagles have several explosive playmakers but the Ravens have strong personnel too and there should be no excuse for the way the offense has stagnated with a lead late against the Pats, Panthers, Buccaneers and Steelers last night.

Ray has enough heart for the entire team. I loved it when he wasn't scared to give it all he had bull rushing his body into 350lbs Kemoeatu when he recovered that Steeler fumble. Our defense played with a lot of passion, but our O seemed to lack good leadership and play calling. We made a few awesome plays but 60% of our calls seemed out of sync or very very conservative.

Well, didn't like the way the game ended at all, but all they can do is learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again. We need to get hot going into the playoffs because that's what seems to count the most. The ravens just need to start putting whole games together and we'll be ready to contend against any team in the league. I thought the Ravens played with a lot of heart in this game, but they made a few mistakes that cost them the game. Mistakes don't equate to a lack of desire or passion. They are just mistakes, painful one's, but still just mistakes.

I have a feeling we may get the division back because of the M.A.S.H. unit that the steelers are going to be fielding the rest of the year.
The Bengals almost came back to beat them last time and the Jets could knock them off too.
Yeah, I want to stay hopeful, and getting the division back is within the realm of possibility. We just have to hope that the Steelers mess up. Of course I hope for that anyway so...
