Merged: Flacco Is Not An Elite Qb

678 posts in this topic

This was a game for Joe to win. Only Cams Play calling kept the Ravens in the game. Joe is a great guy, but it is clear he is not an elite QB.

27 neg reps? What a bunch of "south bulls."

I'm sorry. Cam's calling kept the Ravens in the game? Trying to run the clock out with 9 minutes left, only up by 4 is playcalling to win the game? I don't think so.

If cam didn't go conservative after gaining a simple 7 point lead we wouldn't be in the position. Cam stinks and it is starting to show more and more every week. Get him out of here NOW.

Yeah. Joe may never be elite with Cam ultra conservative play calling. Still cant believe Polamalu went untouched. OL needs work.

I'm not going to make any such statement, but it is really puzzling when he can't: see the playclock, see Troy up on the line of scrimmage, and can't make a short throw with such an arm (especially when he can throw it 30 yards while being hit by Harrison).

The guy is a good QB, but sometimes he does some really questionable things... Does he even have a QB playbook or "cheat sheet"? I didn't see anything on his arm, and it's the first time I've noticed it.

Is this thread really blaming Joe Flacco? He WAS our offense until this <unkind word> of an OC got conservative AGAIN. That reverse just settled it. He's so <unkinder word> and has not a clue on how to call a game. He plays the offense into the Steelers hands, and if Flacco were able to audible, he could have changed out of the play where he saw Troy at the LOS. What an ignorant thread. Wow

I concur but let's not pretend like Joe didn't lose that game. He could've won in spite of Cam.

It his Joe's job to recognize the coverage and SHIFT THE LINE TO PICK UP POLAMALU COMING FREE.

3 times TP blitzes, 3 times he makes impact plays in the backfield because he comes free. That's CRAZY, and it's on Joe. Sadly.

Cam is not putting our offense in the best position to win, but in this particular (MUST WIN, might I add) game Joe dropped the ball.

Looks like I'm going on a Ravens forum diet for week. Let the pitchforking begin. :34853_doh:

Ray Rice should have got more screens. But yeah if by elite you mean guys like Brady and Rivers, no one that is not hyphy would agree that Flacco is as good as them. What it does show is just like Peyton Manning, when a guy has different players he is not used to around him, in different positions, and pass blocking that is just horrid, it is hard to win even at home. Flacco's last pass was off. A guess having all that pressure in his face messed him up. He did overthrow a few throws that night though. Maybe he was throwing to where Heap would have been if he was in, and Dickson was in the wrong spot. Either way though, we lost as a team. And it was a hell of a performance.
And to say Cam's play calling kept the Ravens in the game? That is just ignorant. There was no running. McGahee was forgotten about in the second half. There were no designed screens. All we were doing was attacking where Macfadden was. There is no brilliance there by anyone, it is just Joe knowing who was on whom.

Joe could have picked up Polamalu and called an audible to have someone block him. Only problem? Cam thinks audibles are overrated so Flacco can't use em.

That last pass was all on him though. Must have had some jitters.

this loss falls on Flaco, a professional quarterback in the NFL CANNOT UNDER THROW A WIDE OPEN RECEIVER LIKE FLACO DID ON THAT LAST PLAY!!! INEXCUSABLE!!!!

What are you talking about. Pro QBs under-throw and overthrow WRs all the time.

We shouldn't need a fourth down conversion when our defense held the opponent to 13 points. The streakiness of this offense is a signal pointing directly at the coaching/coordinating.

Ben was under and over throwing during the game (Hines Ward and Mike Wallace, both were in the endzone). Josh Freeman was under and over throwing all during last week's game. It happens to every single quarterback.

Anyways, this thread is beyond ridiculous. Cam kept the Ravens in the game? Are you serious? We're unable to run the ball, so we decide to attempt a reverse when trying to hold the lead. That couldn't possibly go wrong, could it? Or let's run on first down and go no where, and make it harder and harder for the offense to convert. Joe played a great game, aside from a few mistakes, but that's not enough to damn him as you are attempting to do.

The O-line really let Joe down. Yes, he made a baad throw at the end, but it should have never come down to that. And keep in mind he's still young. High pressure game, and he rose to the occasion until that throw. Good game, but I'm not worried about Flacco. He was our offense today, and he's clearly on his way. He'll learn a lot from this game, and from this season as a whole. So let's just take a deep breath everyone. Calm down. The world isn't ending. We're still in the playoff picture, there are 4 weeks left, and Flacco is a great qb. All great qbs make mistakes. Period.

Fire Cam and hire Norv, and you will see an elite QB.
I've heard Norv has some play calling issues as well.

But Flacco is definitely not worth the blame here.......

Er....you do realize we were playing the Steelers right? A Troy Polamalu and Dick Lebeau led defense?
While i see and agree with what you are saying to a point, don't panic, and keep things in perspective.

Yes, he is. flacco is just not. Good qb thought. Just not the talent yet.

yea you're right, but not on game ending play like that, this was a perfect chance for flacco to step up to the next level, he failed big time!!!
