This game has taken over my life, and I've only had it since noon today when I went to go pick it up...

I'm not even that far into the game yet, and I've come to the sudden realization that I could be doing all the things I'm doing in the game, in real life (minus the illegal activities).

Like...I was playing darts with the main character's cousin...and just cruised around town...and went bowling...and watched TV (the game has its own TV shows...I'm serious)...and went to a comedy show...and surfed the (in-game) Internet...

It's...addictive.

And I bought three other games today, too, so I have no idea how I'm gonna find time for THEM when I'm still playing GTA...

(AND I HAVE YET TO DO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!...I guess I'm never gonna see daylight the next two weeks)

And what about your studies???? :o

Well, after nearly 10 hours straight of playing (minus the 20 minutes of yard work I did), I think now's a good time to catch up on that reading for tomorrow's morning lecture... ;)

(This is sooooo unhealthy for me)

Funny thing is, I told myself that I'd find time to at least play the other three games I bought ONCE today, and I never DID get around to doing that...

Only himself. That's what happens to people who don't go outside.

Well, I was...but only when I had to.

Like, for once, the main character has a conscience (to an extent), and you're able to have him make decisions throughout the game that affect the storyline and the multiple endings.

So you can either have Niko be a cold-blooded killer as usual, or you can have him only kill out of necessity.

The storyline is pretty good, and the justification for Niko's conscience is believable. He's a former Bosnian war veteran, and there's things from his past that haunt him and questions left unanswered (hence why he travels to Liberty City).

In essence, think of it as The Rock's character in "The Rundown" where he doesn't enjoy killing, but he does it at the end when he has to. Except, Niko kills much, much earlier in the plot than The Rock did. And at first, it seems to be in cold blood, but there's reasons for it.

But, of course, that's not to say that there aren't plenty of immoral deeds in the game. It's still a VERY adult-oriented game. Think HBO's The Sopranos in terms of grittiness.

Then i got back on yesterday and i look down my friends list and i had 20 friends give or take online and about 15 were on GTA IV.. I heard the game really good and little things were added to the game that make it so much better.. Anyone have xbox live? Ill take you on when Madden 09 comes out or in call of duty 4..

Yeah I've watched the video reviews I've heard it's a 10, but not really my bag. I've rented the others in the series it was fun for a little bit. Like san andreas I liked riding around on the bmx bike, after about a week I was done with that game. Runnign around and killign hookers or beating up anyone you want gets kinda old. Plus it's not Next Gen. IGN has video review which I like cuz it shows the guy actually playing thru the game and not beatiful cut shots which mean nothing since it doesnt look like that when you are playing it.

I've owned a PS3 since about October of last year, and have rented a ton of games, but I only own one, Call of Duty 4 the best game I've ever played. And since it got game of the year, until something is better it's gonna be hard for me to purchase it.

I was looking forward to Battlefield Bad Company, but getting bad Beta reviews. Madden 09 is my next consideration.

I just bought GTA IV yesterday and played it from 5:30 till 12:30 straight.

It's taken over YOUR life, too! lol

This reminds me of that episode of South Park where Cartman had the technologically-advanced Dawson's Creek trapper-keeper that turned out to be a massive alien parasite like in "Akira" that assimilated Cartman and turned him into a massive blob of technology.

We, too, are gonna turn into massive blobs of technology. Or Cartman in the World of Warcraft episode.

Either way, it ain't gonna be pretty... -_-

7 hours? You need to get your priorities in order. If you're not playing it for 12 hours the first day you get it, then it's not very good, or you are a Video game prude.

Katt Williams and Ricky Gervais both recorded hours of stand-up and did their own motion-capturing, specifically for the game.

In addition, there's over-the-top, ludicrous cabaret acts (that are supposed to be horrible, btw), and original TV programming made up for the various TV channels, in addition to dozens of fake websites made specifically for the in-game Internet. There's soooo much content to read on those websites, the attention to detail and hidden jokes are simply amazing.

I haven't seen either of their standups but the British Office and Extras are two very overrated shows.

How can a TV show possibly be Overrated? If it's funny for someone, then it's funny. Just because YOU don't find it funny, doesn't make it overrated.

PS. Ricky Gervais' stand ups are hilarious, but that simpsons episode that he wrote and put himself in was absolutely crap in my opinion.

I'm not getting it until I'm done with exams (tommorow).

I've got a ton of willpower. Bought it about 3 hours after I posted this.

I've seen one of Katt Williams' standups, thought it was pretty funny.

Friends and critics rate & hype shows, so thats how it can be overrated. You can make the same case for sports teams that overperform or underperform. For example, while most of us here think the Ravens were better than their record indicated last year, other people would point to the Miami game and say we were even worse than our record (we barely beat Arizona).

Anyways, I do agree with what you say in principal but I'd be a hypocrite if I said I wasn't a judgemental person.

Just the way I judge you all very poorly for not buying me a PS3 w/ GTA4.

I think that TV shows and sports teams are slightly different, but it's a fair point.

I'll get you one when I get me one.

This game is just like real life. I just got gunned down by some cops while I was trying to steal money from an old guy so I could take a girl on a date.

Happens to me all the time.

If that happens to you all the time, why didn't you post it in the Official Thread for Your Daily Life? Besides the fact that's it's a lame thread, except for minford being a scuba-diving Indiana Jones.
