For being a great left tackle for a 13 year career he only made about 75 million dollars? #1 Pick contracts are more than that nowadays. Its crazy to think thats all he got for being as dominant as he was for over a decade.

Read the last sentences about his tenure with the Bears and you will see. Just blows my mind

You have to consider, though, that numbers from a decade ago should be adjusted for inflation. Plus, salary caps were lower back then and the market was different when he was in his prime. That's why you see veterans try to get contracts for more than their worth, as they know they'll never see the full length of the contract and would like one last payday to make up for the lost value from a different market several years ago.

Excellent explanation. I just thought it was hard to believe that someone considered the best at their position never got over 100M but that explains it pretty well. Im certain alot of other players have fallen under the same thing

Yeah, I was thrown off-guard as well until I looked at the link you posted and considered the span of time in which he played. It's not really something we think about because we all get too wrapped up in the big numbers to really consider factors like that.
