Who Thinks Boller Will Start Qb?

26 posts in this topic

I bet under Cam's system Boller will be the starting QB. He has a strong arm and with Cam's help hell wind up earning the starting position. I believe they'll put Flacco on the bench to watch and get the feel for the NFL play, and develop in practice. I think Troy Smith will end up riding the bench under Cam's system.

Thoughts?

I think there's a good chance Kyle will be our starter. He's obviously the most experienced. I'm just not sure that Flacco is ready yet. The competition in training camp will probably be mostly between Boller & Smith, but you just never know!!

Most likely going to be Boller, That does not mean I want him to start. Flacco is not ready. I'd like to see Smith start but I dont think it will happen. We really need a Vet QB I dont care who it is. Rodney Pete should come out of retirement LOL

Supposedly, the best guy out of training camp will start.

Kyle in all actuality will most likely start, but I would rather let Troy start at least half the games this year and bring Joe in for some playing time as the games wind down.

I think it will be a battle between Smith and Flacco. Boller has had many attempts and shots to prove himself to our organization and fan base. I think he was put in to early as a rookie...also look who he had to learn from....Redman and Wright, two other quarterbacks who never proved themselves. The only way I see hope for Boller is if he realizes he is on his last limb and sees he has the potential to loose his starting job and possibly get traded. Maybe become the next Drew Brees, which had a similar situation. But I dont ever see that happening. With Troy Smiths leadership and poise and Flacco's size and arm, I honestly cant see Boller fitting in the picture at all. Just my two cents.

As crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't be suprised if Flacco starts the season. If not, I could see Boller starting and if we lose the first few games, he'll be benched.

I don't think Cam is high on Troy. I would rather see Troy start the season due to what we saw from him last season. He was put into a "lose, lose" situation and made the best of it. You could sense Troy's excitement while he played. Sure he got whooped in Seattle but he beat thost Pittsburgh Squeeler here at home and that says a lot. This was a playoff team coming in here, not to mention a team that whooped our a** earlier in the season.

Troy played poised and never gave up! Always looking to make a play. I haven't forgot.

But in the end, I just want to win football games. If Kyle starts and he's winning, then I'll root for Kyle. I don't like watching this team lose! It brings EVERYONE down!

Im hopin Troy starts. Along with his start I want him to pull through with wins. If he does good and becomes good in the season. Then he just maybe be that QB we have been searching for so long.

I think Kyle Boller will excel in Cam's system, only question is will He be consitent thoughout the year? Troy Smith will probally be the backup and I see Flacco with the earpiece in his ear for at least half the season and maybe the entire season if Boller does well.

I dont mind seeing Boller on the field as long as hes consistant. If hes not consistant for 4 games I want to see Smith in. Then Flacco if Smith can do it.

I'm pulling for Boller. I really want to see him succeed, and with a new offensive system, I think this is the perfect opportunity for him to have one last shot. Unfortunately, I have a feeling Flacco will end up starting. The fact that we took him in the first round, and moved up to get him, gives me the feeling that there isn't much confidence in our current quarterbacks (Troy Smith included). I understand that we needed a third quarterback anyway, but I didn't think we needed one that early. I hope I'm wrong, and it's a fair competition, but I can't shake the feeling.

I wouldn't be surprised if any one of the three QB's on the roster right now pull away and win the starting job.

Although it will likely be Joe Flacco's job (or even Troy Smith's job) later down the line, all three have an equal chance since they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Taking the past out of the equation, as well as all the "intangibles" and upside, all three QB's have strengths that work in their favor under Cam Cameron's new offensive system if it's anything like his system in San Diego.

Regardless of who the QB is, the 1-2 punch in the ground game will be a strong fallback point on which Cameron can shift his focus, should the QB performances fail to impress. All the system needs is a QB with decent decision-making and a decent arm. All three possess that, to an extent.

With all that said, I wouldn't be worried if Boller wins the job, so long as he EARNS it.

Let's wait and see what happens in the pre season. Everyone will get playing time but i think Troy Smith will be the no.1 because of his mobility and his accuracy.

I'm waiting to see, pre-season & training camp should be interesting. I think there is a very good chance that Flacco will be starting.

I doubt it will be Flacco, we might not even see him play the whole first year. Especially coming from Deleware. The speed of the game, the reads, etc is too damaging, it's like throwing meat to the wolves. Guys like Carson Palmer didn't see starts until his second season. It is very rare to see a drafted QB start out of the gate.

Only chances are when teams know they cannot win they will give the learning curve to the rookie QB. Look for Boller because of the expierence. Or look for Smith because of our unstable Offensive Line.

If Boller does happen to excel under Cams system and "MIRACULOUSLY" becomes consistent then by all means start Boller. If not then Smith.

I want Kyle to win the job. Troy Smith is 4 feet tall with huge hands to make those throws and has wheels, but Kyle is a better QB.

You guys are frustrated I get it. I just love the Boller. Peyton Manning had happy feet too for a long time, not anymore.

He needs us to support him and give him one more season. I know there are going to be Smith or Flacco chants.

I select Boller, last chance for a glory season, now or never.

I am a Troy supporter but I can understand the love for Kyle. Kyle has played some incredible games for us over the last few years. Theres no doubt that skill wise he is more polished and capable then Troy, but with our OL, his extreme inconsistency and our dire need to try something new Troy is the better option. Troy played well, most importantly consistent in his starts last year.

As for comparing Kyle to Peyton...if Kyle plays consistent then we can talk about it.

yea. We can start comparing Kyle to Peyton when Kyle puts up Peytons numbers on the board. Along with a higher amount of Ws to Ls.

Manning STILL has happy feet, but he still know what to do with the ball.

He uses his feet to move around the pocket and not go outside of it like Kyle does. Mainly because the Colts O-Line hes a better job whereas Kyle "HAS" to run around.
