MERGED: Ravens Superstitions

19 posts in this topic

I assume most of us do weird things that we think will help the Ravens win.

I make sure I never miss the opening kickoff, that's bad luck.
On this site, when I see a news story, and click on the image to open it, I make sure I don't click on any Ravens player because for some crazy reason I think it means they'll get injured.
Whenever I'm in the bathroom, the Ravens either score a TD or get a pick. It happens 9 out of 10 times.
I will no longer use or buy a Ravens lighter because I feel they have brought bad luck when I've had them before.
My mother even tried to give me a Ravens lighter this season, and I said No Way!
I have a Ravens mug that has to be clean before the game.
I even had one where I had to drink a beer during the second half in order for the Ravens to win.

There was some show that showed a bunch of superstitions people did, one was about a guy that wouldn't let his wife move during a play...

Anyone else have any weird things they do?

Something I caught myself doing this season, is when the offense has the ball I cross my fingers on my left hand. Then when the defense has the ball I do the same but on my right hand. Yes I do this the entire game at the stadium and at home for away games. Seems to be working pretty good so far this season. Plus I always wear my Sizzle jersey to the game, got boat loads of other jerseys, but for some reason I have to wear my #55 to the bank for every home game.

Good post Jabara, something much different and can't wait to see what others have to say.

When I'm not at the games, my buddys and I will toss a little football around while watching. If the Ravens do something well while someone is holding the ball, that guy will hold it until (hopefully we don't) do something bad or mediocre.

This year for me it has been my Miami t shirt with my black Ray Lewis jersey, 8-2 with that combo, the game I forgot was the game against the Bengals.

Sorry mods, I wasn't sure where to post this since it was Ravens related, but is a bit general.

Another thing I tend to do, but forget to do all the time, but perhaps that's while it tends to be successful, is to say in my head 3 times, "miss it, miss it, miss it" while an opposing team is kicking a field goal.
I don't remember to do it all the time, but it works 75% of the time.

No other sport makes me this crazy...

This is kind of stupid, but when I watch the game at home I always stand up when the defense is on the field. Whenever the offense is playing I'm sitting down... but when the defense touches green I'm standing. If I find myself sitting with the defense on I get all nervous and anxious.

I can't eat during a game. I don't know why. Just don't do it. I never wear any Ravens clothes, but I always put my Ray Lewis jersey on a couch with his name showing and my Boldin shirt on the couch as well with the name showing and my Ravens banner has to be above the TV. I also have a Ravens candle, when lit, we lose. So I make sure never to light it. I also stand during offense and defense. I can't sit down when we play lol

I wear my black Ravens T-shirt the day after they play, and the Friday before they play their next game. I then wear it on gameday under my Flacco jersey. I didn't do this for the Bengals or Patriots games...

Just wondering about what superstitions fans have during game days. Whenever the Ravens play I always have to watch the game at home wearing my NY Giants jersey (yes Giants and no I'm not a fan, got the jersey as a gift). This season 2 out of the three losses, I watched the game outside either at a bar or a friends house. I'll probably never do that again.

I know its stupid but I do it anyways, what about other Ravens fans. Do you have game day rituals?

Believe it or not, there is actually a thread like this going on in another forum (as bdravens said) so this topic should get merged with that one.

This is my first time watching the game with a special ravens shirt I got, so we'll see tonight if I have to idolize this piece of clothing or burn it in a fire.

Other than that I got nothing. I just watch the game.

If I see you not wearing #55, and we lose I will not forgive you.
My superstition is watching it at home, not drinking, no Ravens gear on. I wear Ravens gear during the week, and will go out and watch other games with some bronsons. But Never for the Ravens. I am solely responsible for many losses because of that.
And I always end up peeing... a lot. I drink so much water because it is the only thing that will keep me from getting extremely sick during the game. I think during the Jets game I peed prolly 16 times. I missed the opening kickoff because of that.

Lol he did have quite a game. He is really getting into his groove now, I just hope he shows that passion and determination in important games in the future. We know he'll bring it in the playoffs.
