Just carted off practice field.....apparent shin bone break. Just heard it on 105.7

Damn. That's gotta hurt. I writhe in pain even when I just hit my shin on a table edge or something. I can't even imagine that much hurt on my shin. Good luck to him. I wish a speedy recover to him.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like it will be season ending. That is quite a loss for the Jets secondary. Rex loved using JL in all types of situations and on blitzes.

I saw that happen to a Marine in Norway. Not pretty.

Shame, Jim Leonard has a ton of heart. Ya hate to hear stuff like this.

I really don't know how much this will hurt the Jets because I don't know how great his backup is. I know that when Landry was out I thought it would be a weak spot, but Leonhard did well. Maybe the same thing will happen here. I do know one thing though. IF this does hurt them on defense pretty badly, it could really hurt us. Here is how: Jets lose this week, putting the Patriots as the #1 seed and possible home-field advantage in the playoffs. And other than last year, we know how that usually goes. And secondly, Jets play the Steelers in two weeks. If the Jets lose that it will help the Steelers win the division and have home-field advantage over us.
Who knows maybe Jets will stink it up and win those two games. But either way I think if possible, this week now becomes even more of a must win for us.

So you just assuming we lose tomorrow night? If we take care of business tomorrow against Pittsburgh then we will need Pittsburgh to beat the Jets to help secure home field and the # 1 Seed if the Pats lose as well.

Now for Jim... it's official he has had surgery and is on IR.
The Jets have announced that Leonhard officially has been placed on injured reserve, which means he won’t play again in 2010, regular season or playoffs.

Leonhard also had surgery on Friday to repair his broken right tibia. The team announced that the surgery was successful, which really doesn’t mean all that much since no team ever says that a guy got butchered.
No I am not assuming we lose. The last line I said it was a must win. Not "we will lose". I think it is a very winnable game. I just think this could hurt our chances at getting #2 seed, although it MAY SLIGHTLY increase our chances of getting #1 seed. What I was assuming, even though I hope it is not true, is that the Pats win against the Jets. Pats don't have a hard schedule left. Hardest games are home against Packers (it would be very tough on the road), and on the road against the Bears which is another very winnable game. So even if the Jets do pull it off this week, the Pats still have a pretty decent chance at winning that division. After a Pats loss this week though it would require at least a 1 and a half game turnaround (Jets would have to at least lose and tie one and the Pats win out).

These are all "if"s and "would help"s. We really don't know how things will turn out. I am only saying that I now see things as tougher as if they weren't tough enough already.

On the ESPN article about this injury Trevor Pryce says Leonhard is one of the best safeties in the game lol. I love Leonhard cuz watching him play cuz he looks like an everyday guy and works his butt off....but really Pryce...if one of the best in the game means top 20 safeties then yes you are correct.

I'm wouldn't even put Leonhard in the top 20. According to Rotoworld, he's been a liability in coverage this year.
