As a Penn State alumni who attended 3 seasons of Penn State football I can honestly say there is NOTHING else like an official white out. What makes it cooler is that the students "declare" a white out and EVERYBODY listens. They (meaning students in line) will not let you in unless you are wearing white. Show up in blue or in a mossy oak camo jacket cuz its cold...you better go find a white t-shirt to throw on top and quick. It is absolutely incredible. If you haven't seen one just youtube Penn State white out and you will see. The NFL will NEVER be able to organize anything like it and its HUGE too. Penn State has 110,000 in white screaming at the top of their lungs, so loud that you literally can't hear yourself scream. That is Ravens Stadium PLUS Camden Yards filled to the brim... let that marinate...

The Purple Out is a feeble attempt, but I hope it works out and that people adhere to it. I can see all the dumb yo boys now showing up rocking all black jerseys in a declared NO BLACK JERSEY GAME...

Yeah agreed. I have an alternative color Ngata jersey that I only wear during black out games. I also have a white Reed I wear when we are away.
However, Baltimore is purple, not black. Why someone would buy a black jersey as their only jersey for Baltimore still confuses me.
So on Purple Fridays I guess that person then wears their black jersey.

Is it that more alternative and fashion apparel is marketed for the NFL than NCAA?
Also doesn't each school have say in what can and cannot be produced? Just wondering.

And yes I agree. A cheap jersey is what $60 at Dick's. I for one would be rushing out to buy one for at least this monumental game since it has already been announced that they want a Purple Out. But for some people, fashion comes first I guess.
I can hear the Steelers fans already, I saw a lot of black Steelers jerseys on t.v.

Like mentioned in above post, I'm sure that poster meant to say black uniform, as in jersey and pants. I believe he just "mis-spoke", or typed.

The reason I can COMPREHEND what he [i]meant[/i] to say instead of what he [i]actually[/i] said, is because I know what was mentioned by Harbaugh a couple years ago. It was about the all black uniforms.

ETA: Also, Marcus said we haven't worn them since Harbaugh has been the coach. Well obviously we've worn the black jerseys and therefore that should tell you that he really meant all black uniforms.
