Fabian Washington, Our New Cb

As long as he makes the plays like Jamal did, I dont care that he wears number 31. If he starts to stink though, he'll have to give it up. We cant have him tarnishing the good memories we have of that jersey number. ;)

I hope he plays good. So I can go rub that jersey with his # on it to all the Raider fans I know. Saying how we "stole" their corner for a 4th round pick and he turned out great in Baltimore.

I can't see him NOT succeeding in our defense with his speed and athleticism and especially if he is starting out as a nickel playing 3rd WRs.. I see great things coming this season for him and our entire D.

~Next order of business for the "Wizard of Oz": GET SIZZLE (and our draft picks) SIGNED (prior to camps)... PLEASE!

Fabian could be a late bloomer like Asmougha. If you remember he didnt really come on until season before last, when they were considering cutting him. Then this past season people just stopped throwing the ball his way.

I was just about to point that out. Nnamdi didn't really come on until 2006 (his third season). Fabian is playing his third season with us. Players elevate their game when they come to the Ravens. I think that Fabian is going to have a breakout season.

Let us not forget the Oakland Raiders are a black hole for sucking talent out of talented players. When players leave the Raiders, a lot of time they re find success.

I think its awesome. The Radiers have no idea what they are doing right now or who they are benching. They lost faith in him after his rookie year. Fabian is young and we have the staff and teamates to develope him.

I think Fabian along with Pittman are solid backups and future talents. Martin and Prude still have yet to impress me but I watched Pittman develope in leaps and bounds last year among some pretty harsh criticism.

As for Oz - How does he do it. Former 1st rounder from 3 years ago with playing experience for a 125th pick uncertainty. Did the Raiders even look at the trade before agreeing?

Lets be fair. Al David did all the leg work on this one. He pretty much gave Washington to us.

You saw Pittman devolop leaps & bounds last season? Not saying that he didn't develop, but he didnt play alot, he played in a total of 7 games, started 1, and yes, he did have a good game, on the last game of the season against the Steelers (a team that was sitting out several starters, including Roethlisberger). IMO he has the ability, but not the confidence..... not yet. Hopefully that can develop. You say that Martin has yet to impress you, but yet, he only had one bad game against the Steelers, which was his very 1st NFL start against the Steelers, on MNF in the pouring rain ~ and IMO, no one had a good game that night. But every game after that, he improved. Do you recall the Seahawks game? He was damn near perfect in that game, and showed how much he improved. Not saying that Washington & Martin are comparable, but looking at stats alone for 2007, they are almost identical. Also Martin is only 22 years old and a raw talent. I think he can be a starter in this league given the proper coaching and chance to develop.

In my own humble opinion, both Pittman & Martin should see the 2008 roster, and get the chance to develop further, I believe they both have talent, but were thrown into unusual circumstances last season.... especially Martin. I have noticed that Pittman tends to get hurt alot, I hope he can have a healthy season to develop.

just to add to my previous post.....

I thought this was interesting:

2007 Season:

Fabian Washington: Games played 15, GS 3, 40 tackles - 33 solo, 7 assists, PDef 8, Int 1

Derrick Martin: Games played 16, GS 3, 40 tackles - 32 solo, 8 assists, PDef 7, Int 2

I seen Pittman play more impressive in every game that He played after the first. Martin DID NOT start in any game but Indy, and He played His best game in SEA when when He had 3 passes damn near caught and 1 Int.Pittman started in PITT and like you said had a good game. Both of these guys got better, altho they still need to improve no doubt.

Thats becasue teams mainly ran it against OAK, How many teams to you see trying to run it against us? Yea they was just tossing bombs all day at our young guys.Stats are always accruate but really they hide the truth most of the time.

Yea our weak link was our passing defense. Mostly because of injuries. But we got burned a lot too, which do not show up in the stats.

Oakland Raiders had a good decent defense.

I agree. I just said it was interesting. I know you can't only rely on stats. I just think that Martin gets a raw deal when it comes to fans, because we only remember the bad. I think the kid is decent, he just needs the time to learn & develop. I'm not sure what people expected from a late 6th round pick, i thought he showed he has the talent.

You have to earn respect in this league. If he plays better he will get respect. If he doesnt, he wont.

I'm telling you, this move by Ozzie to snatch up Fabian will turn out to be one of the most underrated draft trades this year in my opinion... nobody was really talking about it, and I think that's a good thing.

Its usually a good thing when people are not talking about the Ravens. Thats why I am glad the "experts" were mixed on our draft. We play our best football when we are being underesteemated.

As long as Joe Theisman doesn't pick us to have a good year, we will be allright. Everytime he says "defense wins championship, and I think the Ravens have that" That is when we have a horrid year.

We did get a good omen from Rod Woodson though. He said he thought we could win 10 or 11 games. Last year he predicted that we would only win 6 and well we didnt even do that.

Rod's always seemed like a pretty good analyst to me. Glad he's got our back this season.
