We did this last year at home against the Steelers too right?
No. It was the Wounded Warrior Project's "Protect This House" white towel. I didnt wave it much, though. Waving white flags isnt really good to do vs. the Steelers.....

i see nothing wrong with the "Purple-Towels!"

1st...they are inexpensive

2nd...the NFL is a "copy-cat" league already when it comes to formations and plays. remember the Wildcat? Miami broke it out first and had major success with it. now, there are a few more teams in the NFL that run it as well. the towel waving (although started by the steelers) is no different!

3rd....it's being given to you for FREE!

soooo, stop complaining and wave the damn thing!

LET'S GO RAVENS!!!

Are all you fans really gonna stand out there and wave purple towels again? Why would you want to copy your most hated rivalry. Do you really think we are going to be intimidated by purple towels> It may entice some of our questionable players to go put on a wig and some high heels but thats about it I think!

you sure do spend a large amount of your time here on our Ravens board to be a "so-called" steeler fan. interesting! it is obvious that nothing is happening over there so you come here where all of the action is and try to stir up mess! typical steelers fan! we understand!

I'm here because I am actually a closet Ravens fan-ever since that amazing 2000 team I've followed you guys pretty closely. It's only been this year when you guys were somehow picked to go to the SB that I started posting because of a team that has so much talent and somehow manages to play middle of the road offense. Then after reading all the posts from so many fans that continue to predict SB this year it kind of gets to me. IMO neither of us is going to the SB this year we just aren't that good! And I want to be around to read what all these guys say when that reality finally hits home.

Fans have the right to predict a SB. Nothing some guy on a forum say and certainly nothing you say is going to dissuade them from that. Don't try to justify your trolling with some weak explanation.

The Ravens offense being mediocre this year isn't really surprising when you consider the team's starting right tackle hasn't played a down and the addition of WRs and TEs. The addition of new weapons doesn't guarantee a high-octane offense, especially not in the first season or when the starting QB is in his third season.

Can you name one third year QB whose commanding a high-flying offense? It rarely happens.

every "true" fan hopes, expects and speaks that there team will go to the SB. as far as the Ravens being "picked" to win the SB, the steelers somehow always seem to have that tag by the so-called "experts." yeah right!

as far as the Ravens playing middle of the road....i don't see that! sure, we are still finding our way with blending the running game with the passing game due to our new weapons in Boldin, Housh and even Stallworth. but, it will all come together the way the Ravens and we fans expect it to...perhaps Sunday Night? i will be there live and in living color to cheer my Ravens on!

Yes I can name dozens but I will start with Dan Marino and most recently Matt Ryan. It is these excuses that keep me fascinated with posting here. You guys are a good team don't get me wrong but you are not going to a SB with Cam calling plays and your conservative approach when you have leads!

You may be right. New England is playing better than anyone in the league at the moment, so no one should be shocked if neither of us gets to the SB.
And I also agree that there is absolutely no reason why this offense should be ranking 14th - 17th in the major statistical categories, as they are right now.

I am very hopeful that we overcome our shortcomings, because the talent is there to do it. I would have that that after 3/4 of the season being played already, this offense would have worked out it's kinks, but we are burdened with a meathead at OC, so I'm praying that our defense will get it together in time for a final showdown. We have a lot of work to do, same with PIT, you are right about that.

Yes there is much work to be done on our side of the ball as well. We can still stuff the run but our secondary is almost laughable. Our offensive line is questionable and its possible you guys might have a field day getting to Roethlisberger. Question tho-are you supporting this towel thing. You guys have done it in the past and I found downright embarrassing to watch-considering it's a steelers trademark-why would you guys want to imitate us? a team you hate with a purple passion?

No, you CAN'T name dozens of third year QBs who were part of high-octane offenses. Marino is one of the few exceptions, not the norm.

As for Ryan, he is NOT commanding a top offense. The Falcons have the 10th ranked offense in terms of yards per game and are 13th in passing yards per game. Ryan himself Ryan himself is 12th with 19 passing TDs so again, you're wrong.

I didn't say the norm but of course you are wrong again-I will look back at the stats but off the top of my head I can think of many 3rd year quarterbacks that commanded hot offensive teams-lets see-Otto Graham, Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw and I'm sure there are more if i really dig. More current you say-how about Philip Rivers-Drew Brees-and who can forget Tom Brady! COME ON MAN!

I actually think it's funny, lol ... in a twisted way, it's an acknowledgement of our great rivalry. I have no problem with them chanting "Heeeaath"; but I'm sure you're not the only one who gets embarrassed by it.

Personally I don't care if Pitts does it or not. Waving a towel over your head to motivate a team is pointless. That is the thing with the Terrible Towel. What is so terrible about it? How is it menacing in the least?

I think standing on third down, kicking my seat back, and screaming defense as loud as I possibly can causes more problems for a visiting team's offense than waving a towel over my head like some guy doing a panty raid.

Are you serious?!

How am I wrong steeltroll? You said you could name "dozens" of third-year QB and all you can name are 8 QBs total? What a joke! But let's analyze the QBs you did name:

Graham was playing in the 10-team AAFC in his third season and is considered one of the pioneers of the forward pass. But I'll give you him.

Joe Montana is considered one of the greatest QBs of all time but even in 1981, he wasn't in the top 5 in passing yards or TDs. Still, the 9ers had the 7th ranked offense in the league so I'll concede him.

As for Bradshaw, the Steelers were a running team in 1973. How in the world can you call yourself a Steelers fan and not know that? The Steelers had the 5th ranked offense that year but Bradshaw barely did anything, especially in comparison to other QBs around the league.

The Chargers had a top ranked offense in '06 but it was more a product of LT having a historic season than what Rivers did so you're wrong there.

The Chargers were not a high-powered offense in '03. Fail.

Brady was among the league leaders in passing yards and TD his third season but the Pats had the 10th ranked offense in the league.

So again, how was I wrong to say not many third-year QB have commanded a high-powered offense in their third seasons?

You're questioning someone else's football knowledge? That's rich.

In Warner's third season, 2000, he played in eleven games and put up big numbers as he did the previous season. Fair enough.

But again, I go back to you saying you could name dozens of QBs that marshaled a high-powered offense in their third season. So far, you haven't even produced 12.

Not that it means much, but remember we have been playing some of the best defenses in the league so far this year...I personally wasn't expecting 25+ points/450 ypg against the Jets, Bengals (Even though they aren't good at all, they still had a good defense last year, which was the reason I didn't expect many points), or Steelers. We have had some off games against not so great defenses, but the season's not over yet. You can't count either team out, because in the end, anything can happen in the playoffs.

I agree, because quite honestly I didn't expect the Cardinals to go to the superbowl but they did. The playoffs are weird. If a team has a bad game or the other team has your number your out. People are even counting out all of these potential wildcard contenders. Sometimes the wild card teams can knock you out of the box. :th_grapes: Don't get comfortable yet because it's not over until FAAATTTT LAAADY SINGS.

How is a QB "running" an offense if he's handing the ball off a lot of the time and watching the o-line and RBs go to work like Bradshaw and Rivers did in their third seasons? That's managing a game, not running an offense.

And don't put words in my mouth. I said "Marino is one of the few exceptions". You haven't proven me wrong at all.

Whether off the top of your head or not, you haven't nor can you name "dozens" of big-stat producing third year QBs who were actually in control of their respective offense like you said you could.

Even if I give you Peyton, Ben and Kosar, is that even 12?

Don't question the football knowledge of others when yours isn't very high.

On a sidenote (I guess I can't jack my own thread, eh), I don't wash any of my jerseys until the season is over. To me it's bad luck to do so. All the sweat, beer, food, everything is on it for a full 6 months!
