Doing The Dumb Towel Idea Again.

While I don't love it, the idea is pretty good to hide all the terrible towels, so I don't have a huge problem with it.

Its not suppose to become a tradition! Just for one night, to out-do the Steelers. If I weren't a fan of either one of these teams, just watching SNF, I would think "ouucchh they are mocking the Steelers".

I do wish we had something more original to do, but what? Swinging anything other than a towel could be a bad thing with so many people close together (with beer). :)

I think the idea is better then doing nothing. I can't go to the game, so if you don't want your towel let me know, I will take it!

GO RAVENS!

Heres a point no one is thinking about:

The usual times when a Steeler fan would wave the "aforementioned" towel would be when their team is on Defense and at the time when they are the loudest and most disruptive...

Now should we be getting loud and waving our towels when Joe Flacco and them are out there trying to engineer a drive or pick up a big third down just to counter the many Steelers fans that will be in attendance?

That would be the only way we would hide the Yellow Towels from showing up on TV. Maybe we should just confiscate the Yellow Towels before they even get into the stadium, and give some BS excuse like some body slipped on one or something last game and Towels are no longer allowed in the stadium, that would be awesome.

There's a reason fans get loud when their team is on defense. It distracts the offense, makes it harder to hear your QB call out audibles, snap count, etc. So, no, we shouldn't get loud when our offense is on the field.

Of the top of my head, I believe this is at least the 10th time they've handed out a towel.

In the past we all kinda joke around and smack each other over the head with them. One time my wife used her's when she spilled some beer on someone.

Personally I have never swung a towel over my head to get fired up and doubt I ever will.

Plus, how can I do my typical 2-handed salute when the Steelers run on the field with a towel in my hand? :dancingbanana:

If the Ravens P/R department insists on doing this, PLEASE use towels that aren't cheap and flake off little pieces of dust/material that gets in people's eyes!

I can't STAND that, and I'm shocked it's happened more than once because I know there were numerous complaints after the first "towel episode."

Nothing worse than getting whipped in the face by a person who is drinking and flagging. I honestly don't know how Steelers fans stay in the stands. You'd think they'd all poke their eyes out with their drunken selves.

I think they should give you guys little purple cherry bombs. Enough to celebrate say up to three TD's and a possible victory. But also with an emphasis on banning whom ever may decide to throw one at the Steelers bench or fans. Just keep them at your seat. lol

I still prefer the idea when L Webb makes a stop (deflected pass or something) they unleash spiders into the crowd. That would be sick! You can even take them home.

Well, we'd find out who the hard core Ravens fans were anyway.

Now that isn't going to fly very long. But you are on the same level with me.

That's why I added the emotes so he knows it's all in good fun. I mean, we freaking wear purple.

These towels may come in handy if it's raining or snowing like they're calling for. You know, drying your seat, covering your beer and once they are wet, you could tie a knot in the end and throw it on the field at your favorite black & gold player. lol

We ridicule Steelers fan and their 'wicked scary' towel swinging behavior. And now for the big game, our marketing dept feels we too should swing purple towels over our heads.

This once again in attempt to drown out the 1000 or so who swing them, as long as they keep them, in our stadium.

As with all the other Talon Towels, it will go in my pocket to come home and set on my son's dresser.

I don't know why Kevin Cowherd is annoyed with the towel thing. If he is old enough to remember, the Baltimore Colts Fans started waving white hankies way before the terrible towel and the white hanky waving of the Miami Dolphins Fans at the Orange Bowl. The waving of the hanky originated right here in Baltimore.

This is true, not even close to being gold! I think this stems from the steel industry, they were wishing it was gold but in turns out it was just steel and it also turns ouy that the black and gold is really black and yellow! Sorry! As a matter of fact, it is old dirty school bus yellow! This is why Jerome Bettis would always sing the wheels on the school bus go round and round because he was a school bus!

its a one time thing always against the steelers to mock them plus it makes sure everyone has something purple which is our team color... its like the white out at Penn state etc. Plus they said they would like the stadium filled by the time ray comes out the tunnel so that NBC can see 71000 plus going crazy in nothing but purple to cover up the guranteed steeler fans that will be there like the plague they are. i can see the negetives you can are saying but basically they just want everyone waving it when our team comes out the tunnel so all of America can say "damn baltimore is going crazy" anyway im for it at the Ray dance and team running on but at kickoff it will be in my pocket and so will any yellow towels if there infront of me.

I think everyone is just taking this as something that it isn't. I really just do not think it is an attempt to make this a traditional Raven "thing". I think it is a direct response to the yellow towels that we all know will be there on Sunday and showing the Nation that this is a Raven house by burying them under a sea of purple. No more, no less.
[/quote]

Your absolutely right. This is strictly to drown out the yellow terrible towels. Its been well documented in the past why they do this (on nationally televised games). Wow, sound like Brian Billick.

There is a better solution. When any Steeler fan whips out the yellow towel around, we as fans just snag it and throw it down a few rows and blame it on the wind. The fans where the towels land, promptly dispose of them in a hidden location.

This is correct IMO, wave those towels and show the nation that Steelers fans cannot invade Baltimore!

i never liked the towel idea. WHY would we want to act like the steelers fans? why would we open ourselves to being seen as copycats or unoriginal?

also, you CAN'T clap while waving a towel
you CAN'T cup your hands around your mouth to amplify your voice
it's a strategy thing, we can help our team more WITHOUT waving towels

but i'll admit, at least you CAN wipe a spilled a beer with a towel

I have seen several towels whipped. I have also heard words mumbled at Steelers fans I would not even yell on my worst days.
There is no loss of love for those wearing Steelers jerseys in our stadium.
Those that say M&T is overrun by Steelers fans have not attended a game for a couple years.
And this year, I have a feeling, is going to be a very, very nasty crowd. ;)

I think it's a pretty good idea. This season could be a turning point for the two franchises. They took our tight end chant("Heap"/"Heath"), why can't we take their towel?

Also, I like pointing out city to city, the NFL championships are PIT - 6 BAL - 5. I'm just sayin.
