[Blogs] ‘Game Of The Year’ Up Next

The Ravens said the 24-hour rule on celebrating wins still applies after Sunday’s 17-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But they’re more than aware of what lies ahead. It’s officially Steelers week.

“It’s a game that’s bridged us into December,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said of Sunday’s victory. “It gives us an opportunity to accomplish some things.

“Now, we’re playing the biggest game of the year.”

Both AFC North foes will enter with 8-3 records. If the Ravens win, they would essentially own a two-game lead in the standings as they would have the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh if the two teams finished the regular season with the same record.

“It’s all set up to be a big game,” running back Ray Rice said. “There’s no excuses. They have Ben Roethlisberger. It’s going to be a big game. We wanted to take care of business and get to this game.”

Here’s what the other Ravens players had to say about the upcoming matchup. Obviously, there will be much more throughout the week.

TE Todd Heap: “We know that when the Ravens play the Steelers in December, it usually has a lot of meaning and this game coming up definitely does, so it’ll be a statement game for us.”

LB Ray Lewis: “I’ve been around so long, I’m telling you, it’s a beautiful thing to be sitting here right now and be playing for the division next week, at home. The season just doesn’t get any better than that.”

LB Terrell Suggs: “The Steelers are coming in. It’s Pittsburgh, if we had to play the game right now, we could play it. They’re our division rivals. Our teams are similar, and we just don’t like them, but we respect them. It’s going to be championship football.”

These games are always so crucial. Early in their game against Buffalo, I didn't think we'd stand a chance against Pittsburgh, but they made the same mistakes we did against the Bills. And with McFadden out, I think we should have a field day against them in the air. I just hope Oher, McClain and Chester are back by then. I don't think we have to worry about Landry. He should be back next game. That was a crucial hit he put on Williams. If we play smart and pick up our blocks, we should win. Definitely going to be a great game. We're going 9-3 after Sunday Night

This is epoch! Both teams 8-3, two of the biggest kids on the block about to duke it out. This is a "last man standing" deal. I know the Ravens are the better team. Time to show it!

GO RAVENS AND TAKE YOUR DESTINY!

This game is HUGE,we need this game.to beat Pittsburgh at home to take soul possesion of 1st in the AFC North will be a dream come true, but our offense has to step up,they NEED to play to there full potential, something they haven't really done yet.and our defense needs to score,as well as a complete game from special teams.if we can get Ben on the ground on the first initial hit and rattle him we have a good shot, but were playing Baltimore's most hated rival in my eyes.its gonna be a 12 round Heavyweight Bout as always, but we gotta come out on top,GO RAVENS!!!!

We can't over pursue rushing Ben this week. If we do he and Wallace are gonna have a big day. Ngata to me is the key factor here IMO because if we can collapse the pocket from the inside then guys like Suggs and Johnson or McClain should have a career day. The offense should continue to do what they have been doing and attacking through the air early and then release the RB's. It should be a fun week leading up to the game and an even better game, especially since it's being played at the bank..bring it Pittsburgh!

Gotta get this win, our schedule isn't exactly a cakewalk after this game so losing this game could ultimately end up making us miss the playoffs entirely. 5 games to play, thats a lot of football take nothing for granted and come out playing smart and hitting hard. GO RAVENS

I'm jacked for this game!! If there's a game that our team starts putting it all together, this would be great one to see it. C'mon boys, give us an early Christmas present!

I agree, this most definately will be a statement game. If our offense can put up at least 17 points or better, and our defense limits the Steelers ability to run and pass the football overall, I think the Ravens have a great shot at winning the game in our house and take a stellar 2 game lead in our divsion. Hopefully most of our guys like Oher and Le'Ron Mcclain will be able to get a day or two of rest, and rebound from any injury they had to deal with against the Bucs. Come on guys lets let loose and swarm and conquer a tired Big Ben and company come Sunday night!!!!

This is one of those game where we can SHUT UP a lot of the pundits out there. I get tired of them jumping on and off the Ravens bandwagon. This is a rivalry game so it's not going to be easy...but...we have an opportunity. I think we should play them the same way the Pats did. Spread them out and throw at whoever Gay is covering. He's there weakest link. We definitely have more offensive talent than the Pats do in my opinion. The one thing the Pats (Tom Brady) and company do better on offense than we do? Execute. We need to keep 3 or 4 Wr out there or 3 Wrs and one TODD HEAP out there (lol) with Rice or McGahee in the backfield. I think this gameplan should be implemented about 70% of the time Sunday night. Go Ravens!!!

our offense needs to dominate. I think we should do what the Pats did to Pittisburg's D. Spread them out with 3-4 WRS and 2 TEs. Because they are built to stop the run not the pass. Running will be very difficult on them

I read an article last week that said the Ravens play at roughly the skill level of their opponent. If its an awesome team, we give them a good fight and show we're a team to be respected. If its a bad team, we just kind of hang around and give the other team hope for a win. We really haven't blown any team out of the water like I KNOW we can. I really hope whatever is holding us back is gone this Sunday, because that kind of game isn't gonna cut it this time.

Oh, and get well soon, LeRon!
