Andre Johnson And Cortland Finnegan Get Ejected

99 posts in this topic

I don't think Cortland Finnegan has to do anything to get under people's skin. His face alone irritates me to no end.

Seriously, it's like he was made to be an irritating little...

finnegan strikes me as that guy we all know who for no reason just annoys people

not good for the game and considering how Goodell has reacted to helmet to helmet hits etc i'd imagine some sort of suspension will be coming for both players, maybe more for AJ considering the punches thrown

As much as i would like to beat the Texans i wouldnt want AJ to get suspended. Courtland is trash point blank period.

A suspension is probably in order for both of them, which especially hurts the Texans who have to play on Thursday night. Johnson's not that kind of guy; Finnegan has developed a reputation for being a chump and provoking a lot of fights in the past, so he must have said some really bad things for Johnson to go off like that. I was glad to see Johnson kick his butt though; it was long overdue.

REFEREE STOPPAGE DUE TO TKO (STRIKES)

Andre, even though I thought highly of him already, just skyrocketed in my book. I'm not going to lie and say "violence is terrible" because some people really need to get laid out. Sticks and stones works in middle school, but in a mans world...time to put up or shut up; however, I don't know if Finnegan is smart enough to do so.

Titans forum is funny/sad. The only decent one is the OP. Just think, if Bart Scott (the only person I could envision doing something similar) ever did such a thing back when he played for us? I know I would be pissed and ask for his head, as I think many of us would. The amount of homerism on the Titans forum though...is terrible.

I love the guy that said 9 for 56 yards is getting owned......when were they thrown out? 9 catches period is getting owned, let alone what AJ would have done the remainder of the game.....what an idiot!

I'm very comfortable saying that Finnegan is a disgrace. I'm sorry, but there is no pride in being the dirtiest player in the NFL, self-proclaimed or not. Playing mind games with the opposing receivers is one thing, and Cortland completely crosses the line it seems.

I feel dirty saying this (no pun intended), but Finnegan is the one person I'd actually love to see Hines Ward lay out.
If the Titans ever release Finnegan because they get fed up with him, Rex Ryan will be on the phone with him in a heart beat. I wouldn't be surprised if Rex tries to trade for him. Cortland would mesh well with Rex and his arrogance.

Rex just likes mouthy players who, really, aren't as good as they proclaim to be.

i.e. Bart Scott, Antonio Cromartie, Kris Jenkins, Darelle Revis (to a degree), Mark Sanchez, Braylon Edwards, and there are a ton of others. Finnegan fits right in with them.

PS - So glad we beat them down, legally, in Week 1. So glad.

Finnegan had this coming. As much as I liked seeing Roethlisberger get smacked in the face, last week, I almost equally enjoyed this.

Apparently, before the fight took place, Finnegan told the Houston sideline to "watch this" as he tried to instigate the fight on his first attempt, before proving successful on his second attempt. Thug isn't even the word for this guy, I'd be interested in hearing how many people (fans, players, and coaches) actually have any respect for him.

Where'd all the Finnegan hate come from? I'd love if this guy was a Raven, we don't have anyone in the secondary who is as fiesty as him.
Feisty? Cortland is far from feisty. I can think of quite a few words for him, and feisty isn't one of them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wouldn't want this worthless pile as a Raven, no matter how shoddy our secondary was.

If you're talking about trash talking yeah I could understand. But Rex wouldn't have a guy like Finnegan on his team with his bad behavior. Whether he's coached for the Ravens or Jets, can you really say any of his players have been ever been classified as dirty?

For as much as Fisher dislikes Vince Young for his scenes of immaturity and disrespect, I wonder what he thinks of Finnegan. The Titans have always had trouble with discipline and playing within the rules. Fisher may be a successful coach, but he can't reign in some "troublesome" players - Albert Haynesworth, Finnegan, Young, Lendale White, Chris Henry (the other one), and a handful more. Of course, the good outweigh the bad, but it's an issue.

wait, you're right....

Dang AJ! You are such a bully to beat up on mentally hadicapped wanna be gangsters. The NFL needs to put their foot down and show that this sort of behavior WILL NOT be tolerated. What message does this send to other mentally inadequate thugs watching this?? That bullies like you will whoop their asses and nothing will be done about it?!

Goodell, you better suspend AJ. Two games sounds about right to me.

The funny thing is, according to the ESPN article, Fisher didn't understand why Finnegan was thrown out (because AJ was the one that threw punches)

 ...

Fisher seems a little slow on the uptake. His cornerback is an instigator.

I'm glad Johnson isn't getting suspended. Again, what he did was wrong but Finnegan has been getting under his skin for several years now and really took it another level yesterday.

This is floating around twitter. LOL.

"Cortland Finnegan's new jersey will read "innegan" as a result of Andre Johnson beating the F out of him."

Andre Johnson is my favorite player in the NFL, and after this no one is even close to him.

WR's are supposed to be divas, and soft. This man is neither. He isn't a WR, hes a football player.

Don't mess this dude, unless you want an a$$ whooping.

Looks like no suspension will be coming for Andre Johnson. In all honesty, the guy doesn't have a track record against a punk who does.

But it is convenient that his next game is the Thursday night game on the NFL CHANNEL! Can't have one of the more marketable guys out.

How is that not feisty? A man who has a 40 pound weight disadvantage was trying to get one of the best in the game to lose his cool, and he did. What would you call it because if you don't think Finnegan is feisty you must think Revis is a cupcake. He is a feisty and ballsy CB period.

Call him what you want. His peers and most fans around the league consider him dirty.

Both players fined $25K for the incident - LINK

Seems pretty fair to me.

I'm not denying he's dirty but for how much hate this guy is getting I don't think it is deserved. I know if we had him he would most likely be a fan favourite. He plays far nastier than anyone in our secondary and frankly I love when a DB plays like that, Webb isn't even close to how chippy this guy is. Dirty, trash whatever you want to call it he is still far better than anyone in our CB group IMO and if he was a Raven he would be praised.

He would be a fan favorite? I'm sorry, maybe you can condone trying to instigate fights on the field (he tried twice against Andre Johnson this week, succeeding on the second attempt), but I, for one, can not. I'm not afraid to say that I think a lot of people would tend to agree with that. I do not care how "good" he may be, but the man is dirty, and he's even said he wants to be the dirtiest player in the NFL. Not the feistiest, the dirtiest. That is NOT someone I want in purple and black. That's not the attention I want for my favorite team. Not to mention, I highly, highly doubt that Harbaugh would want someone who plays like that on his team. There's no way he'd be praised for what he did and has done in the past by the Ravens, the Ravens Coaching Staff or the majority of the Ravens fanbase.

There's a line between being dirty and playing feisty. There's a difference between just getting under someone's skin to throw them off their game and jamming your hands into your opponents neck and face mask. That, from my understanding, is what Finnegan did multiple times to AJ. He wasn't just trying to throw AJ off his game, I wouldn't have been surprised if he was out to hurt Johnson, and I do not mean James Harrison hurt.

This is the last person I want in a Ravens uniform:
Finnegan (One)
Finnegan (Two)
Finnegan (Three)

He sure loves grabbing players facemasks, not to mention this isn't the first scuffle he's brought about. If the Titans want a disrespectful, pathetic excuse for a football player on their team, that's their prerogative. He's earned every bit of malice that people have for him, and I'm sure he revels in it.
