Keep An Eye On The Afc East

We need the Jets to win that division and so far they're matching the Patriots win for win.

We beat the Jets but lost to the Patriots. Therefore, all we have to do if finish tied with the Jets and we could be the #1 seed. It also wouldn't hurt that any rematch with New England would be in Baltimore instead of Foxborough again since they would be only a wildcard.

The way things may shake out, we need to protect the worst case scenario (assuming we're talking about the playoffs in some form) which is the WC. In this case, we'd want NE to take the East and have the Jets in WC contention, since we have the tie breaker over them.

I've got a feeling, at least for right now, that the Pats could fall off.
I say that because they have gained a lot of wins off being a team successful in transition.
Mainly because of their coach and Brady.
Teams will eventually catch on to them.
But, being in transition, other teams don't exactly know what to expect.
They seem to have settled down, and this looks like the Pats from here on out.
I hope I get to see the next Pats/Jets game, that will be a great game for many reasons.

I agree that we need to protect the worst case scenario more than we need that #1 seed. In our best interests would be the Patriots winning the division and the Jets to take a couple more losses. If we are then fighting for a WC we have the tie-breaker over the Jets.

Yep, I agree that many teams were caught off guard with big change in the NE offense. Soon they know, Deon Branch is nobody WR. He can fool young rookie CB but any vet CB will shut him down.

Alot of people thinking without Moss, NE don't have deep threat, so most of the time they take their eyes off for deep zone coverage. That's just a temporary exploit for NE for now. I'll bet now they should keep their old plan when playing against Moss. Branch is an easy shut out: just don't put rookie CB to cover a vet WR.

It's way too early to tell what we want. We'll have a pretty good idea after next Sunday, just in time for the Monday night game between the Jets and Pats.

I think the Jets have the better chance of falling off and struggling in December than the Pats.

They both have tough games left to play. However, the only tough road game for the Pats is at the Bears. As we know, the Jets-Pats showdown next week is in Foxborough, where they're practically unbeatable. The Pats game against the Pack is in Foxborough as well.

Meanwhile, the Jets still have to play at the Pats, at the Steelers and at the Bears as well. Not to mention, the Dolphins could potentially give them trouble, seeing as that's been the case for the most part over the last couple years.

I think the Jets are more likely to drop a couple of games than the Patriots are. Having said that, the luck that they have enjoyed recently has been insane. They had to rely on overtime to beat the Browns and the Lions, then scored a winning TD against the Texans with less than 60 seconds on the clock, that's just ridiculous.

I'm predicting that the Jets will lose a game or 2 to clinch a WC. I hope the Steelers lose their WC bid to the Colts because I fear the Steelers' defense more than Peyton's shaky offense.
