The Jets (9-2) have been thriving on last-minute wins, as has been evidenced in their last 5 games.

Correct....and you cannot championships playing like that!

Clutch teams and championship teams do have to win close games and play well when the games on the line. Hell, that's what separates the teams that win championships from the teams that don't.

Of course they have to win close games. Thats not the point. When you're continuing to have to do it, week in and week out, its not the formula for success. I really can't believe this is being debated. A few games here and there, okay; but every other week the way the Jets are doing it will not prove to be long term success.

Honestly, I don't think the Jets will win the division. I think they're either gonna beat NE then have a letdown against the Dolphins and struggle the rest of the way, or just lose to NE and continue to struggle after that.

But let's face it. A lot of past SB champion teams won close games practically on a weekly basis. The 06 Colts, the 07 Giants and the 08 Steelers immediately come to mind.

And the Ravens have had close scores against all their top-tier opponents this season, not to mention against the Bills.

Well, for our sake, I'd prefer NE to take the East and have the Jets fighting for the WC for tie breaker implications.

I guess I'm not conveying myself clearly.
Close games, yes, all teams go through it
Literally last minute wins weeks in a row, no, not a sign of a champion

AKA, I hate the Jets......let me hate!! :)

The thing is, not all of the Ravens games have been close. Not all of the Jets games have been close. Not all of the Jags games have been close.

We were winning close games early on on a weekly basis, but now were starting to blow teams out (Dolphins, Panthers). The Jets beat the Pats by 14 in week 2 and the Bills by 31 in week 4. Not to mention, they crushed the Bengals by 16 last night. It was only from weeks 9-11 where they won two OT and three down to the wire matches.

ALL teams go through phases when they don't play their sharpest and have to win by a meter. Some of them run out of luck or whatever you wanna call it, but some learn from it and go on to become champions.

Yeah, that way, we wouldn't have to worry about the Steelers or Colts winning the Wild Card.

Well, there are 2 WC spots, with one likely going to the East and one up for grabs.....

They may. But I hold very little faith in Jacksonville, Houston, or Tennessee (although TEN or HOU has to win this weekend - they play each other)

I too was skeptical towards the Jaguars at the beginning of the season, but I'm convinnced that the Garrard/Jones-Drew combo can propel their offense into victories.

Maybe a few more completed hail-mary passes, too. Giving up 27 points a game will get you a lot more L's than W's. The Texans and Jaguars have terrible defenses.

Whatever. I'm not a Jaguars fan, so I won't stress over their success or failure.

Yeah but that might be a bad thing, it's time for Del Rio to be fired and they aren't going to toss him if they win the division and makes the playoffs.

Jags are waaay too hot and cold. Manning will get it done for the Colts.
Who, the Colts that lost 2 division games and 3 conference games?

Are you kidding? The AFC South is the most highly contested division in the NFL.
It's highly contested when you have the Texans, Jaguars, and Titans in your division? I think the Colts only tough competitor is the Jags.

The Texans and the Titans are heading downhill.

I wouldn't dismiss the Titans yet: they're still in the running for the division and they replaced their erratic QB. Plus, they have an easy division match against the once-venerated Texans, who have lost their 4 games.

Well, the Jags lost by 4 because Garrard@co. collapsed in the last drive. However, if the Colts lose today too, then the Jaguars will be atop the AFC South again.

Looks like the Texans are still in the hunt for the AFC South title, now that they have a 20-0 victory over the Titans.

Well.... If the Colts somehow win this division Peyton can thank Eli and the Giants for beating the Jags today.

I'm also examining both the Colts/Jags schedule and the Colts have 3 division games left(2 vs Titans and 1 against Jacksonville) and the Jags have 3 division games left too(vs Titans, Houston and Indy) and considering the Colts are 1-2 in the division and the Jags are 2-1, it's going to come down to more than just the game between Jags and Colts.
