I was skeptical about them at the beginning of the season but their last couple of games have really convinced me that they will win the division they currently lead in, the AFC South. Garrard and Maurice Jones-Drew are especially impressive. What do you think?

As stated in the "If the season ended today thread", a fluke hailmary and a come from behind win against cleveland have not proved anything to me. There are still 6 games to be played and Peyton Manning is still in the NFL.

I'd love to see the Jags win it but the Colts probably will.

There's no rule saying the Colts have to

No but I'd say it's more likely the Colts take the division. We'll see.

Exactly. Jack Del Rio may have gotten this team to a point where they are contending for the playoffs but he still needs to be fired after this season regardless they win the division or become the 6th seed. They also need a new GM who can draft better(seriously not only do they take someone who they could have traded all the way to the second round to get but they draft the very same position the next pick!) and get them a team who can contend for the playoffs.

Still waiting to see if they move to LA and become the LA Jaguars.

Yeah I would like to see the Jags take it as well since that would actually give us a full relief regular season and playoff wise of no Peyton Manning. We play the Colts next season, and that is when I would like to see them again, not in the playoffs this year but next regular season.

Both the Colts and the Jags have moderately difficult schedules for the last six games:

Colts: San Diego, Dallas, @ Tenn, Jags, @ Oakland, Tenn

Jags: @NY Giants, @ Tenn, Oakland, @ Indy, Washington, @ Hou

Jacksonville won the first head-to-head, 31-28. Just like in our division, I think it will come down to the winner of the 2nd head-to-head. If the Jags win, I think they're in. If the Colts win, I think they take the South.

And... the head-to-head is in Indy, and Peyton will be playing... so I'll pick the Colts.

Indy will still win the South the Jags are playing over their heads right now and much like they did last year in December when they were in playoff contention they will fall apart and it will start this week in New York when the Giants beat them...

Jac@NYG Giants lose due to penalties & Manning INT
Jac@Ten Ten's O-line is in disarray; costs them this division match
Oak@Jac Oakland's domination streak ended with the Steelers game, Jac wins
Jac@Ind Close match; Ind will lose if their O-line, particularly Peyton, don't bring their A-game
Was@Jac Washington doesn't have the consistency to win.
Jac@Hou Houston will bomb in this division game

Call me crazy, but I think the only game the Jaguars have a good chance of losing is the one in Indianapolis.

You're CRAZY! :P

Seriously, it may be that the Jags have turned the proverbial "corner", having beat the Browns, Texans and Cowboys (Wade Phillips led, of course) in consecutive weeks - also, MJD has 100 yds in these three games.

This makes the Jags look like favorites.

However... In prior weeks, they lost:

By 22 to Kansas City
By 27 to Tennesee - at home
By 25 to Philadelphia - at home
By 25 to San Diego

They were blown out by four (good) teams... indicating that, if they're on, great. If they're off... they're awful.

As your post indicated, they have to play some pretty good teams - including the Colts and the Giants.

The remaining teams can beat anyone, on a given day:

Oakland - Who beat San Diego and KC
Houston - Who beat Indy, KC, Washington and Oakland
Washington - Who beat GB, Dallas, Chicago, and Philly
Tennessee - Who beat Philly, NYG, Oakland - and the Jags

I would LOVE for the Jags to take the South... but, I don't see it.

Well, the Giants and SD had crappy starts too. And Tennessee has been doing poorly lately too. Their only serious division opponent is the Colts, who have been struggling this season.

jacksonville needs a big threat receiver and a new quarterback they need a new everything like the browns
That explains why they lead the division right now.

Due to a hailmary TD and a come from behind win against Cleveland.....Indy takes the division.

It does when there are 6 games left to play......winning like that dries up and I don't think Jacksonville can keep it up; just an opinion.

I really see no reason to argue with their win over the Browns. It was a hard fought, come from behind effort. Simple as that.

I'm not making a prediction on how this thing turns out
I would prefer the Jags to win because I would like a break from Peyton Manning in the playoffs and it would be nice to see Indy miss the playoffs completely and it would be different.

Though I also wouldn't mind the combination of Colts/Jaguars making the playoffs if it meant the non-division winner knocked out Pittsburgh or The Jets out of the playoffs.

Im not arguing bro, just stating my opinion that I feel the proper rotation of the earth will settle in and the Colts will take the divison once again.

No but it sounded as though you were discrediting the Jags for having to sneak one out against Cleveland.

That was just a part of my reasoning for me not believing they can win the division. I just don't see it happen.

I know. But I was just trying to say that I don't think it's a good reason to discount them.

The Jets (9-2) have been thriving on last-minute wins, as has been evidenced in their last 5 games.

Colts will win. That division is weak.
Are you kidding? The AFC South is the most highly contested division in the NFL.
