Well, I guess it's a good thing the Bills claimed him.

Looks like he can be had for cheap next year, it'll be interesting to see where he'll go, since he'll get his pick. And to see if he can stay healthy.

If he becomes a free agent in the offseason, there's a very good chance he'll only get signed for the veteran minimum by any team that picks him up. His injury history and declining production has significantly hurt his value. He could be worth a look in training camp and cut before the season if he doesn't work out. Low-risk, moderate-reward.

Yeah, prime candidate for Ozzies "right player, right price" philosophy ...we'll see. I, for one, would be all for it, assuming vet min is the price tag,

I remember people were complaining about the Walt Harris and Travis Fisher signings, but really, those moves turned out to be relatively inexpensive and the team didn't make any long-term commitment to them, as evidenced by their respective releases prior to the start of the season. It's always right player, right price.

He probably could be had for the vet minimum. I would be all for brining him here in the off-season. If he doesn't pan out, we could simply release him.

If Kindle cant play regularly next season, and we pay Merriman the vet minimum, then maybe we should consider bringing him in for a look. Even then, not a big fan, I'd rather wait to see who else is available.

Not surprising at all. I would have been concerned about signing him after he was released while on injured reserve anyways. "Minor" injury or not, Merriman has a huge issue with any injury. Merriman is never going to amount to much again on the field if he can't shake his injury bug. Eventually no team is going to want to bother if he continues to miss the majority of every season with an injury.

Still not convinced this is an actual injury. Guess we'll never really know. So, if he never plays for the Bills are they still stuck with paying the man? Or are the Chargers still on the hook for that?

Surprise, surprise.... Merriman's officially been placed on IR for the second time this season. I bet the Bills are happy they picked him up off waivers.

Even though it's a second trip to IR this season, I would still be all for giving him the vet minimum contract next offseason, even if it is just to work him out a couple of times to see whether he would be worthwhile keeping. If Kindle doesn't heal up well (fingers crossed that he does) then our OLB depth is thin. (An issue I think will be addressed either in free agency or the draft.)

Like you stated, at vet minimum, I'd be all for it as well.

It's getting to the point where I don't even know if I'd be willing to even pay him the minimum.

I'm feeling the same way. With the draft and if Kindle fully recovers, the team shouldn't need Merriman next season.

Ya its useless to pick him up, Kindle will be just as healthy as Merriman will be next year anyway and we're going to address the pass rush with at least 2 other picks.

If Kindle doesn't return and we bring in Merriman, our depth is still thin. I seriously doubt he's much of an asset to us. He's washed up. And that's assuming he could even stay healthy. I'm so glad that our FO weren't able to follow up on their threat of bringing Merriman here. I hated him then, still hate him now.
