84Yd Kickoff Return

Im all for David Reed being the kick returner from now on. Its about time someone broke a big return, had Gooden not been in his way he may of scored. I hope the return game will continue to make plays although I still think we're not getting much production from the punt return game.

you cant get much out of the punt return game when you have no time to make plays. we did the smart thing an didnt turn over the ball on the punt returns.

You could tell after last week, that Reed had the potential moreso than anyone, to break a return wide open. And that he did, feel bad for him not getting the TD tho, and NOT getting a TD out of it from our offense.

Side note: When the Panthers responded with their kick return I was kind of irked in hearing the commentators say that our special teams coverage team is not very good...anyone else catch that?

I didn't but the coverage units have had their struggles this season. The big return they surrendered to Bernard Scott late in the Bengals game was a back-breaker.

I caught that, they said it immediately after he had that 60 yard return they mentioned our coverage teams aren`t good, I let out a laugh when I heard that.

Yeah I was surprised to see nobody talking about this, D. Reed did a great job and probably solidified his place (despite the fact that all we ended up with was a FG). My question is why not have him return punts too? I still don't know how I feel about Webb after the fumble in Atlanta.

He's just a fluid runner, very smooth in his strides. Picturing Webbs KR and Reeds KR Reed looks like a better runner in general.

For the record, I also really liked McCann when we plucked him off the Cowboys practice squad. Then we promptly released him again and he's now had a 100 yard interception return and a 100 yard punt return in the last 2 weeks. Just saying.

We need to get Reed more involved in the offense. Why not use him and Stallworth in a "speed package" with Boldin underneath, would be deadly!

I noticed that too. The interception was a little bit lucky, but the punt return was just a great heads up play. I guess we chose Prince Miller over him, we'll see how that goes. Can't win 'em all.
