Ray had an INT return for a TD in 2007. It was the Browns game that the Ravens thought they won at the end of regulation but ended up losing in OT.

He had a TD in the 2000 playoffs, 1 in 2003 vs the 49ers, 2007 vs the Browns, and today.

He also had a fumble return for a TD on a lateral from Ty Law in the 2002 Pro Bowl (after the 2001 season).

Ray Lewis becomes the SECOND player in NFL history to enter the 30/30 club (30 interceptions, 30 sacks). He now joins Rodney Harrison as the only two players to ever accomplish this feat.

GO RL!!!!

And it is much easier in my opinion to be a blitzing safety. A guy at middle linebacker is not in position to blitz often or make picks. So a guy that has 30 at both as an inside linebacker has to be a true playmaker to accomplish that. And a playmaker he is.

I just checked and Ray has also set the record for most seasons with at least 2 sacks/2 int (since 1982 when sacks were officially recorded). Ray has 8 seasons with 2 sacks/2 int.

Ronde Barber also became the only player in history to have 40 INT's and 25 sacks over a career today.

That's pretty amazing for a CB.

Lets not forget Lewis' INT TD, only the 2nd defensive TD of the season for the Ravens. Let's go :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

That's what this whole topic is about

Yeah, someone should seriously start an entire thread about it to ensure no one forgets..... ;)

Seeing Reed with the scoring lateral, followed up by the Lewis pick was a beautiful moment.
A relic of the past of what we were used to seeing in Baltimore.
It was such a great moment for Baltimore I got a bit sentimental and sad for a second, because for those moments, and those two players, it truly felt like I was watching a Raven's defense again.
Those two are irreplaceable.

Perhaps I just didn't see it all, but it ticked me off that there was no mention of this milestone when they did the Ravens' game highlights.

Congrats Ray! Lost a step??? Don't think so.

the thing that trips me out is he's an LB, thats awesome! DB's careers are shorter on average though if im not mistaken, but still for an ILB to acquire so many int's is AWESOME, may never be done again

Definitely. How many times can you say that you witnessed back-to-back pick sixes by 2 future Hall of Famers? Awesome moment indeed.

That pick was insane...knew exactly where the hot read was on the blitz.

That's film study, baby. What a beast.
I called both, but not the lateral to dawan.....jks ;) but I knew reed was going to get an INT. 2 more picks and he's tied for most INT's in the NFL, and he's played less than half the games of the current leader (Deangelo hall with 6 INT's) what a monster reed is, he truly looks as young as he claims to be (25)

That's a football moment I'll never forget, especially under the context of our defense playing poorly recently, and our aging stars letting us know they are still here and reminding us what the Ravens defense means.

According to the Buccaneers' official site, in their insider video for the day they said that following his 40th interception of his career on Sunday, yesterday the Pro Football Hall of Fame asked for Ronde Barber's jersey and gloves from Sunday's game. Later that day Coach Morris said he hopes the next time the Hall calls Barber it will be to ask for his jacket size.

Did the Hall ask for anything from Ray Lewis yesterday?

It would be only fair, both are headed to the Hall in a few years and both achievements are roughly comparable.

Yes! Johnny U is for the Colts what Ray-Ray is for the Ravens. But they both represent Baltimore.
As much respect as I have for Johnny U...this is the Ravens stadium. ;)

retiring 52 would be bitter sweet for me. I would miss seeing it on game days, it always gives me a sense of comfort when I see 52 run out of the tunnel on game day. However I wouldn't want the memories I have of the number 52 tarnished by some incredible"replacement" linebacker, that despite being incredible means only 1/2 of what ray meant to this team.

52 will be sorely missed, but never forgotten!

jeez I feel like I'm talking about our war heroes from WWI/II on remembrance day....but that just goes to show how much he meant to me, and us as fans.

Its a shame the person who started the 30/30 was that dirty player Rodney Harrison lol
Yes, it's interesting how that worked out. I'm guessing there are a probably some people saying some unpleasant things about Ray being the second.
