That was one game. I think he means so far for the season, which is a valid question.

Remove the Browns game from our statistics and it looks pretty powerful, too. That argument works both ways.

For sure, that is a good point. I have to say though that on more than one occasion, I was saying to myself "What the heck is happening here?" I think it is blown out of proportion for the most part.

Indeed, what a sad game :( seeing our DL manhandled by the historically terrible Browns was enough to raise my blood pressure. The Browns are strong this year but, still, we were awful.

Still, you can't remove games from your past, that's not how the NFL works. We just have to move ahead. Find the problem, fix it, and execute.

Has anyone notice Landry slipping a couple of notches in run support like I have? To me, his game has slipped a bit overall. And, if your game has slipped the Ravens' staff drafts someone at your position, even though it might not be in the 1st or 2nd rounds.

That's because Ole POPS has him dropping back in coverage.

Landry was never really that good in coverage but he looks a half step slower this season.

So what should Mattison do with a strong safety? And is it his fault Landry misses tackles often too?

Well dang with these tackle stats he has already this year wow he would be a REAL BEAST if he made every one.

#2 on the team with tackles.
#18 in the AFC.
#35 in the NFL.

Its because he has to drop him into coverage because not a single corner on our team can cover a guy without help over the top.

You could play him closer to the LOS which would take away a lot of angles away, when he's closer to the LOS he doesn't have any extreme angles when he goes for tackles, we all know how great of an open field tackler he is.

So wait, because he's racked up a good number of tackles, it means he hasn't missed a whole bunc either? Please...

Then the CBs would have even less help and the team would give up more big plays.

For sure, but I don't think there isn't a reason not to do it on most if not all 1st downs. 1st downs just leave Reed back to patrol center field.

Teams throw on first down much more often now though.

With the way teams are attacking the CBs the Ravens need to have two safeties deep. Heck When Zbikowski was playing FS they had him sooo far off the ball to help over the top.

LOL I never attacked you. Bringing up the tackles he has made and where they are relative to the team, conference or league doesn't address the tackles he's missed.

Not too sure how you can dismiss someone but I'll leave that alone.

On first downs I would play Landry closer to the LOS probably 75% of the time, 2nd and 3rd downs would be a bad move though more likely than not.

No offense but Marvin Lewis used to sub in and out with the Dline routinely as well. The Titans constantly sub guys in and out in an effort to remain fresh.
Is this Marvin Lewis' defense? Does Mattison have the best defense of all time? No. He has to put the best players on the field.

I don't know what games you've been watching but Cody's snaps have been increasing for three games straight.

Pryce WAS a phenomenal player. Not that Redding or Kruger have stood out but Pryce has done nothing this season. Zilch, squat, bupkis, nada. His noticeable decline began last year when Edwards was taking snaps from him and it was obvious he was washed up this season.

Put aside your beef with the coaching staff and recognize the moves they've made for what they are.
You say Pryce WAS, yet he lead this franchise in sacks last year coming off the bench. Mattison is agist, Pryce was not put on the field this year. He didn't get the numbers because he didn't get put on the field, at least last year he started some games.

I am sure that you are a much better judge of talent than our defensive coordinator.

So, is Rex Ryan an "agist" too? Because Pryce has yet to do ANYTHING this season.

A player having a relatively productive season one season doesn't mean he can't be washed up the next. And really, if Suggs hadn't decided to show up to camp overweight and then got hurt, would Pryce have led the team in sacks? Probably not...

I understand your reasoning, and kinda/sorta agree; but I just don't think Landry could handle the dual duties that come with creeping up on the LOS, unless it is an obvious running situation.

Ellerbe first off gets way too many penalties for STUPID reasons. That is why I don't like him that much.
Yeah, not a fan of Ellerbe.

The only thing that hasn't been tried yet is using Ayanbadejo at the Will position. He performed fairly well there before his injuries, especially in coverage. I don't feel Ellerbe or McClain are setting the world on fire there. Just a thought!

Whenever I see replays of big running plays against us all I see is most (obviously not Ngata) of our D-line being pushed around. This didn't happen to Cody, the reason that we drafted the guy. I think increased snaps for him would go a long way to solidifying our defensive front again. However, I still think that we need to draft a DE and an all-round solid OLB reasonably high in the draft, that would be sufficient youth injected again.

He isnt getting put on the field in New York either much...so does that mean that Rex and Mattison see the same things?
