I realize that, but he's still a force, and can easily torch our current DBs... the key will be pressuring the QB so he doesn't even have time to get him the ball.
Agreed. Hopefully, Suggs comes out ready to abuse their tackles.

Yes, pleeease....just once, it would be nice to have a "laugher" of a game in which the only time it's even close is at the start of the game. I don't want a heart attack in my mid-twenties haha. That being said though, the Panthers have some talented players on both sides of the ball and even if we don't take them lightly, they could end up making some plays. I think as long as we can keep Williams and Stewart in check like we did to Turner on Thurs. night, then we'll be alright and should win by at least a couple touchdowns.
Agrred with what's been said here... it would be terrific to get a big lead and be able to not stress about most of the game, but our Ravens love to make us sweat it.

They said here on the news and I know it's been reported by the media in the NFL but Jimmy Clausen has a concussion and that it is likely that the Panthers will turn to another rookie QB, Tony Pike to start against us.

That's what I heard too. Clausen was diagnosed with a concussion. And I doubt the Panthers rush back their "future" hopeful in a game that doesn't mean much for them.

Same. After Thursday's game, I'm fairly confident the Ravens will be able to clamp down their running game so it'll come down to stopping Pike.

Are Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams going to play for the panthers this week?
Williams might but I don't know if Stewart will be cleared after suffering a concussion two Sundays ago.

Wouldn't you as a Panther fan prefer to see what Tony Pike can do over Clausen at this point? He was a prolific passer in college. Could turn out to be a late round gem like Tom Brady.

YES... I've been saying since training camp - get Pike in before Clausen...and put Pike in before putting Moore back in. I've even said that they should give Armanti Edwards a shot - at least in the Wild Cat. Edwards was a QB in college.

Carolina kept Pike over Hunter Cantwell because of his similiarities to Delhomme. Although Jake's performance went downhill, fast. He was a very good quarterback in his time. I will be thrilled to see Pike in the game Sunday.

Looks like DeAngelo Williams won't be facing us

http://twitter.com/adam_schefter

Panthers strongly considering placing RB DeAngelo Williams on IR, as early as today. Strained arch might be too much to overcome this year.

That's great news for us... too bad for Williams. He's an excellent player.

Thanks for the kind words regarding Williams. I agree,he is an excellent player and has been missed by this Panther's fan. Its not often I find a Ravens fan that doesn't get off on slamming the other team.

As I stated in my post in "Clausen Suffers Concussion" blog - Congrats to the Ravens on Sunday's win... its inevitable.

I never wish harm upon any player (even Hines Ward), because those injuries go beyond football. I'm sure you'll agree that it's OK to be "happy" that a player won't be in a certain game, especially a player as dynamic as Williams, but that's where it ends for me.

Don't wave the white flag just yet. We thought the same thing about Buffalo (and that was at home!)

I don't think Ravens fans 'get off' on slamming other teams. I've gone over to several other teams message boards' to chat football, not to gloat. Anyways, nothing is inevitable but if Williams is out then things are looking grim.

I apologize for the generalization... the Ravens fans I deal with "get off" on slamming other teams - hear it every week - they all of a sudden become experts on the opposing team... maybe I should hang out with other fans.

And, I'm not sure if you're saying I am "gloating" - let me assure you - I am not. I enjoy talking football like the rest of ya'll.

Pike is no Hof QB if that is what you are trying to say?

I would be an idiot to try and say Pike is a HOF QB after only 12 NFL throws.

Nah, not saying that... (I mean, let's be honest we both know Panthers fans don't have much to gloat about anyways) just stating that not all Ravens fans are like that. ^_^

Nothing to gloat about this year, anyway...

Although I did see some interesting facts regarding prior Ravens/Panthers match-ups on Baltimore Sun - Ravens Insider.... I never realized Raven's have never beaten the Panthers in Regular Season(still not gloating) ;) - I was just shocked. Of course, there's a first time for everything.

Early scouting report on Panthers (from Nov 16, 2010)
SUNDAY’S GAME: Ravens at Panthers, Bank of America Stadium, 1 p.m.

THE SERIES: The Panthers beat the Ravens in their only regular-season visit to Baltimore, 23-21, in 2006, and swept two previous games in Carolina. That means the Ravens have never beaten the Panthers when it counts, although they have won four of five preseason games.

No predictions for a defensive TD? Too bad, cuz I'm callin it! We will have our first defensive TD this weekend against the Panthers!

The drought will finally end.

Yeah, I believe the Panthers are the last team in the NFL who the Ravens have not yet beaten. :)

You have any fan insights on when J-Stew will be able to play? Has he been ruled out for the Ravens game?
Just heard D-Will went to IR.

This question was discussed a bit on 1057 last night but if Tony Pike and Mike Goodson end up starting Carolina's backfield, how many points would the Panthers have to score for us to start panicking about this defense?

Anything over 10 barring turnovers by our own offense that puts the defense on a short field or already in scoring position.
