I had a high expectation going into this season with all the off season acquisitions, and all the hype. Now we are getting into the later part of the regular season. Our team hasn't made a significant advancement against any team. To me, it seems like we are headed to an 8-8 mediocre year.
Are we overrated or not?

No.....we've beaten the Jets and Steelers both in their house, as well as whooped up on the Dolphins. We gave the Pats game to them and narrowly came back on the Falcons in their house/dome.

We were never overrated, everyone always knew teams would be able to pass on us. We still haven't played up to our potential, not even close. 8-8? So we're going to go 2-5 in our remaining games? I find that unlikely.

No one is happy with our secondary; the Foxworth injury was pretty devastating. But they have to keep moving forward, confidently. We can win shoot outs.

I wouldn't say the whole team is overrated, but the defense is definitely overrated. We might not look bad in pass defense in terms of stats, but anyone whose been watching this team from the beginning of the season knows that isn't the case.

Our run defense usually makes up for the average pass defense, but this year even that isn't as good as it used to be. Sure we stopped Turner, but thats one game. More times than not, we haven't been too hard to run on.

Everyone knows the story behind our pass-rush, so I wont get into that.

During the pre-game I remember Billick saying we are a hard team to play against. Especially on a short week because the defense is so complicated.
Well that isn't the case anymore either. I think Billick is referring to the old defense because there is nothing complicated about this defense. Sure we lack the pass-rushers, but getting creative can help you disguise that. I have been a Mattison supporter, but he needs to add some wrinkles to this defense. Something to throw off an offense.

Dude, they won the game! And they're 6-3. So how can you say they haven't made a "significant advancement against any team" when they have one of the better records in the league.

Instead of just spouting useless rhetoric because you're frustrated, how about looking at where the Ravens are in comparison to the league?

The Ravens are 6-3 and right in the thick of things int he AFC. This is why I hate preseason predictions. Way to many people on here claiming we would have 14-2 seasons and things. Temper your expectations and let this guys play. This group of guys hasn't ever shown they are elite, so why expect it from them? What we are is a very solid NFL team, who can make it to the playoffs, and who can still win a superbowl.

We are not over rated in anyway, 6-3 is pretty damn good. Now if you wanna talk over rated, how about the Jets that were handed a playoff spot last year and are now considered "Super Bowl Material"... yeah that is over rated. Also we beat the Jets in their own stadium, they also got shut out by the Packers in their own stadium.

Don't worry about the Ravens, they are 6-3 going in against a weak Carolina team, a ok Bucs team and a shaky Saints team. I say we could probably end up 9-4(depending on the Saints game) before we play the Steelers.

I wouldn't say we're overrated. We've survived the toughest schedule to this point and still have one of the better records in the league. We all knew our secondary would be piss poor and our pass rush needed a boost, so what is there to overrate? I think we can still be a 13-3 or 12-4 team, but that doesn't mean I'm setting expectations high for them...it's just the way I'm programmed to root for my team.

Besides, if the Patriots can bounce back Sunday night, we'll still be atop the AFC North.

Perhaps your question should be were [i]your[/i] expectations too high and unreasonable. Obviously YOU overrated them, and were foolish enough to buy into the media hype. Now you seem to be unrealistically swinging in the other direction and underrating them. Personally, I will be surprised if they do not go at least 12-4. There is no reason that we cannot do so. Will 12-4 be enough to make the playoffs? That I don't know. The Steelers look almost too good to be beaten in the schedule they have left.

Oh yes. Point out the Ravens victory, where the Offense came back to score 24 unanswered points. With all of our losses having a 5 point margin or less, we're practically abysmal at 6-3. Let me root for a real winning team with high Offseason expectations. The only question is, where can I buy a Cowboys jersey?

We have too many mediocre at best linebackers. We need to either teach them better to play in the 3-4 scheme, or get rid of them and find some impact players.
Gooden, I thought he would be good enough to take over for Ray one day - not! Is JJ playing in the best position for him? Seems like when we flushed Trevor for whatever reason he now plays there and gets held on every play, or doesn't have the moves to get to the QB. Ellerbe still looks like he is trying to learn how to play LB and is either getting a flag or blowing coverage, I like McClain, I just wonder if we are playing these LB's in the right spots or responsibilities.

The Steelers and Saints should be our only tough matches left. We should be able to beat the shaky Saints. The Steelers game could go either way, but we have home field advantage. We could easily be 13-3!

Wow......winning out the rest of the way through? I had originally said (off season) we'd be 12-4 (still have fingers crossed), but have really zeroed in on 11-5 now.

although the Ravens are 6-3, to me....they haven't put on a consistent dominating offensive or defensive performance this season.

now, i know most of you cats here will stick your heads in the sand even after watching the Ravens performance on thursday night...but...the Falcons truly exposed the Ravens. they have given the Ravens next opponents some solid game footage on how to beat'em:

-Flacco nor the O-line can handle the 4-3 pressure
-No-huddle tires out the Ravens D-line
-Ravens Wide Receivers can't get any seperation from the DBs
-Ravens DBs man coverage is atrocious
-Ravens defensive front barely gets QB pressure

Which of our upcoming opponents do you think can beat us other than the Steelers? I think we-ll be either 12-4 or 13-3!

i put no because the networks espn ,showtime, nfl network dont give us any love anyways.

they much rather talk about the cowboys or vikings than the ravens mind you they dont even have a chance to make it to the playoffs.

We've not really dominated anyone fully on all 3 sides of the ball this year, so any game is a toss up. Saints, Steelers, Cincy (always have our number), Cleveland of late etc.....
