Defeat Is A Better Teacher Than Victory

21 posts in this topic

I thought the game with the Patriots a few weeks back taught our guys about defeat and how to come back even better.

However, I think the defeat in Atlanta just humbled us even further.

Players, coaches, and fans all feel the agony and anger of losing this game, but I can tell you that victory is going to be much more appreciated, since now we all tasted defeat.

Good thing, we got a long week to ponder in frustration, so we can put it all out on Carolina and the remaining schedules.

I hope from here on out, we bring hell and show why we are a mean and physical team.

I kind of agree with this. Its never good record wise to lose a game, but we were getting a ton of national attention as potentially the best team in the league. This might humble us a little bit, and it is going to give the secondary a ton of film to watch and get better. Also, this was the secondary's first game with josh wilson as a starter, so maybe that plays into how poorly they played.

Theres 7 games left, we have Carolina in a little over a week to get back on track. Alot of football left

Loss is good depending on the individual. Some people crawl into a hole, while others embrace it and learn. Having a game against Carolina isn't exactly the best test, but any team can be a threat, and I'm looking forward to it.

"Defeat Is A Better Teacher Than Victory"

I think any NFL coach worth his salt would tell you that it's better to work on what is needed having won, than lost.

Of course. But a loss give the coaches an opportunity to hammer their players on what they're doing wrong.

It's a slap in the face all on its own. I'll agree to that. And sometimes that is what's needed, but coaches should be hammering on weaknesses after victory too.

on a good note we held Turner to around 30 yards rushing which is fairly incredible.

True I was glad to see our Rushing D come out

Terrance Cody at NT was the reason why.

I wonder if he'll dominate the Panthers inside two Sundays from now like he did in pre-season.

I really think he will, as long as Mattison uses him at NT he doesnt have to worry about positional stuff because he knows how to play the position. He just needs to work on consistency.

I hope your OC don't abandon the run so early like he did against my Falcon's. The way you guys where able to run against us was shocking to me. If your OC would have kept going that route I really think the outcome would have been much different. If anything I hope your team learns that from this lost.
I hope your team does great the rest of this year and hopefully we can meet one more time this year.

Thanks and you're 100% correct! We ripped off a few good runs right out the gate and then we stopped! Weird..... Either way, good win!

Why should they hand it to Turner? EVERYTIME Ryan took the snap and looked up, all his receivers were open. If Ryan had been more accurate the Falcons would have ripped a new hole in our you know whats.

i can't see why he won't, he might make it a very long day for their RBs. then you've got to add in the fact that the rest of the defense will be out to re-deem themselves after "letting the falcons off the hook" could be fun to watch the defense next sunday

Teach your player how to win but do not show them how to lose! No matter if you win or lose there is always something that can be done better!

I doubt it, these problems have been evident all season. If they wanted to correct anything it would have been done weeks ago. Odds are they thought the current personnel could get it done but when it didn't happen it was already to late to do anything about it.
