Steelers V Pats

There's no word on who the Steelers might bring in yet, but the best available guys would include Steven Hauschka, Piotr Czech, Shaun Suisham and Matt Stover.

If The Great Rod Woodson can wear ....*gulp* ...purple, then a KICKER can upgrade his legacy and don the Black and Gold. :P

As I said, it happens in every stadium in the league.

I'm all for supporting the team, but it's the fans only recourse for showing their disappointment when the team is stinking up the place. If you think it goes unnoticed by the team, think again.
I still find it unbelievable. The game isn't even close to over, and fans are just walking out? The team isn't going to notice and start trying harder in future games, the Steelers are always competing.

I'm not saying it never happens in other stadiums, but usually the game is more out of hand than that. A 13 point deficit is far from insurmountable.

A lot of people had seen enough after Reed missed that 26 yard FG and the Pats drove down 90 yards in about 5 plays and scored to go up 20 points immediately after that miss. The way the Pats were moving the ball last night even though the Steelers did fight back a little bit it was never going to be enough to overcome the hole huge hole they dug themselves into...Me personally, I cant speak for other fans but I always stay until the end because you never know what can happen. But I can understand some fans leaving early once the Pats got up 20 points being it was a late night game and people had to work in the morning...

I believe we were down by 20 at that point; doing nothing on offense; and it was the 3/4 over. I still had faith, but I'm not going to judge those who left.

He's inconsistent, leave Matty Stover alone!
hahaha. Can't make any promises, but if you post pictures of you burning that #26 Ravens Jersey, I'll call Tomlin and see what I can do. Deal? ;)

I'd also like to remind you (as I am reminded constantly by the local Giants fans) that Matt Stover was a product first discovered by the G-Men. Although, those boneheads were too dumb to keep him......like Ed McCaffery and David Patton.

Its amazing that BOTH the Ravens and Steelers have what it takes to "easily" beat the knuckle-head Pats... Why we haven't is a matter of confidence and the play calling TO MATCH / COUNTER-ACT THEIR STYLE OF PLAY. Brady and the Pats now have a new "Post-Spygate" target on their backs. Hopefully we'll get another crack at em when it counts: the playoffs. But in my opinion, "Revenge is best served black and gold"...

Good luck with that one. Better hope you playoff hopes don't come down to a FG.

Why? He averages between 81% and 85% and he's kicked at Heinz Field before. It was with Reed where we began to worry.

That said, off season areas to address:

DL

Suisham is decent and has kicked in cold elements before and had a good workout today kicking at Heinz Field. Reed was a big reason the Steelers lost the Ravens game and missed big kicks at the end of both the Atlanta and Cincy games that could very well have costs the Steelers both those games had the defense not bailed them out of both of them. Suisham is over 80 percent and I believe at this point is an upgrade over Reed not just kicking wise but mentally as well...

In 2009, he was originally cut by the Redskins for missing a 23 yard game-tying kick against the Saints in addition to two missed kicks, two weeks earlier, against the Cowboys in a 6-7 loss..

Later that same year, he missed two kicks in that ugly Cowboys playoff loss to the Vikings and wasn't re-signed..

Point being, he's not every clutch.

Neither was Reed. Don't know the circumstances of those kicks (conditions, etc), but he still averages over 81% and Reed was at about 66-68% this year. For the moment, he's an upgrade and I welcome him.

BTW - Billy Cundiff's career average is 74.8.% His highest average in a single year is this year at around 82% so far. His highest in a complete year was 78.x%. Kickers are funny animals.

Indeed. A change of scenery could be good for Suisham, we know it was for Cundiff. Reed just needed to go.

I'm sure he's have misses, especially at Heinz. Is there a tougher place to kick? Maybe Candlestick?
