Steelers V Pats

124 posts in this topic

with the ravens already done for the week, this is probably the biggest game for us this week.

hopefully the browns can continue their suprise results against the jets. but who do you think/want to win this week?

i'm torn, we've already got the tiebreaker over the steelers and if we beat them in week 13 the division should be ours so a pats loss could open up the conference for us to be #1 seeds.

i'm predicting steelers in a close one either way its ok i geuss

Who do I think will win?

I picked Pittsburgh. Sunday night, nationwide TV in Heinz Field. It will be close, Brady will dink short slants all night long. The Pats won't run, and Brady's receiving core - other than Welker - is questionable, especially with Branch injured.

On the other hand, the Pats' D is 24th in points allowed and 29th in total yards and passing yards allowed. If they don't get pressure on Ben, he'll eat them alive.

It all comes down to whether the Steelers' hurting O Line is healthy enough to give Roethlisberger enough time.

My bet is, yes - and I pick the Steelers, 24-17.

Its all up to the Steeler play calling. Arians (O-Coordinator) and LeBeau (D-Coordinator) called a game of "not our teams strength's" style plays in the two losses we had. In addition, McFadden and Gay are weak cover guys and are the hole in our D. If we give Brady too much time he's simply gonna play our secondary like puppets. We have to get him "nervous" early on with pressure and sacks in the beginnings of the 1st, 3td and 4th qtrs. If we can get in Brady's head, its a rap. If not, it will be a close one... could go either way...

The want part is so easy, I shouldn't need to answer it.

How can you be torn? If the Steelers lose, Baltimore will be back in control of the division. The Pats can lose to some other team some other week, but I definetly want them to win on Sunday.

That said, New England doesn't stand a chance. Tom Brady is injured and that pass defense will make the Steelers look like they have a real offense. Plus this isn't the early 2000's Patriots. They are world beaters at home and not much else. (Basically they're the AFC's Falcons.)

Brady's injured? I did not know this.

I HOPE we can win this game. I think our o-line will actually be okay (despite injuries), but it's our pass coverage that concerns me. Aaron Smiths absence is making it more difficult to get quick pressure on the QB.

I would love for a Steelers loss(helps us), but they most likely will destroy the Patriots much like the Browns. If they use that power run game it will be over early.

He has a foot sprain, but he will play of course.

Pitt's pass d is pretty lousy, but so is NE's. Both teams will be able to pass, but only one will be able to run.

I don't think McFadden is that bad, but Gay is awful. I'd guess he could cover a TE or a slower RB - like a safety does - but he can't cover WRs. In the Cincy game, when the Bengals moved Owens to the slot and the Steelers covered him with Gay in the nickel, Owens owned him. I'm pretty sure Brady will notice this in the films this week.

Still, it won't be enough for the Pats...

The only thing I'm confident about is that it won't be them.

I think this will be a tough game. If the Patriots beat the Browns I would've picked the Steelers in this game. But this is a big game for the Patriots here.

Can't tell who will knock it through. But I could see this game going either way in the end.

I'm not making a prediction, but how is everyone already counting out the Pats? Not for nothing, they are 6-2, just like the Steelers.
Because this is a "what-have-you-done-lately" sport. Forget that the Pats last week were atop the AFC and #1 on everybody's power rankings. They lost to the Browns, they suck! No chance they bounce back ever.

Just like the Ravens were atop the AFC yesterday and atop everybody's power rankings. But now we can't even ever compete again.

Please realize that my entire post was sarcastic.

Steelers win. They can actually put pressure on a QB unlike the only AFC-N team as of late that cannot. Steelers win convincingly especially against the young CBs on the Pats

Too bad that isn't the Monday Night game. We'd all be cheering for the same team for once. ;-)

Steelers will take this game, Big Bill might make some adjustments to his rush D and coupled with the Steelers injuries on the line that might make some of a difference. But Brady cant push the ball downfield, and Polamalu will shut out the young TEs Brady targets for his longer completions.

Even if the Steelers do win Sunday against the Pats assuming both the Steelers and Ravens win their next 2 games with the Steelers playing Oakland and Buffalo, and the Ravens playing Carolina and Tampa Bay at the very worst the Ravens will be 8-3 and one game behind the Steelers at 9-2 with a chance to overtake the Steelers if the Ravens beat them in Baltimore. So regardless of what happens Sunday it still is going to come down to that Sunday night in 3 weeks in Baltimore anyway you slice it. So while the Steelers beating the Pats will not do the Ravens any favors it will by no means be devistating and kill the Ravens chances of still winning the AFC North...

I will be flat out stunned if New England wins this game. I'll be jumping for joy, but stunned.
I have to think a Patriots win will be stunning, Mod 3, and I believe it will be by ten points, 27-17.

That game is definitely the most important on our schedule.

Yeah....wow! Torn? You never, ever, ever want Pittsburgh to win! You worry about your division before even caring about the conference.
