I love it.

When Suggs is only sent in to rush 10-15 times a game because he is too good at other things to limit him as just a pass rusher, he is overrated and cant rush the QB.

When we use Suggs as a heat seeking missile and just let him go after the QB all game, he puts up one of the best pass rushing performances we have seen all year by anyone, and now we are ready to hold a parade. LOL

I know it won't happen, but I hope that last night will stop all the hating on Suggs' pass rushing skills. He is a beast, he is the most complete LB in the game, and there is NO ONE I would rather have. Not Ware. Not Harrison. No one.

Im a Suggs supporter as well just based on his play. Mattison should just keep blitzing the crap of him, he was devastating last night.

Wait...theres a parade im missing!

The both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall I'd say the are about equal.

But as of right now, I agree with you. We don't have a CB nearly the caliber of Taylor.

Ike Taylor is good but he is an up and down player IMO.

Harrison is pretty complete and just seems much stronger than Suggs. I still like Suggs however.

The difference there is Suggs' ability in coverage.

Which is mind blowing to say that. I don't know how long you've been a fan...were you around for Suggs' first couple years? Do you remember how terrible he was in coverage, and how people used to rag him for only being able to rush?
He has made a conscious effort over the years to improve that aspect of his game. And now, I don't think it is out of line to say that he is probably the best OLB in the league at coverage.

Suggs is amazing.

He is inconsistent but bigger and more physical than any Ravens CB.

You know, if Cody shows that he can play at a high level at DT consistently, I am all for it. My concern is how it would effect our run defense if we relieved Suggs of those duties and just reverteted him back to the Suggs of old; if Cody steps up, then maybe we should consider it.

Cody was lights out last night, Mattison finally started using him at NT. Cody had 5 total tackles last night and not one of them came further than 3 yards past the LOS. He was what we envisioned when we drafted him last night. He plays like that again next weekend and I think you start rotating Gregg with Redding on run downs against run heavy teams and only spell Cody when hes gassed.

I couldn't agree more. It was exciting to watch him control the middle, raw as he is.

There was one specific play where Cody did really well, they pulled a zone running play and I believe Cody was at NT, he stuck with the blockers the entire way and just ate them up, the middle of the D really did look clogged when he was playing.

Oh. I have a different solution for my next mock, but he is definitely a start.

Appreciate the feedback man.

It seems like its not as active as last year. Maybe its because its still too early I guess.

Yeah. Late in the year and once the season is over, the draft forum will be packed.

Yep. I'm not much of a college football fan. But when draft time comes around I'll do my homework, watch tape, read articles and join the draft forum.

I will be there as well after the season. I still remember my epic debate with Mod9 over Laurinaitis a couple years ago.

He's turned into a pretty good player. What side of the fence were you on regarding him?

If I recall correctly Mod9 didnt think Laurinaitis would become a playmaker because he showed to be a liability in pass coverage, and had difficulties shedding blocks in rush D. I was on the side that Laurinaitis was a good player and he had simply been scrutinized too much with his senior year. I didnt think he'd become a perennial pro bowler, but I thought he'd be like London Fletcher and become a tackle machine.

Yeah I saw him playing quite well last night. He's gotta do it a few more times for me to get excited, but he definitely took a step in the right direction last night, and honestly thats reason enough for me to put him in over Gregg and Redding starting this weekend.

Keeping my fingers crossed; maybe I'll start warming back up to this pick again

Not that it's saying a whole lot but to me, Cody has been the most impactful rookie behind Dickson with just his last two games.

If Suggs had played with that much effort his entire career they would be carving a bust for him right now in Canton.
[/quote]

I've never seen him play that well before, so maybe he will turn up the heat more because he knows what he can do. Either that or we'll have to get him facemasked on the first play of every game.

If Suggs plays like that all the time he'll be my favorite player in the league.

Really? He was a monster in '06 and '08 and collected two sacks in the AFC title game with one arm.
