There are not many people that i respect more than steve mcnair. he's probably the toughest quarterback to ever play in the nfl. and he wasnt just tough he was great. he really knew how to win football games. if i was in a super bowl and i needed a touchdown to win and i could pick anybody to be my quarterback i would pick steve mcnair. when you need him to make a play he delivers. like in super bowl XXXV against the rams when there was under a minute to go. the titans were down by a touchdown. steve hiked it. he was flushed out of the pocket he spun out of and broke a couple takles and then fired a strike downfield to set up the possible game winning (or tying) play. amazing. and if kevin dyson didnt cut in too soon on the last play mcnair might have gotten a super bowl ring. to make a long story short Mr. McNair was a great quarterback, i love and respect him, and he's a hall of famer in my book. and i sure will miss watching him play.

anyone who goes through this many injuries gets my respect! also he was one of the few QB's who didn't slide down when Ray Ray came his way, instead trying to run right through him! it's those kinds of intangibles that we may not see from a QB in a long, long time.

What about troy's first nfl touchdown? He plowed through two guys to get it!

This changes so much. At least in theory. I originally thought we shouldn't draft a QB at all, but definitely not in the first round. Now we only have two QB's and need a third for emergency purposes. I still say we shouldn't draft a QB in the first round, but now I wouldn't be opposed to taking one in a later round, preferably on Day 2. The one thing we can count on is that there will complete competition as there is no guaranteed starter, and probably won't be until the start of the season.

If all you wanted was an "emergency" third stringer...just pull up cullen finnerty. We did last season, no biggie. If we have a catastrauphic injury issue at qb next year then we should burn M&T and rebuild it ha jk. Yea but seriously drafting a qb will do nothing but eat money. If your not gonna pull cullen up for "emergencies" then get a vet who just wants a job opportunity. Pay them to sit on the bench and mentor do not pay them like a starter. I'm sick of hearing about the "qb draft class" this draft class is a J-O-K-E. Not a single one of them are even close to being worthy of a #8 pick. They want too much money and they'll all be useless for years to come and maybe just maybe one of them will have a legit career. How often is a top rated qb picked and stuck with? And see success? They get picked-they get overpaid-they get traded-maybe they get traded again-then BOOM 5 or 6 years later somtimes?! Umm Favre? Originally a Falcon? Oh yea he sucks get rid of him...riiiiiight...If we had cap room galore and a franchise to SH-- on then sure blow some money and several years on a joke draft prospect. Otherwise forget it. Troy will prevail.

the general public can say what they want and have their own oppinions on this and that about McNair's retirement.....but i think that the only one to have the most knowledge as to what the Ravens want are going to do in the upcoming draft, is that of Ozzie...who said that in no way shape or form, will this change anything as far as the draft is concerned.....now last time i checked.....ozzie knows his stuff and knows what he's doing so i think we should listen to him and not anything otherwise.

That's true, but Troy is too young to give him a label as a warrior. Only a rookie in the NFL, only time will tell whether he is really that type of player.

GL McNair. I hope we don't draft ryan in the upcoming years you have some really good Quarterbacks coming out. If kyle boller fails this year and troy fails nxt year you have Quarterbacks like Tim Tebow coming out that that almost anybdy would take over Matt Ryan. I believe we have solid Quarterbacks on our rosters but never gave them the right mix of talent except for the one year that McNair had the 13-3 season. He Kyle played he either was hurt, had no o-line, no recievers or he was in billicks offense which never seemed to have been innovated upon. When troy played this year his mobility allowed him to look good while he was playing but the entire team was decimated by injuries and he never had a chance to show what he could do with all of our healthy talent around him. This year Coach Harbaugh has put in place great offensive coaches that should allow the quaterback who is starting to display what they can truly do. We should see an night and day improvement in the offensive line, the recievers should be stronger and we know from what we've seen Cam do in San Diego that he will bring a potent offense and that he can develop talented quarterbacks.

Just a thought.....the ONLY way we can have a shot at Tebow is if we finish last in the NFL the year prior to his entering the draft and/or every team that finishes worse than we do has a pro-bowl/MVP franchise QB (Colts, Pats, Bengals, Seahawks, Steelers, etc). Even if this opportunity presents itself, to trade up to get him will cost any team attempting to do so dearly (quite possibly two 1st round draft picks and a later round pick or two). IF Tebow stays healthy, he will go top 3 in the draft. Only teams with absolutely entrenched franchise QB's will pass him up.

AND...I am making the call right now: Tim Tebow will not come out early. Ergo, Tim Tebow will not be in the NFL draft until 2010. Tim and his parents have worked too hard to cultivate his image to do anything other than graduate. He might even stay for a fifth year of eligibility if the right circumstanes present themselves. He and his family have money so the financial boost of becoming an NFL QB are not as alluring as one might think. Add to that the fact that with every NCAA snap Tebow takes, his legend grows. This leads me to think that he is more concerned with the long term growth of his career than immediate gratification gained by coming out early. And, oh, he will also gradute with honors.

The only way I can see Tebow coming out early is if Florida completely unravels, maybe a huge recruiting scandal or something of that nature. Even then, his image grows if stays on to graduate and "plays through adversity."
Thought without action is trivial.

Don't bring Flacco into this he has a worse prospect than Kyle Boller coming out of college. At least Boller played in a pro style offense.

Amen. Flacco reminds me alot of Jeff George without the attitude. I watched him play in a few college games and saw him compete in the QB Skillz Challenge. He has a HUGE arm but his accuracy leaves alot to be desired. He finished last in the accuracy portion (behind Ryan, Henne, Brohm, and Brenner). Even though he won the distance throw portion of the contest by a huge margin (72 yard throw vs. 59 yards by Ryan) he missed a twenty yard wide landing area in two of three attempts and that was with ideal throwing conditions i.e., no pass rush.
Thought without action is trivial.
