The Jenkins catch was a great catch and showed some awareness that even he probably doesn't even know he showed....what I mean by that, is the fact that he didn't try to switch from the finger tips to the entire hand. Had he done that, it would have been overturned 100%.

ellerbe gets to many penalties
I literally wanted to bash my screen in when he drew the defensive holding penalty on Gonzalez. Ellerbe literally grabbed him and just held on for like three seconds. It was good to see Hamlin telling him what he did wrong when he got to the sidelines.

too bad he doesn't listen. harbaugh got in his face again
He got in his face after the block in the back which was equally senseless. I just don't get it; if you don't see a player's number, why throw the block?

Ellerbee might have some potential, but hes also an idiot.
We're starting to see why teams passed on him despite the fact he's an early-to-mid round talent.

I wish we had a more promising ILB. Ray-Ray doesn't have many years left, and I'd much rather have him mentor someone who had a more certain future than any of these guys.

Phillips has promise to me as a Jack ILB.

With the way JJ and Gregg are playing do you guys think this is their last year in Baltimore if they continue to play like this until the end of the year?
Yes. Gregg has had his ups and downs, he has not been totally useless and is functional. Fo rwhat JJ is here to do, he has not been good this year really at all. Last year he stood out IMO, not so much this year.

I agree completely. One of the better catches I have seen this year TBH. I don't care what people say, that ball did not move in his fingertips.

You didn't see him in the pre-season? I thought he was strong against the run, hustled well and how some decent straight-line speed. He bit hard on play action against the Rams and gave up a TD a big play but I think he could be a solid player.

Didn't really get a chance to watch pre-season this year since I was out of the country.

Well I hope he can become a solid LB, because we don't have many right now.

Gregg would be fine as a back-up, I think.

J.J. has been dealing with back-spasms and injuries. Even though his play hasn't been up to par, at least he's out there.

We need more production out of Ellerbe/Gooden/McClain next to Ray.

McClain was credited with 3 tackles in the Atlanta game but all were scored incorrectly by the Falcons home scorekeeper. (All 3 should have been Ray's)

I think Gregg's decline and the lack of production from the Jack have been main factors in the decline Run D.

Cody at NT will bring us back, maybe not to where it once was, but itll definitely bring us back to top 5.

Bump McClain out to OLB and start Ellerbie? JJ needs to go, he's done NOTHING this year.
Ive wondered about that, but McClain hasnt practiced at OLB since 2008, and Harbaugh seems to have it out for Ellerbe, then Ellerbe committing 2 penalties himself against Atlanta doesnt help.

Yeah, he's in the doghouse but theres a bigger picture here, going into the playoffs with a completely ineffective OLB is kinda scary.

We seem unable to adjust, stagnant at the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. We show pressure, Matt Ryan adjusts in an obvious way, and we don't change anything! I had this perception that Ray Lewis QBed the defense, and he would counter the adjustments made by Manning or any other quarterback. What's the deal with our predictability?

McClain was most productive in 08 as an edge rusher, he caused big time havoc. I don't think he is suitable for MLB play. I'd agree with your proposition

Not that I'm saying this WILL work, but right now he's not doing anything and that needs to change.

A little off topic but a few months ago the Browns replaced ILB DQwell Jackson with 265lb OLB Chris Gocong, a former DE who struggled as a rusher/OLB with the Eagles but has found his niche on the inside. Maybe JJ needs to move inside as well?

Interior lineman are getting to the second level more than ever and with how he's struggled getting off blocks, I'm not sure that move would help J.J. Still, I don't think it would hurt to try.

Makes sense to kick JJ inside because it's not like he wouldn't be willing to play that type of ILB that Bart did, just hit the hole and smash the FB without letting him get anything positive. That's basically all he is doing right now but on the outside, which isn't the place for that.

Tough, gritty kid; lacks athleticism but a sure tackler, pretty smart player. He's a guy who doesn't have a very high ceiling, but, if he fills his potential, he can become a solid player for us.

At least Cody had a breakout game and is showing a lot of promise. This pic kinda says it all, not many DT's can take on RG Harvey Dahl in the run game let alone knock him to the ground.

Cody was an animal at the LOS against the Falcons, winning his matchup on every rush defensive snap he was in. I said it somewhere else but he had 5 total tackles, and by my count not one came past 3 yards from the LOS which is impressive for a NT, let alone a rookie playing on a defense that struggled to consistently shut down the run.
