Flacco Criticism Thread

Joe is missing quite a few reads. Sometimes I see games like this and he looks awful. He did come back strong in his defence, and I don't think Cam Cameron is helping by over passing a lot of the time, but I feel like he isn't seeing the open man fairly often.

To be fair, how often was he afforded time to scan the field prior to the fourth quarter?

Other than the two sacks by Suggs and when he turned it on in the 4th quarter, Ryan had all day to scan the field and usually didn't have to do that for long with the CBs playing scared.

There were many instances where the hot read was open and he missed him.

A mistake? I'm expressing an opninion which I believe is the purpose of these boards. I've noticed on this board that there are those who think Flacco has already achieved franchise status and should not be critsized and there are those who critisize him for every little mistake and want him replaced. Not too many in between. I simply pointed out a simple fact in response to another post -- interceptions do affect games and Flacco's was laid out there for the picking. This is a problem that has plagued Flacco since he started playing. This is a fundamental mistake he has to fix because it has cost games in the past and played a role last night. He's gotten better, but these mistakes, like all mistakes should be pointed out and dealt with. You prefer Flacco over Ryan for a lst minute drive -- that's yor preference. I said nothing about picking Ryan over Flacco. Maybe you should read and understand what someone is saying before responding.

You don't like the Flacco criticism posts? Don't read them. Start one for Webb or Suggs or Harbs or anyone of yoru choosing or a "I love Flacco" post.

By the way, it's "almost won", not one, and almost does not get you into the playoffs. This is not pop warner or HS football.

QBs make bad throws all the time. The best QBs throw interceptions, it's not a "fundamental flaw." Our offense didn't do anything for the entire first half, we spotted them 13 points. The fumble by Webb was bad too.

And then the refs spotted them 13 more with blown calls.

There is nothing wrong with criticism, but these threads bring out meanness in people

Amen.

The bottom line is Flacco played a fantastic 2 quarters of football when the team needed him to- but a NFL game is 4 quarters. Can we lay all the blame on Flacco? No. But it sure is easier to do, as we're seeing on BR.com.

The end result is we have a lot more glaring holes in the offense than a lot of us would like to realize. Whether or not it's the offensive line, receivers, play calling, Cam holding Flacco back, taking snaps in the shotgun or under center... or a combo of everything... there is an obvious issue.

The GOOD in all of this is we've come to realize that when under pressure we have a QB that can deliver and seal a victory on the offensive side of the game. Now, we (as an organization) need to figure out what our offense is doing differently when we're driving down the field and stick to that.

People need to slow down and look at the numbers:

15 tds, 7 ints, 2132 yards, 61% completion ratio, 90% qb rating.

He's projected to put up...

27 tds, 12 ints, 3790 yards

--

27 touchdowns and near 4,000 yards? That's ProBowl/AllPro numbers... yet people still complain.

We're 6-3, not 3-6. Last I checked this is the 3rd best start in Ravens history.

I still do believe that they don't trust Flacco for some reason. Why are the games so streaky? Both our offense and our defense seem unable to adjust at the line of scrimmage, which is surprising to me.

It seems to me like we know we have a great running game and can fall back on that, and we're trying to shape Flacco into a passer who can go head to head with the best in the league. But we need to be careful, lets not lose games and our identity, rushing him to be someone who he isn't ready or equipped to be yet.

But that's just the thing though. When the lines is mauling, I'm all for sticking with the running game but Cam literally takes the Ravens out of rhythm at times with his play-calling.

I haven't and will not read all 131 posts in this thread, but needed to express my disgust at even having a thread like this after the performance shown last night by our QB....wow!
