Remember, guys, calling someone's fanhood into question isn't needed. We all have our opinions of each other and of the players. Those opinions are fairly evident in how we address one another. No need in piling it on further.

That said...yeah, Joe is Joe. He won't be a robot like Peyton Manning and give you a boy scout answer every time. He also won't be Tom Brady and get flippant when his toughness is called into question. He lets things roll off his back and defends himself as needed. Every touchdown he throws, you can see that Joe is doing it to spite all of his critics. His spontaneous celebrations are a show of pride and passion that belies his calm demeanor -- and it's all intentional.

Joe Flacco won't ever be the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Drew Brees -- he'll just be the first Joe Flacco, and so far, that's been good enough for me. He wouldn't have it any other way.

He'll be starting again this weekend so if you want to know how he's doing, find a place with Sunday Ticket and watch!

I actually do wish I was getting that game. But, without Sunday Ticket, and unless you live in California or the St. Louis area, you won't be seeing it. Personally, I'd find it a lot more interesting than Giants/Cowboys <_<

No one is asking for that. Very, very few people on here were not either frustrated or critical of Flacco after his performance in week 2. He certainly deserved criticism. But there is a world of difference between that, and demanding he get benched because of a bad game, or bashing him every opportunity possible.

Maybe a little dose of homerism will be good for you. After all, isn't the point of being a fan supporting your team through thick and thin? Being a homer is a good thing, as long as you know when to put the purple pom poms down and face reality too.

One just needs to see my avatar and sig as to how I feel about Flacco. I've bought into him since game 2 in 2008.

The sky was falling after Ryan got off to a slow start too. People have unrealistic expectations of players. I thought it was perfectly reasonable for a young qb to start sluggish but some of my fellow fans was sure the season was already over. After all the injuries last year in our offense I fully expected Ryan to be out of rhythm. They never really gelled last year they got close but injuries kept popping up right when it looked like it was about to happen.

Maybe it is being a homer but Ryan and Flacco have already proven they can play at a very high level so unless there in an injury or some other factor there is no reason to believe they suddenly lost the ability. Players have bad days. I am sure both Ryan and Flacco will give their critics additional material as they continue to develop. It would be odd if they didn't.

So, while you're here, I have to ask...

Rewind to the 2008 season. A lot of people here (myself included) were annoyed that every time Flacco was talked about, Ryan would be mentioned too. It seemed as if Flacco were living in Ryan's shadow, despite sharing nothing in common other than being in the same draft class. Ryan was easily the most hyped college QB that year, so naturally, the media fed into it. Many of us felt as if Flacco were just an afterthought...something to talk about when they ran out of Ryan material.
Of course, since then, both guys have gone on and started establishing an identity of their own, and now we view it for what it is...two great young talents paving the way for the future of the league.

What is Atlanta's perception of the Flacco/Ryan "rivalry". Annoyance, indifference, exciting?

It doesn't come up enough to be annoying. The media is having a field day with it this week but it will be quiet again soon enough.

In 2008 it was a big deal. However, most people in my circle of friends are indifferent to it now. In the end, it doesn't matter which one is better. We have our guy and we are winning games. If there was some sort of rivalry between our two teams it might be different but there just isn't. You are one of the few teams that if you were making a sb run and we were out I would have no problem rooting for you to have success.

Of course, if you asked a vick troll Ryan is the worst quarterback to be drafted in the last 3 years. One of them actually said they would take Flacco, Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman, Bradford all over Ryan.
