Which Trade Is Better?

8 posts in this topic

My two starting QBs, Tony Romo and Matt Stafford, are most likely done for the year. I have Ryan Fitzpatrick and Shaun Hill, but I expect Fitzpatrick's numbers to decline somewhat in the tough winter conditions in Buffalo. I also need TE help. My two possible trade options are:

Trade: WR Randy Moss
Get: QB Joe Flacco

or

Trade: RB LeGarrette Blount
Get: QB Josh Freeman and TE Jason Witten

I also have RBs Rashard Mendenhall, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Fred Jackson, and WRs Steve Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Mike Sims-Walker, Santonio Holmes, and Nate Washington. My TEs are Ben Watson and Joel Dreessen, who I think will start in place of an injured Owen Daniels. Thanks.

Phew! Well, after some intense contemplation (lol), I'd have to say trade Blount for Freeman and Witten. These are my reasons:

- I feel you can afford to trade Blount. The rest of your backs are very good, pretty consistent backs.

- Freeman is performing damn near close to the level and consistency of Flacco. Flacco has the edge here and normally I'd go with him but...

- You get Witten. You could really use a good TE, like you mentioned. I know Witten hasn't been putting up the numbers like he did with Romo, but Witten is still a good TE and I have to hope/think that Romo will have some good consistent games with Kitna.

- You could use Moss as part of your weekly options at WR since you don't really have at least 2 awesome and consistent receivers.

What do you think PuRock?

I agree with everything you said. The second trade is so much better. Blount we don't even truly know what he's about yet. He's only has one great game and his value pretty high right now. Plus Bradshaw and Mendenhall should hold down fort from here on out, especially as the colder weather approaches. Freeman is one of the most underrated QBs in fantasy right now. Not putting up big yardage but not turning balls over and scoring TDs. Plus you get Witten on top of it all.

The first trade I wouldn't even consider. Moss will take over what Britt was doing plus more. CJ will take pressure off him as well.

In all honesty If it were me, I"d probably hold tight with Hill and Fitzgerald. And play the underdog fight. Because Blount and Moss would mean more to your roster than Freeman/Witten or Flacco.

I'd keep Romo. The Cowboys aren't placing him on IR, which means if you're lucky and make the fantasy playoffs, he'll be back for week 13 until the end. I still have him on my roster.

I'd do the Blount trade. Freeman's been giving me some good points with Romo out, and if ****na uses his brain for once, Witten has obviously been his favorite weapon.

I wouldn't hold your breath. They didn't place him on IR if by some freak accident the Cowboys were able to muster up some wins and still be contenders. I can't see the Cowboys rushing to get him back in the game when the season is lost, they might just shut him down for the season. No point in having a setback with your franchise QB.

I wouldn't hang onto him if there is someone out there that can help your team.

I don't think they doubt they could make a triumphic return from the dead this season, but I think they would bring Romo back when he's fine. But I can't give you a good reason why because I don't have one.. maybe I'm just in denial because he was winning for me lol.
