Peter King Ranks the QBs

14 posts in this topic

Actually, he's projecting the rankings for this year, based on the last two years. Here's the entire article: Peter King's Rankings

Here are a few highlights, showing where he has McNair and the rest of the AFC North QBs ranked.

Rank Player Team Wins Yds/Att. Pct. Yards TD/INT

1 P. Manning Ind. 26 8.06 0.66 8144 40

2 T. Brady NE 22 7.3 0.624 7639 24

3 D. Brees NO 19 7.58 0.644 7994 24

4 C. Palmer Cin. 19 7.65 0.65 7871 35

11 T. Romo* Dall. 6 8.61 0.653 2903 6

12 D. McNabb Phil. 9 7.66 0.581 5154 19

13 S. McNair Bal. 17 6.58 0.622 6211 9

14 B. Favre GB 12 6.37 0.586 7766 -9

17 Big Ben Pit. 16 8 0.608 5898 3

21 M. Vick Atl. 15 6.3 0.539 4886 9

31 C. Frye Cle. 6 6.2 0.628 3456 -8

32 B. Croyle* KC 0 3.29 0.429 23 -2

*Has not spent the last two seasons as starter

Remember, this is based on 2005-2006.

What do you think about the ratings, especially seeing Palmer behind Brees and Big Ben behind our own Steve McNair?

McNair is one player who is underrated (in my oppinion) i mean just look at the standings with his competitors.....Clearly, McNair is VERY cabable of the Number 1 guy, im sure he is, he has to be, these rankings are whack, they're all just numbers and they dont reflect the players True Performance on the field.....in MY book, McNair is the Number 1 QB....period

Luckly no 13 eh?....

Not all bad... I think his stats will be better this upcoming season then they were last year. Let's all hope.

Romo is WAY overrated.

his success had a lot to do with Dallas' defensive reemergence, rather than his QB play.

Romo is still new as a starter, and is thus still learning and making mistakes.

I think he's the real deal. Testaverde did Dallas a big favor when he took Romo under his wing a few years ago. Everyone from the coaches to Romo himself will tell you that's what turned him from a marginal guy into starter material. He has worked hard, and he's having success. I believe he'll be even better this year.

Back on topic: we're lucky to have McNair - especially after the QB play we suffered through the prior three years.

I think Palmer is the more prototypical QB and I think he's one of the best QBs in the league but I don't fault Peter for given the edge to Brees as Brees/NO have brought a bit more excitement back to football for most fans.

Big Ben should be behind Mcnair. Mcnair has consistently gotten the job done while Ben is a youngster who benefitted from a Ravenesque type of team. He had a great running game, strong defenses and was asked merely to not turn the ball over. Even Trent Dilfer can do that... :P

I don't have trouble with the top 4 at all.Who could?

McNair would be higher if he had more miles left in the tank.

The important thing Steve has brought is stability and leadership to that offense.

Something we have been crying for at the QB position for years.

These ratings are about how I see them, especially 1-4. The only major issues I have are under-rating McNabb and Young (both of whom belong in the top 6), and Favre.

Rivers at 8, Kitna at 9, Romo at 11, and McNair at 13 are generous rankings.

I think he gives mcnabb a fair ranking being that the odds of him completing a season doesn't seem to favorable as of late and Rivers should be terrific in that offense yet again...

Top 4 is a popularity contest!

McNair is underrated cause the last 2 years he was injured and then thrown straight into a new system and then injured for a couple more games with the hand thing

1 year befor this ranking started McNair was toe to toe with manning and split an mvp(which should have been McNairs but the nfl has to hype thier poster boy)

You don't really believe that Manning didn't deserve a piece of that with setting a TD passing record do you?

He turned into "starting material" because he could move, unlike his counterpart Bledsoe

Drew Bledsoe took an exuberant amount of sacks because the Dallas OL was so porous.

Bledsoe had a better arm

Romo had the younger feet
