Joe Flacco Segment on NFL Network

11 posts in this topic

Anyone catch the NFL Network's segment on Flacco? For those who missed it, the segment came right after the Thursday night Falcons/Ravens preview and talks about Flacco for 6-7 minutes.

For those who missed it (should be reaired throughout the week up until the game) they rated Flacco as the number 1 QB in the NFL right now (since week 3) and provided quite a bit of insight on why they believe he is. It was a pretty interesting watch and they picked Flacco over Ryan as the better QB... which is the FIRST time I've ever heard a news source say that!

My favorite part of the segment: "They have the best quarterback right now in the NFL, the best receiving corp right now in the NFL, the best defensive tackle in the NFL right now, the best safety in the NFL right now, the best backfield combo in the NFL right now, the greatest middle linebacker in NFL history right now and quite possibly the best coaching staff in the NFL right now."

The stats (I'm sure a lot of members here know)... really caught me by surprise. I knew Joe has been excellent this season- but it kind of shocked me.

Since week 3 (statistically the best QB in the NFL):

109 QB Rating
11 TDs to 1 INT
66% completion rating
253 YPG
4 games with a QB ratings over 110%
3 games with over 70% completion ratio
4 multiple touchdown games
8 straight home wins going back to last season

I caught the end of it, I didn't know they picked Joe over Matt Ryan! That surprises me because normally they love Ryan and hate on Joe the whole time.

I think one of the major things with Joe right now is his consistency. After he totally stunk up the place he has been making good plays and exploiting different areas of the opposing defense.

I am definitely going to try and catch it on a replay!

I don't like these types of thing because its mostly opinion based.... Sure the stats are there but the're a few QBs i'd take over Flacco when the QB is needed to carry a team to victory and not just used as a complimentary player ( not saying Joe isnt that type or wont be, just saying...).

Joe still has a long way to go but don't expect to see Joe's full potential under Cam's system. They have yet to remove the shackles from Joe.

I agree, but he is only in his 3rd season. I just hope that next Bengals type game doesn't happen in the playoffs.

I doubt it will. The Bengals are one of the few teams which really seem to do that every time to Joe. Chances of them making the playoffs now? Anyone? Anyone at all?

I think Flacco has the ability to be our first franchise QB.. something that's really strange for the Ravens. We've never been the team with a Peyton Manning or Brett Favre on Tom Brady, and I'm not trying to say Flacco is as good as they are (yet) but he's developing and quickly becoming the face of the Ravens. I am starting to see the shift from a purely defensive team to one with a competent offense as well.

The Bengals do have Joes number. But whats amazing is every D coordinator in the league watched that film and has been unable to duplicate those results. Joe must have faced covr 2 bump and run coverage since week 2 and yet he has thrived.

What's important to realize is that we don't need a high caliber offense to be successful, as long as the defense plays well too. So the fact that the offense is performing well in the past 4 plus weeks is nice.

Wow I think a lot of those are just...wrong. We do have a great QB, one of the best running and receiving corps and the best safety in the league and probably best LB ever. But to say the best is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. It is good to hear that people respect all of this talent though.

I don't think the league understands how good of a QB Joe has become. This offense is very hard to keep off the field, as we are #2 in time of possession in the league.
