Cody Moved Ahead Of Mckinney

I like Wallace but I think he's limited with what he can do and where he would be most effective, but I hate how the Steelers got him for such good value. I'd say the Limas Sweed pick balances it all out though :P

Yeah, so was/is Moss. He doesn't have great hands like Moss, but hes a home run hitter. Teams have to account for him at all times, which really opens up the running game, as well as helping out other WR/TE's on the field.

Once he gets better at his routes, he is going to be an even more dangerous player.

Every speedster is a "homerun hitter" but I still wouldn't compare any of them to Moss. Wallace is the poor mans Santonio Holmes.

I wasn't really comparing him to Moss. I was just trying to get the point across, that you don't have to have an array of routes or moves to be a great WR.

I know he was hurt to begin the yearv but I still don't why he hasn't gotten that much of a chance, I've seen him a couple times but I still think our run defence would be better with him in the lineup

Sean Smith was a sexy pick but the guy has struggled and was relegated to the bench this season. The only decent players between Kruger and Webb were LT Sebastian Vollmer and DT Terrence Knighton, either we could have used this year (but were unlikely to have been picked had we missed out on Kruger)

Vollmer is the kid I was thinking about. Smith has struggled mightily this year, he lost his job to Allen...who just got released to make room for Al Harris. I dont have anything against Kruger hes a hardworking smart player, I just dont see where he fits into this scheme position wise.

It's funny because hybrids used to be our thing. Suggs, Thomas, etc; but Kruger doesn't have the outstanding athleticism and, more importantly, speed that those players had/have. He's limited by that.

Ya its the athleticism that he lacks is what hampers him from being another hybrid. When you compare him and Kindle, Kruger actually had more sacks than Kindle did in their final college seasons. But the athleticism isn't even close. That's what holds Kruger back.

If we picked Vollmer last year, you guys would have been furious

1. Not a big named
2. 2 OTs back to back

This board would have went aflame

Not sure why everyone thinks that. Coming into the league, I thought he'd be perfect as a 3-4 OLB, could play either 3-4 or 4-3 DE, and even play ILB if we wanted him to.
I was wondering what the 'official' scouting reports say about him, and came across these:

http://warroomreport...id=412&Itemid=1
http://profootball.s...m/2/860044.html
http://www.fftoolbox...rospect_id=1883

Three different sites, they all pretty much agree with what I thought of him. Not that it proves anything, but at least I know I'm not just being a crazy homer. Also falls in line with what we were talking about earlier; I think he needs a little coaching and good old fashioned game experience...common theme with those scouting reports is his main weakness is his lack of experience.
Time will tell, and we all agree on one thing...he has potential, and we need him to fulfill it ASAP.

Well every NFL player is athletic relative to an average person, JJ for example is relatively athletic but he can't do everything Suggs can do.

I know measurables don't tell the whole story but.... I just find it hard to get over a 263lb rusher posting a 5 second 40 yard dash.

Thats just a hindsight pick, if Gaither was never in whatever his situation is then it would have been useless anyway as well.

'Athletic' is a very vague term to use; I hate it actually. I've seen Kruger's 40- being everywhere from 4.60 to 4.90...but what's much more important than a 40 yard dash for a LB or DE is their lateral movement and reaction time; things that fall under the 'athletic' label, but hard to substantiate into something we can measure other than with our eyes (and yes, I know you said measurables don't tell the whole story, just rolling with that theme). One common report about him is his ability to 'play in space', which is a by-product of .... his lateral movement and reaction. He is also very, very strong in his upper body, especially for an OLB, which is another trait that goes under the 'athletic' label. He changes direction pretty well too.
I think the only thing that you can knock on his athleticism is that he doesn't run a 4.4, and his leg strength needs more improvement.
I'll just say this. Kruger isn't the athlete that Gooden or Suggs is, but he is twice the athlete JJ is, and JJ plays OLB (and in a pinch, DE). So if he is athletic enough to do it successfully, Kruger should excel.

Do see how the coaches are starting to use our depth more especially our young talent? I like it! I think the guys who havent played much have alot of upside to them. They have that drive of this being their only shot to prove themself and their fresh off of injuries for the most part. Like Harbaugh was saying bringing those guys in brings speed and versatility, we need that on both sides of the ball.

Yeah it has been surprising how Gregg has been blocked out on alot of run plays... But I thought he and Cody would have been rotating more (although cody injuries played a part in that) it has gotten very annoying reading how talented he is and will be and rarely see him on the field during games..

I have this picture of Cody gobbling up blockers like Sam Adams used to do

Cody could develop into that player in time but not this year.
