Its part of a ingenious strategy by Phil Savage, he gives his older players staph infections so they hopefully retire, then he goes out and signs as many ex-Ravens as he possibly can with the new cap room.

Plus, his strategy will free up cap space for all the incoming draft picks...oh, wait.

or maybe with the limited cap room, they couldn't afford to have someone sanitize the weight room

Considering we're approximately $12 million *under* the cap right now, I highly doubt that is the reason.. yes, sarcasm intended. =]

However, as far as the real reason you got me. They did a major overhaul of our facilities and cleaned extensively and things looked great until this latest one.. not sure what else they need to do personally.

I think the Bengals are responsible for this...

They'd totally do something like that. Maybe TJ took and rubbed down the Browns training staff supplies with that terrible towel he cleaned his cleats with.

Well, another one got it. Kellen Winslow had a staph infection and he got suspended because of comments he made about the club's dealing with it. Seriously, what's going on over there?

With regards to the staph unfortunately I have no clue what is going on. It's obvious however that at least currently it isn't just Winslow being affected by this as recent stories surfaced of Manning having a 2nd surgery and now Tom Brady having more.

As far as KW2 being suspended IMO it was the right move. I don't necessarily agree with how it has all gone down but the bottom line is that Savage/Crennel/Winslow ALL AGREED to keep this quiet and confidential. Winslow then decides he wants to run his mouth because he's either not happy or thinks DA sucks or the whole offense sucks or WHATEVER. I really enjoy KW2's play and what he brings but he and nobody else is bigger than the team and he had to be disciplined for it.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he is traded during the offseason after all of this.

I dont think Brady or Manning had a staph infection. They had infections but it wasnt what Cleveland players have been suffering from. Staph infections for the most part come from uncleanliness.

I kind of agree with Winslow on this one but its hard knowing the underlying reason. It came out recently that the organization had tried to trade him before the trade deadline, before this most recent incident and according to what I read he didnt know about it. I also think he's just sick of losing, which is really being blown up since he isnt getting that fat contract he wants. I bet if Cleveland had spent some of that money they gave to quick fixes Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams on giving Winslow a new deal, we wouldnt be having this discussion.

While it's not confirmed that is Brady's issue I refuse to believe otherwise until more information comes out. I find it hard to believe it can be anything else. With Manning I re-read about him and I thought for some reason they said that was his issue but it wasn't so my apologies on that statement as it was incorrect.

As far as the staph infections I have no clue again why we seem to get hit with them more often than not. Cleveland did a full sterilization of their entire facility and redid the entire locker room recently to help with this so hopefully sooner rather than later they figure out what the problem is.

With Winslow a lot of people believe it is contract related. If that is the case then again I think KW2 needs to re-evaluate things; he destroys his knee riding a crotch-rocket after already messing his knee up with a football injury. We redo his contract and make it so that he has the ability to earn back almost ALL of the money he was slated to make before his setbacks which I think is pretty fair. If he's pissed about it and feels this is the best way to vent it then hopefully him being suspended will make him realize it isn't.

I do honestly believe the ultimate root of all of this is because the offense as a whole has sucked horribly for the most part this year and his numbers are drastically down.

I read somewhere Brady's is MRSA and is endangering his graft, this stuff is scary. I do recall they ripped up the carpet in the EJD for MRSA 2 years ago.

Staph is a major concern, I believe it was Minnesota who had some HUGE problems! One player near death or something to that effect. They proved to have high levels of Staph. in the recovery tubs. Inside the NFL or REALsports did a story on it a few years back.

ESPN confirmed that both Manning and Brady did suffer from staph infections.

And now it gets even more interesting:

But things off the field have reached a point where the Browns as a team had to take the stand they did. Now it's time to take a stronger one.

Savage explained that because of legal issues and federal HIPAA laws, the team could not reveal the nature of Winslow's illness without his approval.

''Given the nature of this situation, it seemed that the people involved wouldn't want it out there,'' Savage said.

Savage also called Winslow's condition a ''nonfootball illness that occurred during the bye week.''

He added: ''Our hands are tied in certain situations on these medical things. It was all agreed upon.''

Agreed upon by Winslow and his ''people.''

And the plot thickens. ESPN has circled the wagon because the Colts released a statement saying that Manning was not treated for a staph infection. This is becoming more confusing by the minute.

Well, at least now we get a break from the Cowboys soap opera, to focus on that of the Browns and Ravens.

It seems as if the Colts are denying that Manning had MRSA, but don't deny that he had a staph infection of some sort.

I didn't even realize until the other day that MRSA was a kind of staph infection, when I was having a look at staph infections because of this whole thing.

MRSA is the worst kind of staph to get. My girlfriend used to work at a jail down here and told me it was a huge problem there as well. I know hospitals have issues with MRSA as well.

Maybe Phil Savage is staying true to his Ravens roots and is trying to sabotage the Browns organization from the inside.
