I was! He's a four year man, yes? That's what I get for listening to the announcers. Thank you for pointing this oversight in my post out to me. Sincerely.
Lol. Technically I guess he's a rookie on our team, but not in the league. I hear crazy stuff from these announcers.

I cant believe some people are actually defending fabe. He's played horrible way more than just the last two games. He is just simply not a good corner. There was a reason Oakland gave him away. They prolly chuckled when Baltimore wanted him.
[/quot e]

Oakland plays straight up man to man 90% of the man, Fabian doesn't play great man coverage, he's more of a zone corner.

I don't trust Fabe when he's out there. Its like his brain is slow to react, then he guesses wrong most of the time.

I don't think we should get rid of him, he can still play nickel or dime, I think he needs to retrain, and get his confidence back.

Right now he's a liability, and the coaches saw that, and benched him. What was that term, um, PLAY LIKE A RAVEN?

Well, we are starting to see who is and isn't! Nice job JW37

That's what I was going to say! Again, nothing against the guy, and I know he isn't the worst, but I don't trust him. That's pretty much what I guess trying to get out this whole time. :34853_doh:

Looking back at Fabe since he's been here, he has been inconsistent. Every CB gets burnt, even Revis, but Fabe just looks like a college kid trying to cover a Pro.

Then, he is always falling down(Is it the cleats?) and whiffs on tackles. This is unacceptable. Its a bad disease for a defense to have, I think Landry caught it for a couple weeks, hopefully he got better.

Aw, now, that's just not true. Fabs, at one point last year, was the guy everyone was praising because Foxy was slipping and messing up at every pertinent time and Fabs was the one shoring up the field. What short memories some of you have! Fabs was the guy everyone was praising for being so lights out and now he's the guy Oakland chuckled at letting go? Please people, think beyond the past few weeks. Fabs isn't the best corner in the world, but he's certainly not the worst and has definitely put in some damn good games for the Ravens..last year and this year.

I've never been a believer in Fabian. I thought coming into the season that he was the worst out of him, Webb, Carr and Wilson and so far that's been the case.

The thing we need out of our secondary is just consistency. Carr is the only guy I can think of that has been the closest to consistent so far. We'll see...

Hahahaha. Not laughing at you, bdravens, but just the fact that the guy you name is Carr. The guy that the year he came here, EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD was bagging on. And his first year was *rough*. Everyone wanted him shipped out, everyone wanted him cut, no one here liked him, you know the story. The guy settles down and starts to make plays and now here he is, the guy who is 'closest to consistent'. Just goes to show you, we Ravens fans tend to blow the whistle a little too early.

Hmm... I honestly didnt think this many of you would be calling for his head. I thought he played extremely well with the exception of the bills game and this game. I dont have a problem with wilson starting in his place but if Fabe starts i have faith he can play well because hes showed it. i think the best word was inconsistent though.

So guys can't get in a funk? They're not allowed? That's awfully inconsiderate. This isn't baseball, where you can just throw guys in a lineup and let 'em swing..this is football. You have to rally around these guys and make sure they know you still believe in them. Fabs did it 'then', and he's more than capable of doing it now..he's just not. Like I said, if this becomes a normal thing, then heck yea throw Wilson in there. But we shouldn't pull the rug out from Fabs for no other reason than a couple of bad games.

Well that's the thing, this seems like a normal thing already, even before the Bills game. Before that game, he hadn't really played notably bad, but others around him still played better for the most part.

I don't think Fabian should never see the field...just not as much as Wilson and others.

As a few guys have said before, it's our job
Seriously though, this is getting kinda out of hand. BUT remember this: when we got Carr, it was to be a kick/punt returner, because he was pretty good at that in Tennesee. He failed miserably at that here, so he got moved to corner because he was athletic enough. Fabian is a raised cornerback while Carr is not.

People forget that he was a huge part of are defense early in the year. He was playing lights out now he has had 2 bad games... IMO i think he deserves another shot you can tell he wants to be out there and be a Raven.
He didn't play as well as you think early in the year. Both of Pittsburghs TDs they picked on FW the entire drive. Sanchez is not a good QB, Carson Palmer looks like he does not know how to read a defense. Outside of the Denver game he has not shown great effort at least IMO. Chris Carr covers ok and almost always wraps up his tackles that is why he is not picked on over and over.

Honestly, with the exception of Ed Reed and Chris Carr, it is extremely difficult for me to evaluate the DBs objectively. REASON - lack of a consistent pass ruch.

The rules committee of the NFL have made it almost impossible to cover NFL recievers for more that 4 seconds. The PASS RUSH has become equally important to pass defense in the NFL than secondary coverage itself.

My unscientific observation tells me that Fabian might be better that he looks......ONLY because the pass rush might be worse than we think. Just an opinion.

What? Carr has always been a CB dude. He wasn't a starter in Tennessee or at Oakland but he's a CB. The team didn't expect to rely on him last season but with Rolle being out, they had to and he's steadily improved since then.

You've gotta understand that with that, we've been watching a very lackluster pass rush for most of the year..but who's getting picked on most often? Fabian is, because he can't generally keep up. PuRock said earlier that he lacks that get-go speed that you absolutely need as a CB, and that lack of get-go speed ends up hurting him and making him look bad.

I was going to say it, but Ed_Reed20 beat me to it. Chris Carr was a CB for the Titans and he came here to do the same thing. He didn't come here to be a kick/punt returner, he was just an option we had because he wasn't a starter when he first got here.

My fault. From what I had understood from before he wasn't one, but thanks for the correction. Either way though, like you mentioned he didn't play CB much with previous teams, but look where he is now. He's on the field a lot, and he really earned the spot. I've been waiting for Fabe to earn his spot for a while...

I definitely agree, Fabs is getting picked on. But honestly, name one DB we have that hasn't been picked on at least once this season or last..the list stops at Ed Reed. I guess I'm saying that our secondary is suspect and nobody in the league doesn't know that. It's just a game of 'who is the best to pick on' at this time. I mean even in this game, Fabian made a few good plays but also got beat. It's just who the opposing team decides to pick on. They could just as easily as picked on Carr. Let's not kid ourselves. Outside of Ed, we don't have any outstanding DBs that absolutely demand you don't mess with them. So any one of our guys could be 'the guy' to throw at. That doesn't make Fabs horrible, it just makes him aware that he needs to pick up his game and the coaches aware that they need to make adjustments with him specifically in mind.

Even Ed was getting beat in the Buffalo game. But that can be expected with a guy that hadn't played a game since last January. He even said it, he was a step slow. Credit to Fabian, even he said he played terrible against Buffalo, and I honestly was pulling for him today. We have a young CB crew still, but i just don't know about Fabe.

Ed wasn't 'getting beat', he was slow to cover a play over the top with the primary DB falling behind. That was his first game back from hip surgery..sorry, I'm not ready to say he was beat there..like you say. Yes, Fabs played horribly playing against Lee Evans. He was just faked out every time. That doesn't make him bad, and it doesn't make him worthy to be cut for a guy who's only been on the team for less than a season. I love Josh! He played incredibly today! But like I said, that's because we haven't been shoehorning him into games. We've let him watch, and get some time, and let him get acclimated. Just casting Fabs into second string status and Josh into first isn't the way to help a struggling DB.

That's a better way to put it. What I meant was, he was a step slow, and was late getting to some throws, but all it took was the bye week to eliminate that. I'm not ready to give up on Fabe COMPLETELY; just for the time being. I think he needs to do as Wilson did, let him get some time and figure himself out. Get him in a few plays here or there, but I think Wilson has played well enough to take his spot.
