Cam Cameron

A lot of hate on Cam in past weeks. I wanted to make a new thread to show him appreciation. I know it is only one week, but hopefully he continues to do what he did today. The run was pretty established even after it did not do much early. And we had many 3+ WR sets. This opened the ball up a lot for Rice. And many of those were nott designed check downs. Flacco was looking everywhere very often. I believe 7 total Ravens caught a ball today (including Cary Williams). I was glad to see House and Stallworth on the field a LOT. Even sometimes in 2 WR sets. I hope this style continues of course with changes here and there depending on the opponent. But anyway Cam keep fighting to keep your job and much thanks for setting Joe up for a victory.

I have to admit, Cam called a perfect game. Ultra aggressive out of the gate, took the lead and never let go- then ran the ball to kill the clock and finish the game.

Cameron: A+

I thought Cam was spot on today, even the plays he called that didnt work, were not because of the playcall but protection broke down most of the time. I thought Cam was relentless in attacking Miami's defense today.

Yeah, last two weeks after all the crap he caught, he has really done pretty much everything we were complaining about. If he keeps doing this he gets out of my doghouse haha

Ha I know. I meant if his poor decisions of last week continued he may not get re-signed

Agreed, he called a great game. Great dose of the run, and using the short screens was a good way to mitigate their pass rush, which was critical. Flacco was surgical. Defense was fantastic in the 2nd half.

Cam called a good game today, but we looked a lot better than we should have because none of the Dolphins could tackle at all

Yep, I was one of those criticizing him in the past few weeks. Today, he got better and is versatile on playcallings. I hope he can keep that up and mix it up in every game.

A+ for Cam and Joe today.

THIS was the Ravens I love to see.

Granted those first few Dolphins runs had me nervous but it seems we fixed that up right quick.

Great job team and coaches.

Cam's playcalling is goint to look a LOT better when Flacco's decison making becomes more consistent and the offensive execution gets better. I predict both will happen by the end of this year. I am encouraged by what I see, but it is still a work in progress. I get more valuable data when the Ravens play the elite teams rather than the middle of the pack.

I still hate the obvious first down give to Rice.
Love Ray to run the ball, but if I know what we do EVERY time, the other
teams studying the films will know too..

Good job Cam. I'm not homerific enough to believe that it was my caterwauling that made you 'change your ways' but that you are a generally good OC and the rest of us are just voices in the wind. Thanks for calling the plays you felt you needed to..if only to let the Ravens fanbase think they actually did it instead.

I am one of Cameron's biggest critics but you can't criticize an offensive performance which featured no punts. Thought our redzone offense could still use some work but Cam gets an A in my book today.

He is only getting better. I have seen a lot of progress in Flacco this year.
And I was talking about Cam's job security. I love him sometimes, hate him others. Just want that consistency there too ya know

It wouldn't be bad if we could do anything running on 3rd and short. The blocking is never there. And because of that he sometimes decides to call a pass on 3rd and short. That isn't a bad decision, when all the receivers aren't going deep!

I still have a problem with his short yardage playcalling. Its way too obvious
My observation is that the Ravens are just not built to be a good short yardage team anyway.

When we got rid of last years fullback, we turned away from the heavy package with Leron as the tailback. That was the last time I though the Ravens even had the ABILITY to impose their will in short yardage situations. Add that to the awol B/S pulled (or injury, if you insist) by Jared Gaither, it adds up to a total lack of a ground and pound game. The Ravens running game is predicated on trickery and a high level of elussiveness skills from Ray and Willis. We really arent flat out imposing our will or BULLYING ANYBODY with our ground and pound.

Actually, that personnel move still baffles me, because the Ravens were known to get the lead and the forth quarter it was lights out. Now they have to be clever and shifty in the forth quarter and have blown 10 point lead twice. I attribute those failures to those unfortunate personnel moves in the off season. Thats my opinion.

If you're talking about Lorenzo Neal, he was the team's FB TWO years ago. McClain was the FB last year and the Ravens had one of the best running attacks in the NFL. It's Gaither's absense that has really hurt.

Sorry, you are correct, but my point is the same. That was actually the last time I thought the the Ravens were Ground Bullys. When they had third and short, they imposed their will. It didn't matter if you knew what was coming. You just couldn't stop it.

Yeah, the Ravens battered opposing defenses in '08.

But with Joe's development, the fact most teams don't have multiple FBs on their roster and that the team has their starting right guard playing right tackle, the running game has suffered.

I'm still not happy with Cam, he'll still pepper our season with bad games. I'd like to see us getting less cute and back to smashmouth.

Well, I kinda worked myself into that position regarding Jared Gaither's Injury. I think it might take therapy to change my opinion about him.

Even a Cam hater like me has to admit I liked his gameplan against the Dolphins. He still needs to let Flacco audible but im ok with the gameplan he came with today. Hopefully going forward he will keep it up. I was so happy to see when we needed one yard we ran McClain and mixed in some McGahee.
