Donte Stallworth's Return!

49 posts in this topic

From the moment we signed him, Dante Stallworth has given his all to learn the playbook. He looked sharp in training camp. Occasionally, he flashed the speed that made all the other receivers notice him. Maybe, he will be rusty and a little nervous this Sunday. All of Baltimore will be cheering for him when he finally makes his return to the field of play. Number 18 has been overlooked since the signing of Houshmandzadeh, but I think that he still has a few TDs left in the tank. Let's give him a Baltimore welcome and show him some love.

Sorry, I misspelled his name Dante, actually it's Donte'. Sometimes, I get ahead of myself when writing in English.

All I can say is, "Se non parlate italiano, quindi non si ottiene la barzelletta." (My rough translation: If you don't speak Italian, then you won't get the joke." :th_happypills:

Id have to say Im more Curious than excited. It will be interesting to see how he is utilized going forward.
I don't think that it's wise to let him return punts or kicks yet. He won't be running full speed. I'd like to see him catch one for 20 yards though.

I would be excited, but unfortunately we're gonna do this lame thing where we barely play him, then play him a little more next time, and then a little more until I'm sick of him. I say put 'em out there on both sides of the ball. For both teams. That'll get him back in shape. ;)

Nah I'm excited.

Im just happy to be watching Reed again.

Ed Reed is an impact player. First he caused a fumble, then he had 2 INTs. Maybe I should delete this thread and start one called, "Are you as excited about Ed Reed as the rest of us?" :rimshot:

Speaking of people returning, did Krueger ever come back? havent seen him
The only 2 on the injury report that most likely won't play are Dennis Pitta (head) and Tom Zbikowski (foot). Stallworth is still listed as having an injured foot but he really wants to play, as did Reed when he was ready to come back last week.
Krueger is listed as the backup to Redding on the Ravens' depth chart.

He played during the Bills game and saw a lot of time when Gregg went down.

Yeah I was disappointed when we signed Housh. I thought it would of been smarter to bring up a rookie to play as our number 3 or even Smith. Heck we could of ran more 2 TE sets. Anyways, I hope Stallworth gets more snaps than Housh. I honestly just don't like TJ. Never have.

Meh, I don't have high expectations for a guy that's missed so much time and who has really proven nothing to receive all this rah rah that Raven fans seem to be giving him. The only thing he's really proven is that he can get injured really easily. I hope he does well because he's on the squad, but he's certainly not someone I'd expect to make an immediate impact.

I spoke Italian when I was younger, but like they say, if you don't use it, you lose it, and I've pretty much lost it.

I can't wait to see him, but I don't expect for him to make big plays in his first game back, it could take some time.

Lets send Stallworth over the top on the first play, blow the lid off the M&T from the get-go.

I'm actually listening to a song called Fireworks right now, and yes I would love to see them on the first play, but I highly doubt it.
Wouldn't want to see him reinjure himself or even drop it on the first play.
Statement plays are rare.
But I do have to say that the flea flicker to Boldin after the Reed interception, for a TD, was a beautiful punch in the mouth.

Well, I will try to be cautiously optimistic.Keep in mind, this is a guy who hasn't seen a football field in two years. On top of that, his last productive season was, what, four years ago?

There it is, realism can be a cold dish served, nuff said! I really don't expect to see him on the field much, other than possibly returning a few. Maybe Cam does have some big, exciting play in mind where he sends him deep to draw coverage and throws a dumpoff to Rice.

I know I'm excited, but Boldin, Housh and that old guy have to be even more excited considering the deep middle of the field should open up.

I'm ready to see him if he actually plays tomorrow. We'll just have to see what Camerom has planned for the offense tomorrow.

My prediction is that he will play and have at least one or two catches for 20 yards or so. I like the idea that sending Donte long will open up the short passing lanes over the middle.

Si dimentica mai veramente italiano. Basta uscire ai luoghi dove le persone parlano la lingua e provarlo. Mi fu educato da suore francesi in Valle D'Aorta e non ha mai dimenticato francese.

I don't expect him to make a statistical impact, but it's his presence IMO that keeps defenses honest. Similar to Moss but nowhere near the magnitude. Defenses will have to keep a safety farther back or run the risk of getting burnt deep.

But to be honest, I'm not really too thrilled with his return. He's gonna be a 3rd/4th WR option. If Housh can't make an impact as a 3rd WR I don't see Stallworth making one either.

The only impact Housh has had thus far is the game winner at Pitt (that was critical, I agree). In terms of his overall impact on bettering our offense throughout the year, it hasn't been there. 9 catches on 25 targets (thanks again Alexir) in 7 games is nowhere near the impact many of us expected with him coming in.

In terms of his non-statistical impact, I think you can make a point that he has affected the way defenses play us. Housh's ability to influence PI's has been helpful in certain games.

Overall, however, I'd like to see him make more of an impact. That won't come until Cameron utilizes him more in the offense.
