[Blogs] Who’s Playing, Who’s Not vs. Dolphins

29 posts in this topic

It’s been a long time coming – nearly two years, in fact – but it seems that Donte’ Stallworth will play in a game Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

According to the final injury report, Stallworth is probable (75-percent chance of playing) after rehabilitating the foot he broke in the Ravens’ third preseason game.

Stallworth fully participated in practice all week and was happy with the results.

“It felt pretty good,” Stallworth said on Friday.  ”I know it’s probably going to be sore for the rest of the season. I’m still going to be a game-time decision. Hopefully, it doesn’t, but it could get sore on me tonight or Saturday. I’m hoping that Sunday comes around, I’m feeling good and ready to go.

“I can feel it when I’m running and really afterwards, but if I can go out there and be effective and get open, that’s what matters most.”

Just how Stallworth will be used is uncertain, however.

Stallworth is in the mix at punt return, and he can also add a speedy downfield threat to the passing game.

“He’s part of the rotation, gives us tremendous speed, veteran player, proven production,” said Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron, who also juggles Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason and T.J. Houshmandzadeh at receiver.  ”We’re looking forward to getting him back.”

Zibby A No-Go

The news wasn’t as good for safety Tom Zbikowski, who has a heel injury and was declared out for Sunday.

Zbikowski couldn’t practice this week, and hasn’t since he hurt his foot in Baltimore’s Week 6 matchup with the New England Patriots.

“It’s starting to get there,” Zbikowski said on Wednesday.  ”I’m starting to walk on it a little bit better. I’m just really taking it day-by-day.”

Zbikowski began the season starting for Ed Reed, but now that Reed is back from a hip injury, the Ravens will utilize Haruki Nakamura and Ken Hamlin to provide depth at safety.

Gooden Primed To Play

While he will defer his game status to the coaches, linebacker Tavares Gooden’s desire to play is clear.

He was taken off the injury report this week and participated in all practices, seemingly recovered from a shoulder injury suffered on Sept. 19.

“It’s been great to be out there with my teammates,” Gooden said.  ”I feel good, but it’s going to be a game-time decision for my coaches whether I’m active or not.  I’m just happy for a shot.  It was a fun week for me.”

Pitta Probable

Rookie tight end Dennis Pitta was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday with a head injury, but he is deemed probable after post-practice testing on Friday.  When the original injury report came out, Pitta was listed as doubtful and was later upgraded.

Pitta, a fourth-round draft pick, has been a solid special teamer for the Ravens, but hasn’t been able to climb up the depth chart past Todd Heap and Ed Dickson yet.

Heap, Mason, Reed Cleared From Injury Report

After starting the week on the injury report, Heap (back), Mason (ankle) and Reed (ankle) came off it Thursday, meaning all three starters will definitely play.

Several media reports stated that Mason had surgery on his finger during the bye week, but he did not seem to have any issues with a finger in the locker room on Friday.

“The finger’s good,” he told a group of reporters.  ”You didn’t see me out there catching punts?”

For The Dolphins

Miami enters Sunday’s contest fairly healthy, as safety Yeremiah Bell (toe) and running back Patrick Cobbs (hamstring) are both questionable, while starting linebacker Channing Crowder (thumb) is probable.

I have a feeling he will at most see the field on offense twice. I would not be surprised if he was only on ST. And I don't think he is ready to return balls on ST yet either. I expect them to let him kind of get a feel for a game first. It has been a while since he played. But I do hope they at least try to work him in on the offense a little bit, and Joe target him a couple times. They don't have any real game experience playing together so it could help strengthen that chemistry.

give Stallworth another couple weeks to get the foot 100%, dont need to aggravate it again, especially on KR PR. Keep Josh Wilson and Parmele on KR...and try Mason out there.

@BleedPurPle410: Good point.

If he's up to it, I would sure welcome Donte' giving PRs a go. Wouldn't risk Mase.

Zibby, take your time, lol. Not glad you're hurt, but would like to see somebody crack a PR into enemy territory for once.

Mason or Stallworth should never be returning punts on Sunday. Mason is at the point of his career where a severe injury would end it. I hope Stallworth learned not to rush back. It's obvious that he wants to get his career on track, but why risk it all by returning punts too soon.

I hope Channing Crowder is able to play. He may not meet mason, but some of his teammates might do something to make Crowder look silly. Mcgahee might use that "get out my face" stiff-arm!

holly cow we got some depth on our team now. I feel the only weak spot is Joe flacco. I have been a fan since the birth of the Ravens and fuuuuuurther back for the Colts. But I will never be a flacco fan. I don't see anything but poor decision making limited mobility, ZERO emotion and drive. He is a zombie who makes game losing mistakes more often then not. Am I on an island by my self here? Ray Lewis Carries this team. Point blank. Shop for a new QB and we will get that ring again. Hopefully I'm wrong and he does something!!! And while i'm on a rant, Why did we cut Dilfer after the superbowl win Damn i'm still bitter about that one. Will never forgive Coach BB For that one!Seems like Yesterday in my mind....

Starttman.....I'm not sold on Flacco either and we Cameron to much heat while Flacco gets a pass from most fans, but he has played better as of late. The Fins have a good defense lets see how he does.

Starttman, You are on an island by yourself. We don't see a non emotional Flacco, we see a confident, CALM Flacco. He said it himself, he's only emotional when they score, which sounds like he has very high standards for himself and the team.

Matt Ryan is so overrated. Flacco never gets the respect he deserves, its all about Ryan, Sanchez, Stafford, and Bradford. The guys was THE 1st rookie to take his team to the afc championship game, he also took the team to he divisional game last year. his completion percentage has improved in his sophomore year compare to his rookie year, at the same time more TDs and less INTs, what did Ryan do last year? he sat out quarter of the season, threw more picks than TDs and had a massive slump. Nobody likes joe just because the same reason they don't like Baltimore. thats because baltimore is not a "look at me" kinda team, we take pride of our team and the fact that it's build on a foundation to be successful. All i have to say is that steve and ozzie are amazing at what they do, could've you possibly imagine having that bump Jason Garrett as the head coach of Baltimore Ravens?

@ Ali... Or Rex Ryan??? I agree. But it seems our team doesn't necessarily care about the attention or the media. Which I believe is a good thing. It's just a little sad that the media is wishy washy about the team; and that Joe just isn't "flashy" enough. And, I think that's the problem. If Joe ran all over the field jumping and putting on a show like Favre (and Sanchez) used to do (or does) then maybe the media would like him more.

Excuse me DIE HARD RAVENS FAN COMMING THROUGH!!!! With that said, I have to say I agree with starttman (6:17 am) we need to get rid of Flacco. We have had too many overthrown balls and bad decisions from him. I'd rather watch Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Michael Vick or even former QB Troy Smith play after last week(He looked dangerously good)!! We need a mobile QB point blank.

For the "fans" calling for Flacco's job... get over yourselves. Flacco has some improvements to make, but considering how many games/seasons he's played, he's doing great. All QBs have a learning curve. GB was boo'ing Rodgers at one point, Brees got run out of SD, etc etc. Hold onto your skirts and be glad your jobs don't come with national attention.

WOW, the idiots are out today. after the fall apart in cincy flacco has been one of the best qbs in the nfl. in the last five weeks he has one interception, nine touchdowns, and one of the highest qb ratings , and i believe i read the other day that since his rookie year the only qbs that have more wins is brees and manning.

yes like most people I am shocked by what fitzpatrick, and vick have done, it is nice to see two guys that were pretty much forgotten about show they can be a starting qb, but flacco has only been in the nfl for two years and both years he has been to the playoffs, while fitzpatrick rode the bench for years, and until this year he was horrible. vick is in his ninth year in the league and has only had one or two good season. it has taken him nine years to finally learn how to play smart. he is actually staying in the pocket, making good passes and is only running with the ball when he has to. but most importantly the only mobile qb that has ever won the superbowl is steve young. and that isn't likely to change anytime soon.

lets look at the other young starting qbs that have come out of the draft the last three years; sanchez, hemme, bradford, and ryan. not really four guys that have been putting up great stats, ryan was good his rookie year and bradford has put up a bunch of tds this season, but by looking at this list of men it is doubtful the team will be able to draft a guy that will play better then flacco. and except for philly, most teams don't let go of their franchise qb. so its not likely you will be able to grab a player from another team

We may not get a lot of attention from the media....but you can bet your last dollar that NO team in the NFL takes us lightly.
