I Know It's Early

Your thoughts? If the playoffs did start today - which two teams do you think would make the Super Bowl? Who would take it all?

Here are mine:
Steelers over Colts -- Colts are having an identity crisis at the moment & too many key players out along with a struggling defense.

Chiefs over Jets -- Chiefs have been perfect at home thus far, you take that kind of momentum into the playoffs, makes it tough for any team.

Patriots over Steelers -- Honestly, this is an up-in-the-air prediction; with the way these two teams are playing right now, it'd be an all out war. Pats, but not by much.

Ravens over Chiefs -- Chiefs may be good at home, but they're in the Ravens' backyard in the playoffs. Good luck.

Ravens over Patriots -- Ravens are a great road team in the playoffs, not to mention New England just squeaked by the last go-round and the Ravens own the only playoff "W" between the two.

Packers over Saints -- Saints, like the Colts, are struggling to find their identity. You can't take that kind of a team into a game against a red-hot Green Bay at home.

Seahawks over Buccaneers -- Seahawks at home, Bucs traveling. Neither team has been impressive in either situation.

Giants over Seahawks -- Giants have had a slightly easy schedule up to this point. It wouldn't change if Seattle managed to push through the Wild-Card weekend.

Falcons over Packers -- Falcons have stayed healthy up to this point and with their perfect road record, a last minute drive would be the deciding factor.

Falcons over Giants -- A knock-down, drag out battle for the NFC Championship. Falcons by a field-goal.

Ravens over Falcons -- It'd be great to see a couple of year-three QBs at the big dance together. We could finally resolve the "who really deserved 2008 ROTY honors" debate. Ravens but not by much. Ray Lewis, Ray Rice or Anquan Boldin wins MVP.

Why would people neg you?

But anyway, thanks for posting this. Would love to either have the Chiefs or Jets at home, not the Steelers or Colts lol. The NFC is in shambles this year, can't believe the Seahawks and the Buccaneers have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Keep updating this after every week, it'll get really interesting when it comes close to crunch time. Nice post Malkavian.

Why would people neg you? Wait, that was a dumb question. Some people have no lives and do it just to do it.

I think the Colts and Titans are 2 teams I want to avoid at all costs.

I feel pretty good about our chances against any other team, although Pitt would be another bloodbath.

NFC South boasting three teams... again, looks pretty brutal thus far.

Ok I'm confused what team is what seed, because it looks like the playoff matchups are wrong, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5... and I have a much different playoff seeded format than you I think so if you could tell me what seed everyone is this will be easier to understand.

Here is what I got:

1)Patriots
2)Ravens
3)Chiefs
4)Colts
5)Jets
6)Steelers

Edit: Fixed didn't see the tie breaker of the win % between KC & Indy.

Indy is 3 and KC is 6....needs some changes here

Isn't it

NE
Balt
Indy
Jets
Pitt
Chiefs
The division leaders take up seeds 1-4. So the Jets and Pittsburgh could only be in seeds 5 and 6. The Chiefs also have a better record than Indy, so they'd be seeded higher than the Colts.

Fixed.

NFL hadn't updated their conference standings page; that's where the mix-up came from.

No KC is not 6... since they would win the division they are at lowest the 4th seed. First 4 is division winners and 5th & 6th seeds are the best teams in the conference who didn't win the division.

Also Chiefs at 3, and Colts at 4? You really think the Chiefs will get a higher seed than Indy?

[s]Maybe not at the end of the regular season, but as it sits now, they have a better win percentage than the Colts (Colts: 67%, Chiefs: 71%) which gives them the third seed.[/s]

I stand corrected, I forgot to factor in Indy's win last night.

I'm too lazy to research who holds the tie breaker now since they both have a 71.4% win percentage. But NFL.com has Chiefs at 3 and Colts at 4.

I don't know who I would want to win between the Colts or the Steelers. If the Colts win,we would play them right away. But if the Steelers win,we could play them in the Afc championship

I hate to do this to you, as you put together a very nice bracket but I found something else wrong. If the Falcons are the NFC South Champs, and Seeds 1-4 go to the Division Champs, how can Tampa be the 3 Seed? Tampa should be the 6th Seed. Sorry.

The NFC is pathetic, they really need to spread the talent around. AFC Divisions are stacked, particularly the south, Indy, Tenn, Hou are all top competitors, they should all have a shot in the playoffs with that talent and to some degree maybe even the Jags when they're consistent (maybe not this season)

The Steelers and Jets were sitting on top of everyone's power ranking prior to this past Sunday. They both lost to NFC teams and we play ATL in 7 days. That will be a tough game for us.

Not really. It's more so the AFC North & AFC East that is more stacked since it seems that only the division winner in the AFC South will make the playoffs and the 2 wild cards will go to the 2nd place teams in the AFC North & East. The AFC North & East have separated themselves from the rest of the AFC as the best divisions, arguably the top 2 divisions in the NFL. With the way the Patriots, Jets, Steelers and Ravens are, I can't see the wild card spots going to anybody but the 2nd place team in the AFC East & North.

Keeping it real, if the playoffs started today, I wouldn't see us making it past the first game. :(
Where is your basis behind this? The fact that we lost to the Jets? Oh, wait...... The fact that we lost to the Steelers? Oh, wait...... Our AFC record as a whole? Oh, wait......

I'm listening....
