We are ranked #2 on ESPN power ranking

:baltimore-ravens: 2 (4) Ravens 5-2 Without much fanfare, the Ravens have quietly won four of their past five. (Walker)

Nice, its a shame we lost to the Patriots. We had that game in hand.

We would have had wins against all the top teams, Jets, Steelers and Pats.

Quite fair IMO, they don't really have any excuses for placing PIT or NYJ ahead of us since both of them lost this past Sunday.

On a side note, I love what the comment is about the Bengals and Cowboys!

The Sun has the Ravens at 6 again this week, with the Steelers and Jets at 2 and 3:

The Sun should be on par with or better than what the national media has us pinned at. Somebody needs to liven up the Sun. The place just seems so depressing.

My rankings would be more like:
Pats>Steelers>Ravens

But really, if it wasn't for that big choke, we'd be #1 everywhere.

Not only would we have beaten all the top teams but we'd have also done it away from home.

I'm convinced the writers at the Sun are a bunch of morons.

Power Rankings that place the Ravens under the Jets and Steelers = crap. How can someone place the Jets and Steelers over the Ravens when we beat them both and we all have a 5-2 record? Boggles the mind.

Power Rankings are just opinions. I try not to care about them too much, but its nice to see that someone's opinions are finally logical.

The AFC North blogger, James Walker, for ESPN always shows Ravens a lot of love. He realizes we are a team that isn't playing even close to our potential and still finding ways to win. Once we put it all together, we will be very dangerous. The game this Sunday against the Dolphins is gonna be huge, can't wait.

I suppose they're basing their opinion about the Steelers on the fact that Ben R. is back and he is like kryptonite to Baltimore. I don't really know about the Jets, though. They got shut out and lost to Baltimore; it seems like a no-brainer.

considering the love affair that goes on between the Steelers, Jets, and Brett Favre, you wouldn't think anybody else plays on Sundays, so I am glad that we get any kind of mention

Well until we can beat ben they should be ranked ahead of us, manning too really

Disagree ....we're talking about THIS season, not the past.

I think there is plenty of reason why we should be ranked above the Patriots. Sure they have the better record by one game, but they beat us at home, off a bye, and after reacquiring a vet that we couldn't game-plan for. And it took them to overtime to get the job done.

Still, #2 is fine by me.

If the rankings were based solely on stats both the Steelers and Ravens would be in the lower half of the league. So I'm not sure what the rankings are based on other than won-lost records. I'm seeing a very tough schedule for both of us coming up with you guys having to beat us in Baltimore to hold the tiebreaker. Otherwise it's a toss up for the AFC North right now. To be honest tho you guys have to be able to beat the Colts, and Pats consistently to get anywhere in the post season and right now both those teams are offensive powerhouses!

Same goes for you....

Also, if (when) we beat you week 13, we will not need a tie breaker.

Did the Steelers have to go through either of those teams to win their last championship? And the Bolts consistently beat the Colts, but what has that gotten them?

Power rankings are basedly mostly on opinion rather than stats (or even wins sometimes).

Colts are not offensive powerhouses this season and are decimated with injuries now. It is Peyton Manning and the local high school boys and the only reason they did so well was the Texans do not have a defense.

Actually, we only need to beat the Pats once - in the playoffs - just like last year. And, really, aren't the Pats the team the Steelers can't seem to beat in the playoffs?

Not to disrespect the Steelers. They are the best franchise is sports.

But there last Superbowl run has to be one of the easier roads. They faced an 8-8 Chargers team who only seem to beat the Colts, and lose to anyone else. They faced us in the AFC championship, and its nearly impossible to win on the road with a rookie QB against a defense like that.
They played the Cards who basically got destroyed by any AFC team in the regular season.

My point is, that we don't have to beat the Colts or Pitt to get to the Superbowl. You could always have the games roll your way. We'll have to win in the playoffs. Whether its against Pitt, Indy, or even KC.

I hate saying it, but I don't see any reason why the Pats should not be #1 for the time being. Not saying that you are making excuses for our loss, but those reasons you listed are excuses.

and so I guess having Ed Reed back is nothing compared to Ben coming back?? BS! The Steelers have the defense to win without Ben and with any QB. Ed Reed makes a bigger difference than Ben does. Case in Point:

Reed = 2 Interceptions
First 6 Games: No Interceptions. That's a game changer!

We escaped with a win over Bills, have a bye week, and we get pumped to the 2nd best team in the NFL? Told you those Power Rankings were garbage

Almost beat the 6-1 Pats the week prior (had 10 pt 4th quarter lead), Jets and Steelers both lost this week and we beat both of them earlier in the season....seems about right to me!

I have to agree. Doesn't matter how we lost, if we blow a ten point lead or lose in the last minute of a game, it's still a loss. I don't think we're the second best team in the NFL, not with the inconsistent play calling, and the D giving up major yards and points when it counts the most.
