9 posts in this topic

Mario Manningham and Aqib Talib have reportedly been removed from alot of Teams draft Boards due to allegations of Marijuana possession and use during their collegiate days. Talib during the combine acknowledged that he had used Marijuana during his college days after testing positive 3 times. Mario on the other hand had denied testing positive initially, but then came to his senses and sent a letter to All 32 teams apoligizing that he initially lied and said before.

I guess the Bengals are even more interested now.

lol one can only wonder just how much and how long this kind of behavior will gon on for.....surely something has to be done about it. But in all honest, im sure that they'll both find a home with a team that will be more than willing to put those issues aside and pick them up....

I actually just looked at a Mock Draft and it has us taking Aquib Talib. Now i know its only a mock draft, but still, do you think Ozzie would take his chances with Talib after this? Sure we've got Ray and Reed to kick him into shape, but im not sure Ozzie would draft him with the rising suspicion of his behavior in the NFL. We surely dont want to come off looking like the Bengals.

I wonder how many college kids have never smoked Marijuana. Then again, lying about it is something else altogether.

It may be a result of my political views, but I don't think this matters much, except for Manningham initially lying.

Amobi Okoye had a similar situation last year, but he was still a relatively high pick and had a solid season right out of the draft.

Calvin Johnson admitted smoking pot, too--he didn't exactly fall far.

If this true the NFL is full of hypocrits. Calvin Johnson also admitted to using Marijuana during his draft interview and he was still a top five pick. Manningham might fall because he intially lied about it but it shouldnt affect Talib's status at all.

Great minds think alike.

Look, these guys are young kids and if they lied, they lied but they have since come clean and I don't think that should harm their draft status too much. However, even alleged use in this new NFL with emphasis on high character and a very tough conduct policy will scare away teams, but I doubt either will fall out of Round 1...
