Agreed, I'm still waiting for Goodell to give an explanation as to why there's no suspension...unless this fine is a prelude to one. I think I understand why the fine between a helmet hit and a punch is so disparate (or similar, in some instances), but I don't understand why repeat behavioral offenders like Harrison and Cortland Finnegan haven't been suspended for yet another violation of the same nature in their respective cases.

Even the Rooneys are saying they don't want him to change how he plays, I imagine they're planning to unofficially reimburse him as well.

I got an answer. Ravens-Steelers is the Sunday Night Game. James Harrison is a big time player so why would the league suspend him before a big Nationally Televised game??? I have a feeling Harrison will deliver a big hit and on Monday we'll hear he is suspended for 2 games... and why wait... simple he would have missed the prime time game.

That's my Theory and I'm sticking to it!

I hope you're wrong about Harrison and a questionable hit this game. Any hit that is even borderline in this game will most likely be a sideline clearing event resulting in multiple ejections on both sides.

Indeed, because we know hes been doing it over and over again. If he hurts Flacco, theres going to be alot of frustration and anger on our end

Regardless of what anyone thinks of James Harrison.. him being flagged for that hit on Fitzpatrick is very borderline on ridiculous. The kids remark from Tomlin was also ridiculous as well.

Wow. There pretty "insane" in that Steelers' locker room regarding Harrison and the crazy penalties being called on the Defense lately. Here's a quote from Ryan Clark made yesterday (tweet):
"New break: Steeler D will protest this Sunday in the wake of #92 latest fine by hitting harder and more vicious. Since they fine either way!"

At the very least the game should be interesting. Hard hits are ok... injuries are not. Lets hope no one does not get hurt too bad.

Harrison makes a base salary of 775,00 per year. That's 11 times what I do. he also got bonuses before this season and last season. He doesn't have any room to complain about how much money he makes. If he doesn't have money then that's his own fault. To many stars who make big green spend their money irresponsibly.

I don't like this. If this turns into a brawl of sorts (more so than a typical Ravens/Steelers game), then our guys are going to start getting too emotional, and they are at their worst when they let their emotions take over. I'm willing to let PIT "beat us up" if it means we maintain our cool and focus on winning the game, not the fight.

Interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about that actually.

Suggs seems to be at least the second Raven to side with the Steelers stance on the inconsistency and favoritism towards offense of the NFL front office:

Ravens/Pittsburgh.....same style of play, same intensity and same desired outcome. They're gonna support each other.

They don't like each other, but I love that they back each other up when stuff like this comes up.

Suggs taking that stance isn't surprising. Between being penalized for bumping into Brady's knee last season and for delivering a textbook tackle on a Palmer as he released the ball this year, he's been screwed by the refs too.

While I don't believe that all of Harrison's fines were deserved, I can see why he's a marked man, and it's not just because of that hit on Mohamed Massaquoi that started this whole mess.

He's a star player who has a history of making big plays on the biggest stages, who plays on one of the marquee teams in the league, who also has a reputation of violence, both on the field and allegedly off of it. Those are a lot of combustible elements that make Harrison the perfect target for the league to make an example.

However, while I sympathize with his reasoning that not all violent (incidental) hits can be avoided during bang-bang type plays, it's a bit odd to me that the nature of a lot of his hits are borderline, which almost implies that he could change his tackling style if he wanted to. But, his coaches and the Rooneys want him to maintain his style of play, so of course he won't adjust just to appease the league. I'm just concerned that, one of these days, he could be a victim of his own tackling style and cut his career short.

Remember, tackles hurt the deliverer as much as the recipient, sometimes more. And there is more than one way to effectively bring a ballcarrier down to the ground and separate the ball from him.

Some of the fines he recieved were questionable, some were not. However, if the NFL really wanted to correct his playing style they would change his punishment (suspension). How many fines has gotten now? Harrison has shown us that fines won't change him.

Whether these Harrison fines are warranted or not it still doesnt change the fact that Roger Goodell is a complete joke as a commissioner and is by far the worst commissioner the NFL has ever had...

Yep... Now I don't like the Steelers, in fact it's in my blood I just don't know how I would ever be able to like them... but I do respect them because they have a similar style to us when it comes to how we play defense. Thus I hate how this league has become a passing league. The Sooner we can get Roger out as Commish the better.

I found this old video of some other football players and this linebacker miraculously manages to keep his head up while making the hit. Does Harrison have a physical problem that does not allow him to make a clean hit like this?

That's Harrison's problem. He leads with his helmet rather than his shoulder. I don't know where he picked that up, but they owe him (and his children, lol jk) a lot of money -_-
