That's YOUR account of our history. There's plenty of calls that have screwed us at key points as well. The reason you don't hear too much about a lot of them (especially in recent years) is because we've managed to overcome them.
Look at the Colts game in 2005 in the playoffs in the Bettis fumble game where Polamalu clearly picked off Manning with about 4-5 mins left in the game and they overuled it and said it was not a clean catch which lead to the Colts being able to score another 8 points and cut the lead to 3. The Steelers kept their mouth shut though and moved on to the next play and still found a way to beat the Colts which is what the great teams always do...I could also mention the 2002 wildcard game in Tennessee against the Titans in OT where Joe Nedney missed a 30 yard FG and got a roughing the kicker call against him while spinning around and acting like he was shot when he clearly wasnt even touched. The Titans got to kick again and won the game and knocked the Steelers out of a chance of playing in the AFC Championship game. Remember those 2 plays and games Demon?? Of course you dont you only remember what you want to remember...
Dude the last 2 hits he had the last 2 weeks to both Campbell and Fitzpatrick were both completely legal hits. They said Harrison lead with the crown of his helmet with the Fitzpatrick hit on Sunday which is a complete bunch of BS if you look at the replay of that hit. I dont really care about the fines so much but these constant penalties each and every week that are costing the Steelers 15 yards at key points in the game when the hits Harrison is putting on these QB's are completely legal is getting beyond absurd...
Apparently the league botched the review too, considering they fined Harrison.
But dont worry, I'll believe a Steelers' fan's recount of the events over anyone else's!

Why should he remember? You had to dig back 5 and 8 years in order to recall the last time PIT got a bad call :D

Yea but those games were both divisional playoff games and late in the game that could have easily costs the Steelers the Colts game and did costs the Steelers the Titans game. Either way it's a losing battle on here because you guys are Ravens fans and hate the Steelers guts...Hopefully after this Sunday you hate them that much more if things go the way I think they are going to go...

No mention of the makeup call against Seattle in the SB the same year that you got the bad call vs Indy? hmm, it's okay, I'm sure you just forgot.

I hope the game goes i think it will too. I have Flacco and Matt Ryan as my QBs on one of my FF teams. My choice is to start either Ryan verse Tampa Bay, or Flacco verse PIT this week. I'm starting Flacco.

What makeup call against Seattle?? Was it the refs fault that Willie Parker ran a 75 yard TD, was it the refs fault that Seattle dropped 4 passes when they were wide open, and Josh Brown missed 2 FG's in that game and that their clock manangement was atrocious. Was it the refs fault Ben Roethlisberger completed a pass on 3rd and 24 from the Seattle 48 yard line before halftime after 2 consecutive holding calls by the Steelers that lead to the first TD in the game?? That same Seattle game?? Glad youre going with Flacco this week it's good to prepare yourself early in the week for dissapointment I guess right??

Did you come up with that all by yourself?? Very clever!! Well, it would be clever if he didn't just throw the game winning TD against you a few weeks ago.

Yeah, I mean it's not like Ray was fined for his hit on Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson last year when he was coming down from trying to catch a pass. Oh wait... he was fined for that. Okay, but it wasn't like he was fined for that hit on Austin Collie in the endzone during the playoffs last year. Sorry, my mind must be fuzzy, because he was fined for that hit. Man, that's two fines in one year.

I don't believe he's been fined this season; he was fined twice last season for an "illegal" hit (the one on Chad Ochocinco that popped his helmet off, and another on Austin Collie in the playoffs) and his two or three other fines were related to comments criticizing the league's officials.

Dude, we know all about bad calls in playoff games. In our 2006 divisional matchup against the Colts, Ed Reed intercepted a ball and lateraled it to Chris McAlister who, in turn, took it 30-40 yards on a return. The refs, though, called Reed out of bounds back where the interception was made, negating the return.

Also, there was a ghost "roughing the punter" call in the AFCCG against you guys in 2008. Your punter was untouched yet took a dive and extended that drive.

Of course, that's not an excuse for losing a game. As Boise State's HC wisely pointed out, one play can win a game but one play cannot lose a game. Actually, that doesn't make any sense..

The one thing I admire about Mike Tomlin is that he sticks up for his guys, even when the court of public opinion says his guys are in the wrong.

That said, Mike Tomlin's reaching on that one and won't find sympathy from anyone and probably not many NFL players, for that matter. James Harrison has made too much money not to be able to afford to put his kids through school, even with all of the bills he has to pay in affording a comfortable lifestyle for his family and paying his agent and whatever legal team he might have as a pre-emptive measure, etc. It'd take a serious mismanagement of money for Harrison to not be able to afford to put food on his table and put his kids through college, even if Harrison hasn't earned even 1/3 of his current contract.

So in games that matter that means he has only choked 3 times and 8 other times he hasn't including driving down the field in Pittsburgh to complete a comeback and win the game.

That's weak.... and probably some of the guys he roughs up has kids too is Harrison thinking of their kids? Also does Harrison realize that he makes more money than most people do today in this economy? So Tomlin don't try the kids argument when there are people in the REAL WORLD that can't even get a job and if they do have a job all they can do is just afford to put food on the table and pay bills without extra money left over for fun things. So Tomlin don't try to tell us a guy who makes millions won't be able to put his kids through college when some people are unemployed or working and just able to put food on the table and pay bills.

Finally you just came out and said what you like to imply so often. What an obnoxious statement, making a judgment like that after two seasons. Anyway, how does this game count more than the one in Pittsburgh? In hindsight especially, that game counted...a lot.

I bet a reporter calls out Tomlin for his irresponsible remark in light of the economy and he apologizes. It was an open-mouth, insert-foot type of comment that he probably should've thought out a little better. Although it's true that Harrison's fines this year amount to roughly 17% of his $755k salary for this season, he received a significant bonus last year of $10 million and is due to receive another $2.8 million bonus this year. No sympathy for Harrison from anyone for the dollar amount of the fines, I don't believe.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed. Wholeheartedly. I'm not a huge fan of Mike Florio but he pointed that out pretty well in his article. James Harrison's multi-millions aren't endangered by these fines; he would have to do some serious mismanagement to blow all of that.

What's it going to take for Goodell to suspend this headhunter? Todd Heap on IR from another dirty hit?
Agreed, I'm still waiting for Goodell to give an explanation as to why there's no suspension...unless this fine is a prelude to one. I think I understand why the fine between a helmet hit and a punch is so disparate (or similar, in some instances), but I don't understand why repeat behavioral offenders like Harrison and Cortland Finnegan haven't been suspended for yet another violation of the same nature in their respective cases.

THe NFL is no doubt making an example out of Harrison, and he is one of the most deserving in the NFL to be made an example of. But the NFL stated that they would issue suspensions. After 4 fines for Harrison this year, you would think that they would have suspended him already. Maybe they are just waiting for another one of those big hits that is "suspension worthy" by their standards. I don't think suspensions or fines are necessary for situations like this, but if Harrison made hits like he did against Cleveland every week then I think they are more than necessary. But still I am surprised there have been no suspensions yet, and will not be surprised if Goodell is just waiting for one hit followed by possibly a multi-game suspension.
