Fallout: New Vegas

10 posts in this topic

I just purchased Fallout: New Vegas, but I haven't installed it yet. Anywho, after watching a video review, I can't wait to see what's in store this time around. While most of the graphics and gameplay are similar, if you liked Fallout 3, you'll love New Vegas. Naturally, it is superior on the PC, but no matter what platform, it's going to be epic.

What are your thoughts on the Fallout series, and specifically, how hyped are you about New Vegas?

I have mixed feelings about it. I have no doubt that it's a great game and a worthy addition to the series, but I feel as if its near-identical similarities to Fallout 3 in gameplay and graphics is a slight drawback. For me, my biggest version with the PC version is the control scheme; then again, I'm not used to playing PC games, but now that I've got a laptop that can handle it, I suppose I'll have to get used to it eventually.

My feeling is, if you loved Fallout 3, you'll love this game. But if you didn't particularly care for it or viewed it as an average game, then this one won't do anything to change your mind and probably isn't worth the purchase.

Fallout 3 was one of the best games I've ever played, and despite New Vegas' similarity in graphics, the gameplay was so intriguing that I think it's worth the purchase, especially for PC.

I loved fallout 3 and bought this game as well. It is pretty much the same as fallout 3 but I don't remember fallout 3 being this buggy. If I have one complaint about new Vegas is that it is extremely buggy and has locked up on me over 6 times in about 5-6hours of playing over a few days.

New Vegas strikes me as more of an expansion pack than a full-fledged game (not saying it is, saying how it comes off to me) for the reasons Franny states. Because of that, it's $60 price tag turns me off to the game.

Fallout: New Vegas is made by Bethesda, the original developers of the first two Fallout games.

Correction: New Vegas is developed by Obsidian Entertainment (most of the members worked on the first two Fallout games) but published by Bethesda. Bethesda developed and published Fallout 3.

That would explain why the game looks like Fallout 3 and has the same basic cosmetic feel, but some people have said it's a different enough game despite the similar experience. The main story is apparently more developed, but that remains to be seen. I'm looking to just spring for the console version instead because my laptop keeps overheating from playing even 20 minutes of it. I'll stick to re-playing Fallout 3 instead since I never finished the main story.

So it is. Boo, how about we knock both prices down to $40 though? :P

I think all games need to go down in price. It seems that's the only arena that hasn't been hit by the economic downturn.

I'll be honest, I only paid $18.00 after using a gift card :P
